"Coming off the Scillonian ferry hot and tired in the evening, I checked into the Hotel and went straight into the shower. Afterwards, undressed, I wanted a cup of coffee, only to discover that the entire container of drinks etc. was missing and there was only a kettle and two empty mugs. My friend went down to reception to inform them, and was told to take some sachets back up to the room. Nobody replaced the missing drinks or container for the entire one night stay. Reception was mostly unstaffed on both nights we stayed there, although staff did appear fairly soon. I do not feel that the lackadaisical service received reflected the £165 a night cost of our second visit."

"My wife and I celebrated her birthday with a 2 night trip to Cornwall. We wanted a country accommodation (outside of Penzance), but with easy access to St. Michael's Mount, Minack Theatre, Lands End and Mousehole. Higher Faugan Parc is a beautifully kept manor down a long lane, quiet, with nice gardens, and only about 5 minutes from Penzance. The host Doug met us when we arrived and helped us identify a lovely nearby farm/pub called The Kings Arms in the village of Paul (it was so good that we ate there twice). The accommodations were clean and quiet. The breakfast options were awesome and were available inside the room for consumption at any time. Best of all, we could come and go as we pleased throughout our 2 day stay. "

"Like many reviewers, I have had a positive experience here in the past, BUT, this year the price was ridiculous at £150 for one night, the whole place smelled unpleasant and musty, the room was dirty with only one towel and fresh pillow cases on the spare pillows were not in evidence. The lavatory was very stained. The poor staff were very few and far between and rushed off their feel. Not staying here again!"

"Good location not too far from town. But ….. we found this to be a very noisy hostel. Doors slamming, people shouting in corridors at all hours. Maybe we were unlucky but there were no staff around at night to deal with problem guests. The accommodation was very basic for the price you pay. The kitchen was too small for the number of people using it and was not cleaned regularly enough. Small dining room. WiFi not great. Overall a very disappointing stay - would never book again."

"This is a quaint and ideally located guesthouse just across from the train station. Breakfast is superb and our room was immaculate. It is easy to walk from here to anywhere in town including a local favorite fish and chips takeout in a remote part of town (ask the owner). St. Michael’s Mount is a walkable distance, but make sure you time your visit at low tide. Also make sure you try a Cornish pasty at one of its several bakeries."

"Extremely peaceful and high quality rooms. We stayed in room 3 and the vista from the window was gorgeous! The night sky was beautiful and was the sun rise out to Newlyn. We enjoyed how quiet the room was and nobody bothered us so it was easy to settle and appreciate the privacy . Having some basic breakfast items in the room suited us ok and we didn’t feel obliged to have to be social in the morning or take up time which we instead chose to spend having a lay in. Doug was very kind to us and seemed hands on and very proud of the standard of his home, he has a lovely pond and guest are able to go and and spend time there. The area is signposted. It is VERY IMPORTANT to read ALL of the website information!!!!!!! The house is a PRIVATE property and the owners are very clear that this is their stance. In this day and age we are so used to being able to roam hotels and guest houses that we can sometimes forget the personal space and personal awareness preferences of others! Curiosity is a natural human trait, especially when we see something as enchanting as this place. There are strict rules that the majority of the inside and outside is out of bounds and that the offering is for a suite only, there are not common lounges to go and read for example. As long as you are happy with this and understand the proposition then you will have a delightful stay and bliss out in the gentle energy of the set back location. If you are feeling energetic and mobile then the walk down to the harbour is invigorating and stunning. Thank you for a lovely stay"
