Grand King Hotel

Grand King Hotel

📍 Lavalle 560, San Nicolas, Buenos Aires
★★★ 8.3 (123 reviews)

"Although majestically placed in the heart of the Microcentro, or perhaps relying on this sole fact, the staff was one of the rudest and less helpful I've seen in a hotel in this price range in Latin America. They refused to speak any other language other than Spanish, and when requested to speak slowly so we could listen through the porteño accent, they didn't. When asked about their room service, the answer was a dry "scan the QR code". When asked about what would be open (it was Christmas), they told us to ask around the street. Luckily, the people on the streets were far more warm and helped us get around the city better. The rooms were good and appropriately clean."

Hotel Regis ★★
"The location is excellent, right by the pedestrian street next to the Obelisco, with easy access to many bus routes for convenient travel. It's also within walking distance of all the main attractions. There are several restaurants and supermarkets nearby, making daily life very convenient. The room was tidy, clean, and spacious, but there was no kettle. Hot and cold drinking water was available 24/7 on the second floor. The staff were enthusiastic and attentive, although a few didn't speak English and required a translation app, but everything was handled without issues."

Traveling with friends
Milhouse Avenue ★★
"Large hostel ideally located next to the Obelisk and the main city squares. Housed in a historic building with high ceilings and an interior courtyard, the setting is quite charming. The dormitory rooms are above average in quality, with nice bathrooms. A word of caution about the first-floor rooms: in addition to the usual late-night noise common in hostels, these are plagued by the deafening hum of the building’s central air conditioning vents. The noise is relentless, making earplugs not just recommended but absolutely essential — even more so than in most hostels. On the positive side, the Wi-Fi works surprisingly well. The staff are kind, approachable, and full of helpful suggestions. The bar on the ground floor is a great communal space — spacious enough to hang out with friends."
