"This Showa-era business hotel is right outside Matsue Station's South Exit. The lobby is sunken, which might be a bit inconvenient for those with heavy luggage. The room facilities are quite old, there's no outlet by the bed, and power is activated by an old-fashioned key card system (or rather, a key). The large public bath on the top floor wasn't open, and the elevator is also very small. When you go out, you need to hand your key to the front desk, and when you return, you show a card with your room number to retrieve your key and meal voucher. They offer free breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is a buffet with limited options, and for dinner, you can choose between a curry set meal or a daily Japanese-style set. All in all, for just over 200 a night, including breakfast and dinner, what more could you ask for? If it doesn't mind my budget, I won't mind its age."

"Suitenkaku was our first stay in a Ryokan. Those who want to visit Tottori, Izumo and Sakaiminato will find Matsue well located, while the Ryokan is next door to the Ichibata railway deserving the Izumo Taisha. The room was renovated and very spacious, offering a direct view to the lake. Above all, the staff was absolutely friendly and helpful. Real Omotenashi ! We are fully satisfied with our stay. Will repeat for our next stay in the area."

"It’s really a very good hotel. I didn’t expect anything from Shimagen, but from the beginning of landing at Izumo Airport, all the way to the hotel, I met very warm and friendly people. The staff of the bridge management were very enthusiastic and responsible. The design and facilities of the hotel can be said that I have lived in the top three in all Japanese hotels. The design is obviously very attentive, convenient and practical, not fancy, simple and generous, and the room is really clean. The hotel is on the right hand side of the station and the traffic is convenient. The reception staff at the front desk were not only enthusiastic and patient, but also specially printed the Chinese version of the hotel guide, moved, great praise! ! !"

"Although the public areas of this hotel look outdated, the rooms are modern and clean. However, the room is too small for two people. Considering the location and price, it's decent for just an overnight stay."

"I couldn't get a room at my usual hotel so I stayed here. It's right in front of Izumo Station and the shuttle bus to Izumo Airport is right in front of it. There are convenience stores nearby, Seven and Lawson, so you won't have any trouble having dinner at a nearby izakaya. The room was also very clean. There was a morning newspaper service in the elevator hall. There aren't many long-term stays, so there is no laundry, so I went to a coin laundry about a 5-minute walk away. They do dry cleaning. The only thing that bothered me about my stay was the shower curtain! It smelled like damp laundry, so I couldn't relax in the bathtub. I think they're busy, so even if it's impossible to dry it properly every time, I wish they could at least make it possible to change it. Other than that, it was really good. Also, you take the amenities you need from the lobby up, but It said that you can only have one per stay. I'm a woman, and I don't do much skin care, so one pouch of lotion and cream was enough for me to use morning and night, but I think it wouldn't be enough for someone who takes care of things properly. However, I realized that the location in front of the station is really convenient, so I'd like to visit again if I can make a reservation.^_^"

"An affordable hotel with a large public bath. You can enjoy the hot waters of Matsue Shinjiko Onsen. The room is small but Japanese-style, and there are USB type-C and type-A outlets next to the pillow. Rental bicycles are available. There is also a convenience store called Popura on the first floor, which may be useful for those who want to stay within the hotel. The downtown area is a little far, but you can get there by renting a bicycle."

"Matsue Excel Hotel Tokyu was our 5th hotel in this journey, and honestly, it set the bar pretty high. The location was hard to beat — right opposite Matsue Station, and it could be easily reached through an underpass, which was especially helpful when travelling with big luggage or during bad weather. One big surprise for us was the check-in experience. We arrived at the hotel at around 11.30am, fully expecting to leave our luggage and return later, but we were told that our room was already ready and we could occupy it immediately instead of waiting until the usual 3pm check-in time. It also seemed that they upgraded our booking to a Standard Double Room, which made the experience even better. Two thumbs up for this hotel. Even though we had booked a Standard Single Room, the space genuinely surprised us. The room came with a queen bed and was more than comfortable for two of us. We were able to fully open our large suitcases without feeling cramped — something that is not always guaranteed in Japanese hotels. The room layout was practical and well thought out, with a proper TV console and work desk with a chair, a single sofa with a small table, an air purifier, and a fridge. The TV model was a bit outdated, though it did not affect our stay. The bathroom was also spacious, with a proper bathtub that allowed us to stretch our legs comfortably after long days out. The bed was very comfy, and they provided two pillows for each of us, which made our sleep even better. Amenities and bottled water were provided at the lobby area, which we found convenient. We paid around SGD159 (JPY19,000) for two nights, and it was excellent value. Overall, it was one of the best hotels in this journey, and we would gladly stay here again."

"This hotel is truly amazing! I appreciate a lot on: - warm and friendly staff who could not speak much English but were very nice to explain to me the details of the hotel - gorgeous garden where you could take a seat and enjoy the view - free Japanese alcohol at 1500-1800 (soft drinks until 2100) - impressive free Japanese cultural performance at 2110 - quick and positive response despite I made several urgent requests due to sudden plan change - free shuttle bus service between JR station and hotel if you approached front desk for information - the environment of the public bath was quite clean - totally different food combination in dinner for 2 nights Considering the price I paid for such service, I would say the quality is definitely beyond my expectation. :) Thank you every hotel staff who made my experience a better stay!!"

"Recommended for women and couples! Location: It is located in front of the station and is close to Izumo station from the window of the room. [Facilities] There are many amenities and almost everything you need. Hair dryers and hair irons are also available. The entrance, large communal bath, and rooms are clean and cute.
