"The staff is nice and friendly, beds are clean and comfortable. They provide blankets and pillow only, bring your own towels and sandals, and locks if you want to lock your locker. The community fridge is a nice touch but my breakfast got stolen, so put stuff there at your own risk.There are some weird men who loiters in the dining/waiting area at around 7am when I went to get my breakfast, they might be the culprit😤
The location is perfect!! It's 10 minutes of walking distance from the train station, which is gteat because I arrive pretty late and need to leave quite early."

"I had a wonderful stay at The Hat Madrid! The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, the service was excellent, and the hostel was very clean. "A very clean hostel with a convenient location, just a 2-minute walk from the subway station. There's a 24-hour Carrefour supermarket right at the subway exit, which is super handy for groceries.
Facilities: The common areas are spacious, including a work area, social lounge, dining area, restrooms, and shower rooms – all very clean and tidy.
Environment: Everything felt quite new and clean, with no unpleasant odors. I stayed one night in an 8-bed dorm, and everyone was very quiet.
Service: The front desk staff were very friendly and spoke English fluently."

"The accommodation was clean. They don’t have a lift, but it’s alright to walk a few stairs. Shared bathroom and toilet. Water for showering was hot enough. There is a fan in the room. The location was close to a 24 hour supermarket. The downside is that there was not water boiler for people who need hot water:( but overall it’s good"

Good choice for a short stay. Overall satisfaction!"

Supermarket is the next door, being very convenient if you need some fruits and other daily needs. Hotel’s breakfast is good with variety of foods. Room is small but clean. GGuest UserWe were a group of three staying in a family room. The cleanliness wasn't outstanding, but the bathroom was incredibly spacious. The check-in process was a little cumbersome, but the staff were friendly. The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, comparable to staying on Nanjing Road in Shanghai, making it easy to get anywhere. The guests were also quite considerate; people would even chat with you in the elevator. Overall, it's a place I'd consider visiting again.
PS: Just a heads-up, the hotel's checkout time is a bit early at 11:00 AM. Also, there's an extra charge for luggage storage.

The location is excellent, within walking distance to Retiro Park, Mercado de San Miguel, Sol metro station, and Plaza Mayor. The hotel is right on the street, making it super convenient to return after shopping. It's simple and clean, with a small inner courtyard garden. There's a small common lounge where you can use the internet, boil water, and a shared fridge for groceries. Several supermarkets are nearby. However, I wouldn't recommend being out too late.

GGuest UserThe guy from the front desk actually looked through the closed glass doors and came out to help me carry my suitcase up the 5 (or so) steps up to the lobby for check in. Nice first impression.
Room is tiny for the price, but the floor feels clean, bedding looks clean, toilet and basin all look clean too. Toilet paper is thick and soft enough, and the long pillow is super comfy (soft touches are always appreciated). Flushing is strong enough and no problem with water flooding the bathroom cubicle.
No space next to basin to put toiletries bag. Couldn't charge my Samsung phone using the original Samsung adaptor and international adaptor -- voltage too low?? As an Asian, water kettle in room would have been appreciated but not available.

I like the public area on the ground floor, if there could be more charging place would be nice.
However, only 2 bathroom for 12 people is not enough. One of the bathroom only have cold water and the sink is outside the toilet.
I think it is a fair option for such a price in the city, still there is an improvement.
If you are a solo traveller that need a short stay, it is an acceptable choice.

FFanYangA Pleasant Stay with Warm Hospitality
It’s always a pleasant stay at this hotel. Although it's a budget hotel, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I especially want to highlight the young lady who assisted me during check-in—she was so kind and welcoming. She provided me with all the necessary information about breakfast locations, nearby laundry services, and more. That was very helpful and much appreciated.
The hotel's location is also very strategic. There are plenty of eateries nearby, and it’s close to both the bus and train stations. The room itself was simple but clean. Everyone at the hotel is polite and friendly, which made my stay even more enjoyable.
If I could suggest a few areas for improvement, they would be:
1. Provide a kettle in the room – Hot water for drinking is important for me, and having a kettle would be very convenient.
2. Install proper blackout curtains – This would help guests sleep better by blocking out excess light.
3. Offer laundry services – Having an in-house laundry option would be useful, especially for longer stays.
Other than these suggestions, everything else was perfect. Overall, I’m very satisfied with my stay and truly appreciate the warm hospitality shown by all the staff. Thank you!

It is an ideal place to spend the night and continue your trip or if you plan to spend the whole day visiting Madrid and are looking for affordable accommodation near Atocha, Cibeles or Retiro Park, etc.
Our room was very simple with a sink, shower tray and towels. The bathroom was outside the room and shared with other guests, in our opinion the bathroom was quite clean.

GGuest UserI don't understand all the negative reviews. I spent one night in a single room and had no problems whatsoever. Check-in at the machine was simple: enter your booking number and scan your ID, and it prints out your room key/card and shows you the room number on the ticket. The room had a large bed for a single, everything was clean, towels, a power outlet, a private bathroom with everything you need, and a blanket in case I was cold, but the room wasn't cold at all. The location is unbeatable, and the experience was very good. The only negative thing I can say is that you have to contact the hostel to get the entrance code (they don't answer the WhatsApp number, and I had to call), but they should automatically provide that information in your booking confirmation the day before or so. Otherwise, it was great and very quiet at night.

PPaula VianThe service is fine although it took a long time to check in (15 minutes) I imagine the guy was new and didn't know how to do his job yet, otherwise it's fine, it's on a street parallel to Gran Via so the location is great, I have to say that the room I took which was a double one was quite good inside but the outside of the room looked like garage doors, the inside of the room can't be closed but it remains locked from the outside and at 1 in the morning they knocked on our door while my friend and I were asleep and they made noises outside the door until they stopped knocking, otherwise very good accommodation for one or two nights, breakfast a little scarce but in terms of quality and price I think it's fine since for the price of the rooms in this hostel it's hard to find in Madrid and that are well located
