Kashikojima Hojoen
9.4 (100 reviews)

Kashikojima Hojoen ★★★★★

📍 718-3 Agocho Shinmei, Shima

"This is a traditional, large-scale hot spring ryokan. I've been to many hot spring ryokans, and most of them felt deserted with few staff and many foreign guests. However, this ryokan had plenty of staff, and they were very attentive with both greetings and farewells. The baths were spacious, and the changing rooms were cleaned frequently. The unlimited use of bath towels was a fantastic service for us, as we love to soak multiple times. The view from our room, with the calm sea and beautiful sunset, was absolutely stunning. The meal service system was new to us and a bit confusing at first, but it turned out to be very convenient for our family, as we all eat different amounts. Finally, I must mention that we stayed here about 15 years ago when my late father was battling an illness. Being able to come back with my now-grown children and reminisce about those memories was truly special. The ryokan is just as wonderful now as it was then. Thank you for everything. The ryokan is very large and even has a bowling alley, which our children thoroughly enjoyed."

"The large public bath was only used by day-trippers, so even though I waited in the bathtub the whole time, I couldn't get into the sauna. During the hours when overnight guests were staying, the noisy regulars and the feeling of being out of place made the large public bath pointless."

"Treasure Hotel is located in a resort area in Shima. The hotel has rich facilities, a great location, and beautiful surrounding scenery. It is very quiet and very suitable for vacation. This is my favorite hotel in Kii Peninsula. It is so precious that I don’t want it to be too popular."
