"On arrival at the airport I conveniently found a van of the Ceiba hotel without booking one. Check-in was easy (payment only at departure) and a porter brought up my luggage. Soon after having settled down a bowl of fresh fruit was brought to my room. There was also a welcome letter by the general manager on the bed. From my big windows I had great views over the city and towards the National Assembly building just opposite. The room was of a good size and had all I needed: a comfortable double bed, a large desk with complimentary water and a coffee machine plus an empty fridge. Also the bathroom was of a high standard. At night it was quiet and I always had a good sleep. Room service was excellent and always done in the morning. For breakfast, which starts at 7am, there is a rich buffet with plenty of fruit and exotic juices (baobab, hibiscus, velvet tamarind, cashew apple, carob). My favourite breakfast choice besides the fruit were fried eggs and feijoa. I always came for dinner here as well, but about the restaurant 'Bioko' there is an other entry in Tripadvisor. After dinner I liked to go for a relaxing stay to the Warehouse Club bar, which opens at 8pm, and to drink a local Caipirinha Limâo. Bissau is not a big city and from the hotel I could easily walk to the center, towards the main squares, the Avenue Amilcar Cabral, the old quarter Bissau Velho, thze fortress and the port. After my visits I usually spent a great part of the afternoon by the well sized swimming pool at the back of the hotel. All in all I enjoyed my stay at this hotel in this quite pleasant little town."

"They have made many mistakes. The experience would have been forgivable, but there is no excuse for overcharging. Honesty and reliability are some of the only things that truly matter when you hand a card to someone. Overcharging is unacceptable."

"This hotel doesn’t seem to know what it’s doing. I checked in & was resting in the room, but I couldn’t rest because people kept on banging on the door to clean the room that I had just checked into. WiFi is spotty in the rooms. The restaurant had no a/c on at dinner, & they were reluctant to turn it on. The staff seemed to do everything in their own way. Two people took my order while I waited in the lobby for the a/c to cool the restaurant. I returned about 20 mins later, & another person, who was standing next to the guy I gave my order to, asked for my order. Why don’t they talk to each other? Why didn’t it occur to anyone that many clients prefer air conditioning to sitting in a stuffy, hot room??? The location is great, but they have a lot of work to do to make this a welcoming & pleasant place to stay."

"Situated in the very center of Bissau, next to the main street and close to either Praca Imperio or harbour. The rooms are spacious and clean, a huge roof garden allows hanging around. But unfortunately there is no restaurant or bar that would make the stay on that terrace even more pleasant. But no worries: Just on the opposite of the road is a very good restaurant...or even two (I just tried one ot them)! I think that Coimbra is really an affordable hotel in the center of the capital; it might not compare to high standard hotels around the world, but you even do not pay for a high standard hotel. The staff is polite and helpful."
