Located within Ise-Shima National Park in Mie Prefecture, Japan, Kashikojima Hojoen is a beloved traditional Japanese hot spring resort. Nestled along the scenic shores of Ago Bay, the hotel offers all guest rooms with ocean views, allowing you to enjoy the serene beauty of the sea and sky right from your room. The hotel features open-air natural hot spring baths rich in minerals, which help relieve fatigue and promote wellness and beauty. For dinner, guests are served authentic Japanese kaiseki cuisine, with seasonal dishes featuring fresh local delicacies such as Ise lobster and abalone for an exquisite dining experience. Conveniently located, the hotel provides complimentary shuttle service from Kintetsu Kashikojima Station, just a 3-minute ride away—making it an ideal destination for families, couples, and elderly travelers. If you’re seeking a peaceful, elegant, and authentically Japanese healing retreat, Kashikojima Hojoen is your perfect choice.(If checking in after 18:00, it is necessary to contact the hotel in advance)

"This is an established, somewhat older hotel (not ancient). It's quite large, and you can still see remnants of its 80s and 90s glory days, like the bowling alley. We stayed in a Japanese-style room with a lovely view. Both dinner and breakfast were delightful. The hotel also has its own hot spring bathhouse, with indoor, outdoor, and garden-style rotenburo options. It's very close to Kashikojima Station, and there's a shuttle bus service available. Nearby, there's a small fishing village and harbor you can explore, and even take a boat ride. This is a great place to relax, unwind, and get closer to nature. Plus, it's easily accessible by direct train from Nagoya and Osaka."

"This hotel offers a free shuttle service to/from Ugata Station. The rooms are comfortable and the service is warm and attentive! The breakfast spread is also extensive. I suggest the hotel post the specific station for the shuttle service on their website so guests know beforehand (we only found out which station to go to for the shuttle after emailing the hotel)."

"The hotel is well maintained. The room is probably the largest I've stayed in Japan. You can see the beautiful view of Ago Bay when you enter the room. The staff are very friendly and speak good English. At the same time, the hotel has a car to pick up to the other main building at any time. The sky garden has a check-in point for the 2016 G7 Summit, and the scenery is no less beautiful than the view from the Yokoyama Observatory. The breakfast is rich, with Western buffet and Japanese set meals to choose from, and the taste is very good. There is a scheduled shuttle bus from Kashikojima Station to the hotel. If you are late, you can also call the hotel to pick you up at the station. The service is really considerate. It is difficult to find a restaurant open after 5 o'clock near Kashikojima Station. It is recommended to make a reservation for dinner at the hotel. I will stay here again if I have the chance~"

For those with energy to burn, the hotel puts you close to Shima Nature Reserve where kayaks, boats and water balls skim the Bay. There are beaches nearby, as well as landmarks such as Daiozaki Lighthouse and nearby Yokoyama Observatory - for soaking up the setting from dry land. Shima Kanko Hotel the Bay Suites is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.

"The hotel suite is 100m2 and is huge . Our suite was with 3 futons, perfect for 3 gentlemen. The huge bathroom was well supplied with the nicest cosmetic amenities and fluffy towels. Everything in the refrigerator was free, even wines. However we did not consume any. The Club lounge on the fifth floor was already well supplied with all kinds of snacks, beverages and wines, open from morning to late night. We had a Japanese breakfast on day and a western breakfast on the second day. Both were excellent."

We are newly open on December 21, 2024. Miyako Resort Shima Bayside Terrace reopened after renovation of guest rooms, restaurant, and outer walls. You are going to have an exceptional moment during your stay with a new spacious guest room, and the white exterior standing out against the azure sky and the beautiful sunset over the Ago Bay. We have the ocean-view restaurant, and it serves some local specialties such as the Ise-shrimp and Matsuzaka-beef. Enjoy your luxury stay with a private terrace in a renovated-room and Spanish Mission style!

"This time we stayed here on a family trip. Because it was New Year's, the hotel was full and there was no place to park our car, so we parked in the parking lot where the staff also parked. The staff were very helpful. We stayed in a villa, which had a high ceiling, a great view, and was very spacious. One thing that was disappointing was that the breakfast was not very tasty or plentiful considering the price. Unlike a buffet, there was a limit to the number of people, so we had to wait in our room for about 30 minutes in the morning, so if you are in a hurry to leave in the morning, it would be better to give yourself plenty of time to go and eat breakfast. Although the breakfast was disappointing, the other services were very good."

"The large window in the room overlooked the bay, and the sunset was the best view! Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with seafood in abundance. We roasted marshmallows in the lounge, played table tennis, and enjoyed morning yoga, so we had plenty of activities to enjoy. The large public bath had a nice atmosphere, and the water felt good, but it would have been even better if it was a free-flowing bath. The hotel staff were also very friendly and the service was excellent. Thank you very much😊"

"Transportation: Take the Shimakaze train to Kashikojima, which takes about two and a half hours. Contact the hotel in advance for a pick-up from Kashikojima station. The hotel does not provide airport pick-up, but can arrange car hire for guests. Transportation is very inconvenient. Facilities: The facilities are very good. The interior styles of the three Aman hotels in Japan are very similar, and the rooms and public areas are well-maintained. Service: The service is very good. Food: Due to the hotel's remote location, there are no restaurants nearby, so all meals were eaten at the hotel. The food at the restaurant was surprisingly good (I thought it wouldn't be good). Dinner reservations must be made in advance, as the hotel is fully booked on holidays, and the restaurant's dinner slots are also fully booked. You either have to wait until 8:30 pm or eat at the bar. If you choose to eat dinner at the bar, you won't be able to get shabu-shabu. The lunch menu is different; it's a simple meal, but acceptable. The first set meal was a regular set meal, which included a beef dish with a green sauce that was super delicious; I used it to mix with rice. The second set meal included shabu-shabu, with options for Ise lobster, Matsusaka beef, and local beef; I chose the local beef. The reddish-brown sauce in the shabu-shabu was absolutely delicious. Activities: Chinese-speaking guides can be requested for tours of Ise. The hotel didn't email us in advance to inform us about activities or inquire about arrangements. Many activities were unavailable upon check-in. Summary: Aside from the inconvenient transportation and the lack of advance email communication about activities during my stay, everything was fine."

"I have two feelings about this stay. 1. The photo posted by this website was a lie - the room was very different to the reality. For a start there was no in room onsen and that had been a major factor in me making this booking. I was really disappointed on arrival. 2. However it has to be said the staff are fabulous, the food excellent and everything about the place shows a tremendous attention to detail. After a lovely long soak in the Onsen available to guests and a fabulous dinner my mood was quite recovered. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for someone looking for a luxurious retreat and plan to return myself."
