Open May - November this is a wilderness cabin with beaver, eagles, mink, moose, and silence. We are surrounded by forest all around and our two neighbors are rarely heard from or seen at all. The small river is accessible right out your front door, and kids like to splash, catch and net things! But so many things to do beckon beyond the cabin property it's almost overwhelming. The Lake Superior Hiking Trail (which runs from Duluth to Canada) is very nearby. Devils Track Lake, a rather large lake has good fishing and swimming is down the road a couple of miles. The galleries, food and music in 'town' are extraordinary. Grand Marais really has become quite a hub for artists of all types. The North House Folk School is a one of a kind craftshop with adult classes and the Gunflint Tavern features local and national talent in a funky intimate atmosphere. Almost half of the people who stay at our cabin are repeat visitors. When you read our guestbook you can see the fun (and quiet relaxation) unfold for so many, rain or shine.About pets:Pets allowed: less than 50 lbs per pet (limit 2 pets total).Any and all pets are $150 for your stay..About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 3-17.The little pond in front is shallow..About checkIn:Check in after 3:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.Outside only and pick up butts please..About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 18.About events:Events allowed: family gatherings and birthday parties.Maximum event attendees: 6.

Hope you'll like it!)Charming off-grid cabin surrounded by beautiful forest, starry skies, and wildlife. Campfires, hammocks, and seclusion await you at this sweet cottage. While enjoying the tranquility of this cabin, it's hard to believe Lake Superior and Grand Marais are less than five minutes away. Enjoy the nearby waterfalls, shorelines, and new bike path along the big Lake.Well-stocked kitchen with propane stove. Gallery stairs lead to a loft with a comfy queen bed. There is also full size futon downstairs, a little wood stove and solar-powered lights and USB charger. It's hard to believe off-grid living could be this cozy. That said, it's not for everyone. Guests will need to tidy up the cabin for the next guests as well (therefore there is no cleaning fee).If you're looking for a unique lodging experience that is still comfortable and charming in a location that feels totally secluded but is just outside of Grand Marais, this is the spot!About pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 12:00 PM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.Lofted Bed with galley stairs may be a hazard..About checkIn:Check in after 3:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 22.About events:No events allowed.

Enjoy the peace of the woods just 5 minutes from downtown Grand Marais! The Camper Cabin at Basecamp du Nord offers a rustic basecamp for your North Shore adventure. Like most traditional camper cabins, we provide a warm, dry place to sleep and relax, share a board game or a meal. There is no running water or kitchen, but a grill and fire pit are provided for guests. A clean and well-lit outhouse is located near the cabin. Some drinking water is provided but we recommend you bring additional water. Showers are available at the local YMCA for $13 or at the municipal campground in Grand Marais. The Camper Cabin DOES have electricity and heat. We like to compare our experience to camping but with a solid roof over your head and a comfy bed. Guests must bring their own linens.
