"Today, continuing our personal project of wandering through Sicilian towns and villages, my dear and close friend Giuseppe Giuffrida and I went to Randazzo. We searched for and found some good bread (the likes of which are almost unavailable in Catania anymore), cured meats, cheeses, and cardoncelli mushrooms, better known as funghi di ferla. Then—and here's the best part—we went to the Scrivano restaurant, located in the hotel of the same name, next to Randazzo's main square. What a delight and what a treat! I'll briefly describe our lunch, which I invite you to try again: mushroom soup (the best you can get); various appetizers, including Scrivano's legendary caponata; pappardelle with black pork ragù and cardoncelli mushrooms. A true delight, washed down with wine from the Etna cellars. We skipped a second course because we were full and satisfied. Do you know the sweet and comforting feeling of leaving the table with a happy thought in mind and a sense of peace with the world? Well, yes, we felt exactly that way when we left! Kudos to Scrivano and his entourage."
