"During summer vacation, we took our children to visit the Hexi Corridor. Our last stop was the Shandan Military Horse Farm in Zhangye. We chose to stay at the Xingxiu Hotel, which opened in 2024. The accommodation was very good and close to the scenic area, just a few minutes' walk away. Unfortunately, the weather was not good. It was raining continuously and the temperature dropped sharply. We rented a windbreaker from the hotel. The landlady was very kind and let us wear it to the station on the day we checked out, and then the driver took it back with us. This prevented us from catching a cold."

"An underrated town, a town full of surprises for you. Huaixi Town is located in the deepest part of Shandan Racecourse, at the foot of Qilian Mountain. 1: The town looks very quiet. 2: In-depth horse riding tour, reaching the foot of Qilian Mountain, a place that other horse riding venues cannot reach. The accommodation environment is slightly lacking compared to the city. But there is room for improvement, and small town housekeeping staff can be trained during the off-season. It’s definitely very convenient to get there if you’re traveling by car. If you take the train, you can contact the hotel in advance and they will provide the pick-up driver's phone number, 80 for one trip. You can also take a taxi yourself."

"We stayed in a wooden cabin (with a shared bathroom), but luckily, we were the only ones occupying it. The hotel is located within the scenic area, so self-driving in requires an additional 100 RMB fee. We drove in and asked the hotel staff for recommendations. They suggested we visit Kulong Gorge Scenic Area, where the views of the grassland and spruce forest from the mountaintop were absolutely stunning, with a high density of marmots everywhere. The hotel's breakfast was decent, clean, and healthy; just don't expect anything too fancy. Right outside the hotel, you can see the 'Ten Thousand Horses Drinking' attraction. The next day, we drove to Huaixi Town for horseback riding, which allowed us to venture deep into the grasslands. Horseback riding there was much more enjoyable than riding right outside the Sihai Hotel."

"Huaixi Town is close to the core reserve of Qilian Mountain National Park, with snow-capped mountains, grasslands, herds of cattle and sheep, and the natural scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. It is indeed Qilian, the paradise! I hope humans can protect this area! Although limited by objective conditions, the bathing facilities in the town are relatively average, but it can be seen that they are run with care. The electric heater must be praised! Breakfast is also OK. The restaurant here can make roasted whole lamb, which tastes far better than the northwest lamb roasted whole lamb in Zhangye city! Also, the price of horse riding here is cheaper than that in Sihai~"
