Festa Winter Palace Hotel

"We chose this hotel because of its location and spa. The room was a family room and it was very spacious with a lovely balcony and view. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped. The communal areas around the hotel were nicely presented and the spa was good (although perhaps not the best compared to the other 5 stars). A few people did question the pool temperature and the fact that there was no jacuzzi. Breakfast was as expected although it felt a bit cramped- they could have laid out the food area better to prevent bottle neck queues. The main thing they could have improved on was the front desk service (left wanting) and restocking the complimentary water, tea and coffee (which they wouldn’t do despite us staying for 4 nights as a family and it being supposedly 5 star). That said, we would stay there again due to its location."

"Hotel was OK - average but OK for Bulgaria and at the price charged. The room was large and OK. It was warm and clean. The restaurant & bar was actually quite good - breakfast was average by UK standards but it was OK."

"The hotel is very nice. It is very well renovated and refreshed. The room we were accommodated in was very clean, large, tidy and warm. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the view from the bar is amazing. In general, the hotel is very well heated, which is very important for a mountain hotel. The breakfast was very tasty. The price-quality ratio is excellent and we will gladly come back again."

Hotel Samokov

"Do not rent lockers here. I paid for six days but the first day the office was closed and could only leave things in the evening. I was then told that six days is FIVE nights and lockers need to be empty BY midday, which meant having to waste half of the day skiing. Everywhere else days start at 7am and finish around 7.30pm. But everything here is designed to extract as much cash as possible from travellers. The attitude is always dreadful and I am afraid everything now is expensive and the service terrible. It leaves a sour taste and spoils the day and even the holiday. Won’t see me again. Bye."
