This one of a kind property, formerly a Historic Grist mill (with ruins still on the property to explore) is surrounded on 3 sides by the Jay Branch River, a crystal clear mountain stream that runs down from Jay peak. The property is filled with Cedar and Maple and the sound of the River permeates through the trees. With multiple swimming holes and a 20 foot waterfall just steps from the deck there’s not another VRBO like this in the state of Vermont. The interior is thoughtfully designed with a mix of modern and classic Vermont touches. The kitchen is equipped with brand-new stainless-steel appliances that are accompanied by hand-painted cabinets of local scenes by a local artist. The living room boasts Cedar walls, Bentwood rockers and a Sandstone wood burning stove stocked for the winter with logs, a perfect place to unwind after a long day of skiing or hiking. The bedrooms are cozy and unique each packed with extra pillows and comfy memory foam mattresses. The Basement has been redesigned with a stylish checkered floor, thrifted Italian marble tables, 12 foot table shuffle board, and a wall of vintage Vermont-Life magazines that send you back to a simpler time in Vermont's history. But the outside is where our home really shines, set back from the road in a wooded enclave it's extremely private, with multiple different spaces to hang out and unwind all with river views. From a thoughtfully styled screened in porch to a large outdoor wrap around deck with a charcoal grill, a 6-person cedar barrel sauna with Forest views from inside and a large bonfire space lit up with string lights there’s so many different ways to enjoy our property. Jump in one of the many swimming holes or bring some folding chairs to the edge of the river it’s really a property you have to come experience for yourself pictures and explanations don’t do it justice. Northwoods Guest Cabin is a tiny-house with a sleeping loft. The steps to the sleeping loft are steep, so if you have mobility issues, this may not be the best choice for you. The back porch overlooks the woods and a flowing stream. There's a small kitchen and bathroom. The house has a private entrance as it is a stand-alone guesthouse. There is WiFi, though it can be finicky up here. The kitchen has basic spices, pots/pans, and dishes. There are starbucks coffee and tea set-ups. The bathroom is stocked with toiletries and towels. Note that there isn't a dishwasher or washer/dryer. You'd be close to cross-country skiing and hikes at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, Craftsbury has two general stores. There are three public libraries in our small town. Nearby, we have eclectic museums; Bread and Puppet Museam and Theater, The Museam of Everyday Life, The Highland Center of the Arts, The Old Stonehouse Museam is a cool destination in summer as is Craftsbury Historical Society on the Common. We are a 40-minute drive to Lake Willoughby State Park, 30 minutes from Elmore State Park, 10 minutes from Barr Hill Conservation Area , 45 minutes from Stowe restaurants, including Trapp Lodge and bike path. A bit further to Mt. Mansfield and from Jay Peak. There are multiple dining options. The Black Bird Bistro is the favored gathering place, though the Highland Lodge serves food as does both of our General Stores. We have a seasonally delightful option, Hinterland, which features 1st class homemade food as well as selling the most eclectic sundry of items anywhere around. Willey's is a favorite gathering place for groceries, hardware/clothing...with the motto, If You Can't Find It at Willey's, You Don't Need It. Parker Pie in Glover (over the mountain) features a wild array of draft options and The Best Pizza. Hardwick is about 20 minutes from the cabin and features the primo coffee house in the area, The Front Seat. There's also the best breakfast at the Diner in Hardwick, and Positive Pie is consistently delicious. Morristown also has many shopping and dining options and is about a 30 minute drive. Greensboro, where Willey's is, is about 10 minutes away as is the Farmstead Brewery. Barton, 30 minutes away, is where Parker Restaurant is and offers more casual but finer dining. We love it there. You'd be about an hour from Jay Peak and all it has to offer.I can go on, but I'll stop there. For a town of 1000, I'm struck by the richness of beauty, recreational options, culture, and rural landscape right here! Enjoy!PS: We are pet-friendly.
