"Traveling with family, the guesthouse is located not far from the main gate of the village, which is also the starting point for exploring the village. It's especially beautiful at night when the lights are on. Outside the village gate is a square, and you can even watch performances from the guesthouse upstairs, perfect if you want to avoid the crowds. There's a small river in front, and the flowers in the courtyard are exceptionally vibrant. The owner also has an adorable 8-month-old dog. The room itself is clean and tidy, and the owner is incredibly kind, offering tips on what to do and recommending great food. We had a wonderful trip overall."

"I loved this place so much that I stayed 5 nights. Yang the owner speaks perfect English. I rang the day before and he was waiting at the train station with my name on a sign. He helped me organise the entrance fee. Mine was free as I'm 73 years old, even though I am a foreigner. I am travelling on my own from New Zealand. The train station pick up was free and very useful. If you take the bus it's a long way from the ticket office and bus stop into the village. Yang then transferred me into his smaller vehicle to go up the little lane to the hotel. The hotel is 5 minutes walk into the village and has a great view of the village.. It is quiet as it's a little bit away from the busy centre. The room was perfect. Everything new and very clean. And no smells. The bed was extremely comfortable with good quality bedding. I used the washing machine in the room to wash my clothes. There was tea and coffee provided. Yang took me on a full day trip to see some other local villages that have no tourists. We walked around the villages together. It was fantastic to have an English guide to explain everything. We saw people making rice wine, making indigo dye, building a house using traditional techniques. We saw a fighting buffalo. Yang chatted to the people and explained what they were doing. This was the best time I have had in China. He was a good careful driver. The breakfast was huge! So many dishes, including fruit. Yang was always available to help me with any questions and we had good talks every morning when he helped me plan my activities."

"I had a fantastic experience staying at Tianzhiyi B&B in Zhaoxing Dong Village! The location is perfect, right on the main street, making it very convenient for exploring the village. At night, the observation deck offers stunning panoramic views of the Dong village and its nightscape. The room was clean and tidy, and ours even had a small balcony with a great view. The owner and staff were very welcoming, answering all our questions and recommending nearby itineraries. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Zhaoxing! Highly recommended!"

"Lovely accommodation ideally located in the village of Zhaoxing. Everything is easily accessible on foot, and the shuttle buses to reach the other end of the village are close by (very convenient for visiting the Tang’an village). They picked us up from Congjiang station and also dropped us off when we left, a very kind gesture on their part. The room was also very nice. The only small downside was that the shower wasn’t very hot and took quite some time to warm up, but this is completely understandable considering the village is quite remote. We also would have loved to see the little animals from the photos, but they were probably staying warm! It should also be noted that the fishing experience is not available during certain times of the year."

"A perfect weekend getaway from the bustling city. Tucked away in the mountainous countryside of Guizhou, Zhaoxing Dong Ethnic Minority Village in only three hour ride via high speed train from Guangzhou. The village is quite developed, offering shuttle service to and from the railway station for 10RMB each way. You can also arrange a private ride for 50RMB into the village. The village entrance fee allows 6 days of access into the village for 80RMB. I chose to stay at the Comfort Zhaoxing Inn next to the canola fields, away from the main attractions for a quieter stay. I can see swallows swooping, bugs chirping, and frogs croaking in the fields. My room has floor to ceiling windows offering great views of the mountains, fields, and rice terraces. Remote villages in the mountains are also visible. The inn is ran by a friendly couple. They offer sumptuous breakfast with generous portions. They picked up and assisted with my luggage at the village shuttle station. The village itself is for pedestrian only. They offer complimentary shuttle services every 15-20 minutes that makes various stops if you don’t feel like walking. It was relaxing to stroll along the river and around the village. Instead of taking a shuttle (20RMB round trip) to the rice terraces of TangAn Village, I took the trail that the locals used for centuries before shuttles were available. The trail was paved, crossing creeks, winding through the mountains and rice fields for 7.5km with an elevation gain of about 1,000 meters. The views were spectacular and the food were amazingly delicious and very affordable. I used Zhaoxing Village as a hub for accessing other remote villages. Shuttle buses offering two departures to Huanggang, Basha ethic villages (about an hour ride). Though if there is not enough passengers, they may cancel the service. My stay was memorable, and I plan to go back when the canola flowers are blooming."

"The village has five drum towers representing virtue, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trustworthiness, arranged in order. The shops are located next to the Zhi Tuan tower, in the central area. Choosing this spot offers two advantages: a close-up view of the drum towers and the opportunity to watch the Dong ethnic group's grand song performance. Even after the evening performance, it's very quiet, and the bathing water is hot – I was very satisfied. To enter and exit the village, you need to take a sightseeing bus or hire a car. The sightseeing bus costs 10 yuan per person, and a car hire costs 40 yuan per vehicle."

"The location is fantastic, right next to the entrance gate of the upper village. The shuttle stop for Tang'an Terraces is just a minute's walk away, so you don't have to drag your luggage along long stone paths within the village, making getting around super convenient. The hotel is quiet yet centrally located, away from the hustle and bustle of the main street, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The room was clean and tidy, and opening the window revealed lush green rice paddies. A simple breakfast is provided, which is a great bonus as most guesthouses and hotels in the Dong villages don't include breakfast. The front desk service was attentive and thoughtful, always ready to help with any request, and even assisted with transfers and luggage, making it very friendly for those traveling with seniors and children. Upon check-in, we received drink vouchers, and we took coffee and drinks to the Gaoshan high-speed rail. The hotel blends seamlessly with the Dong architectural style, offering a comfortable and pleasant environment. I highly recommend this hotel when visiting Zhaoxing Dong Village."
