Centurion Hotel Ueno was a complete disappointment, falling short of basic hospitality standards. The deception started right at check-in: the room was explicitly advertised and booked as a ”Casual Double Bed,” but what we actually received was a cramped single bed. This blatant misrepresentation immediately compromised the comfort of our stay.

The lack of care extended into the bathroom, which was a major letdown. The sink and shower area were marred by very bad, visible marks that made the entire space feel neglected and unhygienic. For a hotel that positions itself in a convenient location like Ueno, the absolute disregard for accurate room descriptions and rigorous housekeeping is unacceptable.

I chose this hotel in Ikebukuro for my trip to Tokyo. It's about a five-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station, which makes getting around quite convenient. There's a 7-Eleven right outside the hotel, so it's easy to pick up anything you need at any time. The front desk is on the third floor. Check-in was quick, and you can ask for multiple room cards if needed. There's also a hotel tax to pay, and the staff were all very friendly. For breakfast, you get a voucher when you check in. It's served on the second floor, and the dining hours are quite long, until 11 am. The set meals included in the voucher price are all good, with both Western and Japanese options, plus a self-serve beverage station. However, if it's not enough, you'll need to order and pay extra. The air conditioning in the room was comfortable, the shower had good water pressure, and the TV display was clear. Everything was great except for the Wi-Fi being a bit slow. On the first day, there were two complimentary bottled waters in the room, but after that, you have to go to the third floor to refill your own. For convenience, we just bought water from 7-Eleven. Other amenities like yukatas, toothbrushes, and towels can also be picked up from the third floor. On our last day, after checking out, we stored our luggage and went out for a bit. The weather was very hot these days, and when we returned, the staff thoughtfully offered us chilled wet wipes. They also gave us a warm send-off when we left. Overall, a very good stay.

The staff were friendly and nice, but you have to go to a separate building to use the bathhouse. Keep in mind that this is a hostel (meaning it's a dormitory-style accommodation).

The hotel is in a prime location, just a four-minute walk from Ueno Station. The surrounding streets are lively and filled with plenty of restaurants and shops.

However, some of the hotel facilities feel quite dated, particularly the bedroom. At only 12 square metres, the room was too small for us to have a fully comfortable stay.

Most of the staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive whenever we encountered a problem. We especially enjoyed the spa and onsen facilities, which were a highlight of our stay.

The front lobby looks pretty and very clean. The room we were given had a hold on the curtain from previous smoking burn and room smells so bad despite the smking treatment mentioned when reserving the room. Other than this, location is the best and easy to lots of restaurants.

Pretty convenient location. A lot of restaurants around. But the rooms are very very small.. barely any room for the bathroom. So might not be ideal for families. But good for solo travelers or 2 people in each room.

Every time I go to Tokyo, I always stay at this hostel because the location is super close to the station. There are lots of street food options and 7/11s around, plus they have a washing machine, dryer, and best of all, a sauna! 🤩

I lost my passport but they helped me to find it. And I faced an issue regarding my reservation but they helped it too!

The room was big enough for two grown men and everything was clean and quite.
The location was perfect. It was in the middle of Tokyo so it took around 30~40 mins to get the places we had to go.
And also there are some nice Izakaya and Yakotori places around the hotel. 
It was such a good experience for both of us. Thank you for the support again.

Conveniently located yet surprisingly quiet. Their triple room had very large beds, making for a comfortable stay. Although it's two JR stops from Sannomiya, it's still very convenient. You can actually walk to Sannomiya, Ikuta Shrine, and the waterfront. It's also very easy to get to Maiko. There's a supermarket nearby. If you walk to Sannomiya, you can go through the shopping street, which has lots of fun little shops, cafes, and dining options.

A very cozy hotel with wonderful breakfasts overlooking the bay and friendly staff. The rooftop offers a magnificent view. The onsen was pleasant. I recommend it. It was a bit tricky finding the exit from the train station, but the hotel staff gave us directions and we managed to find our way. There are a lot of steps when crossing the road, making it impossible with luggage...

Convenient check-in: Very convenient, close to Susukino subway station with a FamilyMart downstairs.

Safety: The entire hotel spans from the 3rd to 8th floor. You'll need to check in at the front desk on the 8th floor, then transfer to an internal elevator to access rooms on other floors.

Facilities: All facilities are very comprehensive, including a restaurant, public bath, entertainment, and a library.

Hygiene: Clean and tidy, with private areas. I recommend booking a room type with a private space.
