"Honestly, this was the worst accommodation I've ever had on a business trip. This hotel, supposedly the best in Quito, charged me extra after breakfast, even though I had ordered breakfast upon check-in. I reluctantly paid. I booked two rooms, one paid online and the other at the hotel for $340. All room fees were settled. However, upon check-out, they charged me over $800 and sent me a separate bill. I asked them to explain the $575 charge on the bill, and after a week of explanations, they still couldn't explain it clearly. They finally told me it was a fine for smoking in the hotel. Seriously! They didn't tell us smoking wasn't allowed upon check-in, and the staff only reminded us not to smoke in the room after we were caught. They didn't mention the fine at check-out either, but after a week of questioning, this smoking fine suddenly appeared. Is the hotel so short of money? If they are, they should just say so, don't be so greedy. Everyone, avoid this place; I've never had such a terrible experience. I don't care about getting my money back, I just want to vent my anger! They should close down as soon as possible! Garbage!"

"Beautiful hotel with attentive well-trained staff and excellent food. One receptionist is fluent in English. Location overlooks a magnificent square - however the area behind the hotel is rife with pickpockets and it is unsafe to display phones or jewelry. Staff will warn you and it is muy importante to take heed. Bathrooms are a bit odd - be careful how you switch on the tap as you may get soaked!"

"Staying at the Superstar Hotel in Quito, Ecuador, was definitely one of the wisest choices for this trip! From the moment you step into the lobby, you can feel the hotel's attention to detail—the high ceilings, warm lighting, and paintings by local artists on the walls cleverly blend modern design with Andean cultural elements, instantly making you feel more at home in this highland capital. The booked view room exceeded my expectations. Opening the window revealed the red-roofed buildings of Quito's old town, with the Pichincha volcano appearing and disappearing in the mist in the distance. In the morning, drawing back the curtains reveals a flowing natural panorama. The room was fully equipped, with a smart TV that could connect to your phone for screen mirroring, and details like a kettle and mini-fridge meeting the needs of a long journey. The bedding was so soft that I fell asleep instantly, completely offsetting the fatigue of high-altitude travel. The most surprising thing was the hotel's service. The receptionist spoke fluent English, not only quickly processing check-in but also proactively providing a Quito map, highlighting must-see churches, markets, and viewpoints with a highlighter, and even thoughtfully reminding me of precautions for altitude sickness. Every day when I left, the doorman greeted me warmly and even suggested outfits based on the weather; this feeling of being valued was incredibly heartwarming. The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but it was exquisite. The freshly made Ecuadorian traditional breakfast, "Horvicho" (corn tortillas with cheese and fried eggs), was fragrant and delicious, paired with locally grown banana jam—a refreshing sweet and sour treat. The juice bar's passion fruit juice and blueberry smoothies were generously filled with fruit pieces. Returning in the evening, the lobby bar offered complimentary hot cocoa; a sip warmed me to the core, and the view of the fading streetscape outside the window was exceptionally pleasant. The location was also a major plus. It's a 15-minute walk to Quito's Old Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), making it convenient to visit the Church of San Francisco and Independence Square. There are also 24-hour supermarkets and reasonably priced local restaurants nearby. Overall, the Superstar Hotel provided a comfortable stay, attentive service, and a convenient location, making my Quito trip a perfect ending. If I ever return to this "city on the equator," this will definitely be my first choice!"

"Choosing this hotel for my business trip to Quito was a fantastic decision! The hotel environment truly lives up to its reputation as a garden hotel. The front desk service was excellent and efficient, the restaurant food was superb, the breakfast buffet was plentiful, and there was even a gym. The hotel is located in a safe area near a large park in the city center, where you can also exercise and take walks. I will definitely choose to stay at this hotel again next time I have the opportunity to visit Quito. Very satisfied! 👍"

We did have an initial problem with some rattling/humming noise in the ceiling but this was rectified so we enjoyed a peaceful sleep. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and rooftop bar (great view from here) - the food was very good. Breakfast buffet very good. All staff friendly and provided good service. Well located."

"Excellent breakfast with a wide variety of choices that changed daily. We also had a very good dinner at the restaurant. The rooms were large and comfortable, as were the bathrooms. The staff was very friendly; we were even able to leave our luggage with them during our 4-night stay in the Amazon. The hotel contacted us before our arrival to offer assistance during our stay and, upon request, sent a driver (Javier) to pick us up from the airport. Javier then drove us wherever we wanted to stay for the remainder of our trip and was very friendly. In the two rooms we stayed in, the sheets didn't seem very clean (hair and stains), as if someone else had slept in them before us."

"We had an incredibly disappointing experience during our recent stay. Despite booking months in advance, we arrived to find that the hotel was completely overbooked. Instead of honoring our reservation, they transferred us to their other location, which was farther away and far inferior in quality. The alternate hotel was a major downgrade: the pool was closed, there was no air conditioning or heat, the room was much smaller and outdated, and breakfast wasn’t offered early enough to accommodate our 7 a.m. departure. To make matters worse, when we left at 7 a.m., breakfast preparations hadn’t even started. Adding to the frustration, the hotel offered no discount or compensation for the inconvenience and lower-quality accommodations—despite the fact that the issue was entirely their fault. They also failed to respond to any messages I sent ahead of our stay. I had tried to arrange an airport transfer (a service they claim to offer), but after receiving no reply, we had to rely on Uber to reach the property. Overall, the lack of communication, accountability, and basic hospitality made this a very unpleasant stay. I would not recommend this hotel."

"Now the hotel has a lot of nice points: First the location that is perfect to discover Quito Old Town (just a 10 minutes walk downhill); Second the staff at reception couldn’t have been more helpful and smiling (and to them a 5 star plus…I could come back just for you guys!); Third the decor that is interesting and arty (as per the name of the hotel) albeit not at the top of my liking (but nothing with to go with my score!) Breakfast was ok (I rather prefer a buffet offering that is quick!) What let me down was actually the size of the room and bathroom!! My booking was for a Deluxe room and we had one with a wonderful view but my God…once the bed was in (very comfortable by the way) there was no room for moving and for our rather large suitcases (3 weeks travelling South America require lots of things!) and the bathroom too was rather on the small side (to put it simply!). My point is that the hotel was, unfortunately for them, rather empty and there were only one bedroom taken on the Deluxe side…all the other were open and perfectly appointed and so generously large with ample space to open suitcases and bathrooms again very very large…I have been envious of them. Frankly I couldn’t complain about mine but my stay hasn’t been comfortable as it could have been."
