Be aware that if you depart a cruise boat in Ravenna getting a cab from the train station (or anywhere else your shuttle may drop you) to any hotel is going to take a while. Relax and wait it out. Just as we were checking in there was a couple who had walked from the train station to Hotel Bisanzio each dragging two suitcases because they didn't want to wait for a taxi. I think they regretted not waiting in the taxi line."

The area around Ravenna Station might seem a little scary, with some suspicious-looking people sitting around and many homeless people, but when I checked with the front desk, it seemed the area wasn't that unsafe. The next morning, I walked from the hotel to Ravenna Station in the dark to catch an early morning train, but I had no problems."
