Holiday Inn Express WAKEFIELD by IHG ★★★

📍 Queen St, Wakefield

"The room has 2 single beds, a lot of space, and the bedding is soft and comfortable. The breakfast is also great, the staff is very friendly, and it is very close to the city center supermarket and 6 minutes to Wakefield West Gate Railway Station. The hotel front desk also let us store our boxes in the hotel in advance. I will recommend it to my friends and will book this hotel next time."

"A cheap and cheerful stay. Decor needs updating. Chips, missing paint and so on, needs some TLC, but for £49 you cannot complain too much"

Cbh Waterton Park Hotel and Spa ★★★★
"What an amazing experience visiting the Waterton Spa. The staff were extremely friendly and the rooms were very impressive for what we paid. I was not expecting a suite-like experience, and the ambience of the room was perfect. There were absolutely huge bathtubs, a writing desk, a television, a Henry VIII style bed, and room service ready to go. Sophie at the front desk was extremely friendly. She took care of all our needs and was professional, studious, and made sure everything was looked after for us. This visit was for a very special occasion, our anniversary, and she gave us a complimentary box of chocolates, which was a very thoughtful touch. The history of the Waterton Resort Spa is genuinely fascinating. The estate was once the home of Charles Waterton, a well-known naturalist and explorer. He travelled widely and returned to his estate with a deep respect for nature. He built a boundary wall around the grounds to protect wildlife and created what is recognised as the first ever nature reserve. The manor house itself is absolutely beautiful, full of character, and it is located on its own private island, which adds to the charm and atmosphere of the place. We stayed in the newly added section of the estate on the adjacent side, which was built in the same traditional style to match the manor house. The setting, the architecture, and the history of the grounds made the whole stay feel very special. The entire experience was absolutely amazing. For dinner, we ate in the spa section of the manor house, and Theo was brilliant in looking after our needs throughout the evening. Whether you are going for an anniversary or simply a weekend getaway, the spa, hot tubs, Jacuzzis, steam room, and sauna are all top notch. The staff are extremely friendly, the food is excellent, and the whole experience is well worth the money. I cannot recommend the place enough. The staff have been brilliant. Thank you so much, Sophie 💖🥰, for everything."

Travelodge Wakefield Woolley Edge M1 Northbound ★★★
"It's really hard to review Travelodge because you always know what to expect. Decent, comfortable, accommodation at a budget price with no surprises. Wakefield Woolley Edge North was no different, except that motorway noise was a lot less troublesome than I thought it might be. I live in the country and thought that being a few 100m from the M1 might be an issue at night but it wasn't 👍"

The Kiln Hotel, Part of AG Collection, Wakefield ★★★
"Cheap and cheerful is the best way to describe this hotel. It is situated on an industrial estate. Reception is a corner of the bar. I was greeted by a friendly member of staff when I arrived. The bar area is very clean and well spaced out. However if you arrive at the weekend at night the only food available is sandwiches or pizza and kitchen closes at 8pm. The rooms are in a separate building which look like a low rise block of flats. The rooms are very clean but they are stuck in the 1970’s. Bed super comfy for me and linen pristine white as are the towels. Plenty of tea and coffee available. Though would be nice if they offered decaf tea as well as coffee. Breakfast was included in my price which was excellent. This hotel is mostly used by workers who need an overnight stay. When I went out of my room there were plenty of staff cleaning every thing on site. The signage was being wiped down. Stair hand rails being cleaned, carpark was immaculate. All in all if you are looking for a cheap stop over and don’t mind 1970’s decor this is a good place to stay."
