The Chermside Apartments ★★★★

📍 22 Thomas St, Chermside

"An absolutely excellent place stay, would recommend, even just based on the staff and the breakfast. I observed that great care was taken of people checking in to stay who would be going to the hospitals local to the area. Check-in was so easy, and the reception staff was very kind. Things I loved: * the included healthy breakfast, * free on-site parking *Ferrari in the reception area (no idea why it's there, and I'm no car enthusiast, but it is a classy touch) * very friendly and kind staff * neat and good layout of room * comfortable bed * good air conditioning * friendly people throughout the building * walking distance to Chermside shopping centre * excellent price Thing I didn't like as much: * not really sound-proofed, you sometimes hear sounds from other rooms and hallways * the balcony area did have a bit of a smell in the early evening, dissuading me from eating outside until later on - this might have just been the day I stayed. It was nice enough later to leave the door open and have a bit of a breeze while sleeping. Highly recommended."

Chermside Motor Inn ★★★

📍 644 Gympie Rd, Chermside

"There was a friendly guy at reception to check us in and we often chatted with him around the property. It's not expensive so you get what you pay for. Noisy. Gympie Road never sleeps! Not just traffic but road works started early. Other guests also noisy! Rooms adequate. Basic eating facilities. Microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle. Plates, cups and bowls, cutlery but nothing else. Tea towel but no washing up liquid or dishcloth. Bedding quite tatty. Our bottom sheet had small holes in and there's a blanket and bedspread on top which I hope get laundered between guests too. The bed base annoyingly moves away from the wall if you sit up in bed to watch TV and there isn't a sofa or soft chair option, so that's what you do. There is a guest laundry with a washing line too. The pool never looks very inviting as it's a weird green colour. The location is handy for the airport which is only about 20 minutes away and there are petrol stations along the way if you have a rental car to fill up. Aldi is right next door together with a few Asian food choices, a bottle shop and a florist. Bathroom ceiling has rust on the metal parts and needs attention."

The Chermside Apartments ★★★★
"First time I've stayed here. I was aware of the mixed reviews & I've stayed at other hotels in Chermie but they were booked out on this occasion. It was raining heavily when I arrived so appreciated the undercover parking spaces immediately outside the reception. Check-in was seamless (thx Trip.com) & they didn't require a security deposit or CC scan so my customer trust box was ticked :-) The car park is secure & at ground level but spaces are limited; I was able to find a spot though at 4pm. There is public parking out on the street without restriction after 5pm. I had a Hotel Queen Room on the 2nd floor. Easy access via lift and the common areas were clean & well lit. The room and bathroom were clean with a pleasant aroma & no smell of mould (reported by others), air-con was on. I had a choice of two sliding doors to access the balcony so good for fresh air (but no insect screen). Overall, the room was comfortable whilst showing some signs of wear & tear. The shower had a choice of either hand-held or fixed head (rainforest type) & had plenty of pressure - great. I would recommend bringing your own toiletries, unless you're happy with generic multi-function liquid soap! The fridge was empty except for a small uht milk with no complimentary springwater or mini-bar that you might find in other hotels. There was TV, tea/coffee making supplies and a small microwave. If you like to sleep in complete darkness (like me), bring an eye-mask as the hallway lighting outside the room is bright & on all night, creating an aura around the front door that is hard not to notice. The area was relatively quiet with the hotel located on a side street. It's an easy & short walk to a major shopping centre and the bus station if you need to head into Briz City, which is a 20-30min ride away & only $0.50 fare - awesome. Breakfast (from 7am) was also included but I had to head-off early so wasn't able to grab a bite this time. In summary, I felt that the room rate was appropriate and score my overall experience as good."

"The studio was clean, compact and comfortable. It had all the facilities I required including a fridge, cooktop and enough utensils/pots & pans to enable self-catering. The shower was great with plenty of water pressure ;-) The hotel has undercover parking and they were very happy to allow my vehicle to remain parked until the afternoon on the day of checkout when I had to go into the City - this was much appreciated Team! The hotel is a short walk from Westfield Chermside (I recommend a 90min de-stress at Total Fusion with a Rooftop Wellness Pass) and the bus interchange is also convenient for a 30min ride into the City. There are also plenty of vending machines in the Lobby to satisfy the sudden urge for any drinks/snacks if you are caught without supplies. The mini-breakfast bar is also a nice touch for cereals and bread that you can take back to your room to before heading out for the day's action. I'll be back :-)"

"For the last two years we had organised a stay for a group of 14 Match Officials for a rugby tournament. Dealing with the Manager before and during our stay was of a very high order. He ensured all our rooms were in close proximity, checked in with me as organiser a week before to confirm things and greeted as all on arrival. He was also very flexible in allowing us access to the laundry after hours to wash smelly kit. I can thoroughly recommend his customer service and positive approach."

"The Cheomside shopping mall is right across the traffic light. There is a 24-hour McDonald's right in front, and the friendly staff who know what you need and offer it to you before you ask were nice! In Korea, you can't use the washing machine at night, so I asked the hotel, and they told me that it is available 24 hours, so I was able to do my laundry comfortably. It was nice that there was a washing machine, dryer, stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, electric kettle, iron, and safe, and it was great value for money. It seems like a hotel where you can stay for a long time! However, there is a siren sound day and night and car noise, but I personally think that it is a big advantage, so I can cover up these points!"
