"Overnight stay following a wedding. Great location for our purpose. Room was clean and had all of the expected amenities and services. Tea tray was well stocked. Check in is 2pm, which was awkward as the wedding service was at 1:30. I booked two rooms so paid an additional £20 to check in early at one of these rooms. I telephoned the reservations team on two occasions a few days prior to our stay to enquire about the check in process and how access to the room would be facilitated since we would not be returning from the wedding until 1am. My only criticism would be the lack of clarity I received from the respondents. As a result of the insufficient answers to my questions, I made provision to leave the wedding venue during the day to check in at the second room. Upon arrival at the Two Rivers, all my additional arrangements were negated as the gentleman who checked us in, allowed us to check in for the second room there and then and take the key card. Other family members were staying in the room and I was paying for it. The access to the room was via a separate accommodation block and simply using the key card. All my additional arrangements to check in during the day were unnecessary. It would have been very easy if the respondents to my telephone calls earlier that week had given me that information. We had a good night's sleep and the breakfast was excellent and very reasonably priced."

"First visit and incredibly impressed. The staff were super attentive and helpful, I had a very specific food request which they were more than willing to accommodate and super subtle too. The food was excellent, honestly the best roast beef I've eaten out. We were given the choice to sit in or out and choose to sit outside under a large umbrella. The atmosphere was luxury but relaxed and everything was extremely well considered. My only tip would be to be aware that parking is limited, we had to park at Tintern Abbey and walk up but that was no hardship."

"Very comfortable stay in a private house with easy access and cheap parking over the road, close to all amenities and kitchen facilities. The courtyard to the rear was perfect on a sunny day before the races and the landlord was very helpful thank you!"

"We were spending a long weekend with our friends and they suggested this venue for Sunday lunch as they’d dined here on a previous occasion. You can tell it’s a family run hotel as the service was far less corporate than those encountered when visiting chains which is a nicer experience. It looks old fashioned and has a very comfy seating area which includes an open fire if you want to relax but we went for food and none of our party were disappointed. One had the vegetarian option , 2 had pork and one roast beef , all came accompanied with top quality vegetables which you could instantly see were freshly cooked and they certainly didn’t skimp on the with meat , very generous portions and extremely tender , the Yorkshire puds were just mmmmm ! The service was equally impressive , will definitely go back when on our next visit to friends ."

"Stayed at two rivers as I was attending a wedding nearby. Room only. Pros: Ample parking Allowed me to pick up my keycard early (as I would be at the wedding until after 10pm) Taylors coffee bags and Yorkshire tea in the room were better than the average hotel tea and coffee. Cons: The toilet seat was broken and had sticky tape holding it together. Not sure this is very sanitary. I would stay here again but for £120 per night a taped up toilet seat is not good enough."

"Don’t be fooled by social media. While the hotel looks great on the surface, the service was extremely poor and consistently missed the mark. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless there are significant improvements in staff training and management, as the lack of service really let down what should have been an enjoyable stay. Our room had dirty marks all over the carpet, and used coffee pods from the previous stay had been left behind. When we entered the restaurant, we waited at the desk to be seated outside and were told by a member of the front-of-house team to go and find someone else inside who would seat us, with no indication of who we should speak to or where to go. We went inside but there was no one there to seat us, so we returned to the original staff member, who made us feel very uncomfortable, as though we were wasting his time. We eventually decided to sit in the bar area instead. We then waited over 10 minutes to order a drink at the bar, despite only three people being ahead of us in the queue and four members of staff working behind the bar. The staff appeared to be chatting amongst themselves with little urgency to serve waiting customers. The poor service continued when our food arrived, as we asked for cutlery and waited another five minutes before it was brought over. We made another attempt to get a drink from the bar later in the evening. Despite the bar being noticeably quiet and well staffed, this again took over 10 minutes, with only two people ahead of us and three members of staff working. We also sat outside in the garden and found our table surrounded by rubbish left by previous diners, with no apparent attempt to clear it despite staff being nearby. The tables were smeared with dried ketchup and clearly hadn’t been properly wiped down. There was also loud music being played in the garden area late into the evening, well past 11pm. This could be clearly heard from the Garden Rooms and was disruptive when trying to sleep. If you are staying in one of these rooms, I would be particularly mindful of this. The following morning at breakfast, we waited approximately 45 minutes for our food to arrive, despite there being only three occupied tables in the restaurant. I was particularly disappointed with the “red berry smoothie bowl”, which eventually arrived after around 40 minutes and turned out to be yoghurt with granola, with no smoothie blend in sight. More concerningly, it was labelled as vegan but had clearly been made with dairy yoghurt. Had the staff informed me of the change, I wouldn’t have minded, but not communicating a change to the ingredients is disappointing, particularly when it means the dish is completely different from what is described on the menu. My partner’s breakfast arrived with fried eggs that were completely cooked through and cold toast. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay. The hotel has clearly invested heavily in its appearance and social media presence, but the level of "

"We'd finished a canoe trip down the Wye and were looking for a room late in the evening. Luckily, Craig and Vicki had one available. Craig explained the codes and sent info over straight away. We found a very clean and cosy room ready for us and (after having tea at Stone Rock Pizza just up the road) had a very good shower and excellent night's sleep. We weren't there long enough to make use of the communal living room or kitchen, but both looked tidy and welcoming. Would definitely stay again. Thank you both."

"The room is an old hotel with a history of hundreds of years. If you like this atmosphere, you can experience it. It feels a bit like the game "Stephenci's Memory". I didn't give five stars because if you arrive at night, it feels like a game, and the bird food is a bit scary. If you are a girl, you should consider it. Self-check-in, old houses naturally have inconveniences, but the price is there after all."

"A great place to stay when visiting the Chepstow area. We stayed in The Loft which is a large studio bedroom with kitchen area, sitting area and large bathroom with shower and roll top bath. There is everything you need for a self catering break. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. Outside patio for guests to use. Offas Duke path is just outside the back gate and Wintour's leap view is a 2 minute walk. Chepstow is a lovely small town with a few independent shops, good pubs and a castle. The Riverside is lovely for a stroll or to sit and watch the Peregrine Falcons swooping on the cliffs."
