The stay was generally satisfactory. Check in and check out processes were smooth, and the staff were polite and professional. The room was clean and reasonably comfortable, though some furnishings showed minor signs of wear. Noise levels were acceptable, and basic amenities were provided as expected. WiFi connection was stable for most of the stay. Breakfast offered a limited but adequate selection. Overall, the hotel met standard expectations for its price range and would be suitable for short business or leisure stays.

The location of the hotel is great, right in the city center and convenient for dining. A three-minute walk will take you to the circular train. Recently, the government has subsidized all trains for free. Very cost-effective. Recommended.
To take the free bus shuttle to the hotel, after the luggage is extracted on the first floor, the elevator goes up to the second floor and turns left across the bridge, and then goes downstairs on the left hand side, which is the bus waiting point. Each hotel bus is different, with white, red, yellow and green colors, and several shared buses. This must be confirmed by phone with the hotel in advance.
Make an appointment for the bus to the airport tomorrow or later after arriving at the hotel.
The surrounding facilities are complete, and the supermarket restaurant gas station is all available. The front desk service is professional and the room is large and clean. Breakfast is not rich but the weight is sufficient. The restaurant has hot water and coffee black tea at any time. There are many companies within a 15-minute drive, suitable for business travel.
With a stay at The Birches in Lake Leelanau, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Lake Michigan and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This apartment is 0.1 mi (0.1 km) from Lake Leelanau and 0.2 mi (0.2 km) from Boathouse Vineyards.
Free self parking is available onsite.
Make yourself at home in one of the 5 guestrooms. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected.
Overall pretty good. The biggest advantage is that it is close to the airport, and the hotel has a shuttle bus. You only need to tell the front desk what time to leave, and then get down early and wait for the bus to the hotel. Everything is very convenient.
The room was nice and clean, but nothing too special. The shower having an open pane and not being able to shut was odd, but as a solo person it didn't bother me. The only real negative thing was that my next door neighbors were being very loud with their, uh, late night activities and the door between the rooms didn't limit that noise much at all. Good hotel overall though.

SSamitraThe room and hotel was great. I don’t like that you do have to pay.$20 per day for parking or you will need to use the city parking but you can’t park over night as city parking expires at midnight. The location has no pool but has a nice roof top. Drinks were pretty reasonable. Over all it was nice.
GGuest UserThis hotel is nice. It was clean. It is farther away from downtown Rochester Hills than the website indicates. We were disappointed that there wasn't a hot tub, just a very small indoor pool. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Two floors of the hotel were filled with kids' hockey teams that were running wild on the other floors, including our floor. The breakfast room the following morning was much the same, the kids were yelling, running around, making a mess of everything while the parents were conversing with the other parents. Total disrespect to the rest of guests. The kids were mixing all the different juices together and then throwing it out because it didn't taste good, throwing away bananas they didn't peel, just wasting food. I know this was not the hotels fault. It's just a shame the parents or the kids had no regard for all the other patrons. We had to wait for the sole person manning the breakfast room to refill most of the breakfast items. There was a nice selection of hot and cold food once it was replenished. I would still stay at this hotel again
GGuest UserThe location is terrific ! Right on the water. We booked a king room, it was so tiny there was not even a place to put the luggage, and the cigarette smoke residue and chemicals used to cover it up were overwhelming ! The front desk kindly gave us an upgrade to a penthouse suite at no additional charge. The suite worked out well. The hotel is older and vintage, the rooms reflect that but are in desperate need of a facelift,,,seam split wall paper, dingy corners, cheap carpet and very chintzy cabinetry circa 90s builder grade oak that is worn, scratched and mismatched to the old fashioned cherry dressers. The suite had an apartment sized refrigerator, microwave and kitchenette sink, all mismatched, white fridge, black microwave, stainless sink. Not a bit of kitchen gear supplied,,,no sponge, no towel, not even a paper towel. The TVs were tiny as well !
The bar however was lovely, excellent cocktails and nibbles. The grounds and harbor view were grand, easy and ample parking and the staff attentive. Its a good hotel,,,just really worn out !!
GGuest UserThe hotel is average, run by Indians, the front desk and the staff are asking for advice, the security environment is average, but the price is reasonable.
Grand Rapids is a small city, and there are several breweries in the downtown area that are pretty good.
AAnonymous UserI didn't use the shuttle because it was only about a 5-minute ride for $13 by Uber.
The female staff were very friendly.
Although the building is old, it was well-maintained and clean; there were no bugs at all, and the room had a refrigerator and a microwave.
The air conditioning and ventilation worked well, and the vending machines in the hallway sold drinks and water for $1.50, which was very cheap. Cold water is also sold at the front desk. Almost everything I needed was there.
The shower pressure wasn't weak, but everything was fine except for the toilet pressure being so low that I had to flush twice. The area around the building was brightly lit with streetlights all night, and there were 24-hour facilities nearby, such as McDonald's, so the area felt safe. I am satisfied.
GGuest UserI've stayed here 3 times (3-5 days each) in the last decade. Each time has been excellent. Attractions: indoor pool/hot tub, free cold (cereal, bagels, juice) and hot breakfast (sausage, scrambled eggs; waffles if you wanted to make them), free parking, and only 5-minute walk from everything on Main Street in Frankenmuth. Room was clean, furniture was in good condition, plenty of hot water. I appreciated the shoe/hat/gloves cubbyholes next to the coat rack (which had plenty of hangers). I didn't need them this time, but an ironing board/iron and hair dryer were available. I didn't use the TV or microwave, but the fridge was very useful, and kept things cold. Standard wireless internet access worked fine (both for laptop and a phone). I booked about 2 weeks in advance, non-refundable rate to save some money. All staff and managers were friendly and helpful. Twice there were fresh-baked cookies put out at the front desk. I am very pleased and will stay there again. Highly recommend!
GGuest Userthree main issues with my stay.
1) the shower was ridiculous - it literally took fifteen minutes to get anything like warm water coming out of the shower. I was lucky because I had time - if i was there for business and pressed to get out to a meeting, I would have been very upset. On the day I left, I was able to do my packing and tidy the room in the time it took for the water to run hot. Total waste of water
2) the closet had broken hinges on the door - not a huge issue, but generally made the room feel unloved and not cared for. Very simple maintenance could fix it, but no one cared enough to fix. Shows a lack of quality control for the customer experience
3) the walls were very thin - i could hear my neighbor come back at 2:45 am, play music on their phone, run the shower and then partake in some amorous night time activities through the wall.
in general the location is good, service from the front desk and the housekeeping was good, parking is convenient
GGuest UserGreat customer service. Close to highways and shopping. Close to restaurants. My family enjoyed the stay, and the pool was very clean, which is a must for me.
