Absolutely loved everything about this place! I stayed overnight with my friend and her family. Yuta (owner's son) and his mother went above and beyond to give us spectacular experience! Food was top quality, facility was extremely clean, Onsen water was so silky, delicious Gelato and good opportunity to try varieties of Japanese alcohol. This place made our visit to Hokkaido extra special. Thank you for taking good care of us and spending quality time with Matthew! He adores you!! ps. Ask Yuta to make Esther's secret menu: pistachio affragato 😀

今回北海道外回り1周旅行で滞在。お値段も安いので3泊予約。ここを中継基地にして知床・羅臼に翌日は阿寒湖・摩周湖巡りをしました。教員住宅をリフォームしたので当然古さはありますがそれなりに綺麗ですし台所には食器から調理器具まで完備、お風呂のシャワーの水圧も充分。トイレも洗浄機能付きです。観光ドライブ帰りには近所？の地元スーパーで海産物を翌日はジンギスカンと観光料金ではない適正な値段で買えてとても満足した食事も出来ました。豪華なホテルで美味しい食事や温泉を希望する方には向いてないと思いますが早起きすると静かで清々しい朝を散歩することもできます。朝食を取ってそれから200kmぐらいのドライブをして夕方には食材を買って帰りお風呂に入って夕飯、美味しいお酒も堪能できとても楽な旅となりました。a uの電波が入りにくいのですがブースターを貸してくれます。オーナーの方も優しくてとても良い思い出になりました。

I chose this hotel because there is a large communal bath. I went to the bathroom thinking that there would be no small children after 22:00, but I had a child about ２ with my mother. The admission time is not fixed, so although I am a little disappointed, when I wash my body first, my child is making a loud noise. The content will be long, so it will be folded, but depending on the mother's response, it was a content that did not have to make a loud voice. Next, the child said ”pee”. There was a toilet right after leaving the bathroom, but my mother made it on the spot. Children (girls) urinate standing in the washroom, not toward the drain or corner (of course it's still out). My mother is showering toward it. Although there was a distance, the direction is facing me! I was stunned and wanted to yell, but I put up with it because I thought my child should not be traumatized. I urinate in my standing state, shower there, and scatter to what extent? I gave up because I had to pass by the site to go to the open-air bath I was looking forward to. Even if there are other guests, there are adults who are okay with this. No matter how clean the hotel is, it is irresistible because it is dirty by such guests. The other is an event at the breakfast buffet. It was just after the store opened, but it was quite lined up. A man dropped a small tong for miso soup ingredients (wakame?). I picked it up immediately and was looking for a staff member, but there was no staff member, and I put the tongs next to the ingredients. And when I got to my seat, I didn't go looking for the staff, but I started eating. I think some people were watching, but no one said anything. I think there were about 10 people in the meantime, but in my turn, the tongs were put in the ingredients and used. Due to the expansion of the corona, this is the situation where I am very careful about hygiene. In this case, I think it's a problem that the staff who can be called immediately were not in the dining room. It was a beautiful hotel, the room was large, and there was no problem with the customer service, but if you see people with such bad manners in just one night and two days, the impression of the hotel will be bad.

This was the most amazing stay of our 2-week Hokkaido trip. The design of the hotel was very nice, it is hard for a large hotel to feel homely and comfortable, but it did - walking around the lobby and dining areas was such a pleasant feeling, there is also a TV section where everyone enjoyed the documentaries on Shiretoko comfortably. The staff at the hotel were incredible, they were all very friendly and helpful, and seemed genuinely happy with their jobs - from the man at the front of the hotel welcoming us into the hotel and directing the cars to the carpark, to the front desk, and the servers and chefs at the restaurant - everyone was so friendly and nice. The breakfast and dinner buffet was amazingly good - usually I do not enjoy buffets as much, as the food is usually just average, but here, the food variety was amazing, and quality was so good! I had the freshest sashimi, very good desserts, good grilled beef and pork, ramen was amazing, and the fried food counter was so good. The rooms and onsen were comfortable and luxurious as well. The price we paid for the hotel was very well worth it! Thank you very much - we really enjoyed ourselves! Every day when we got back to the hotel after a long day out, it felt like returning home.

The room had a space to open suitcases and was clean. The hot spring water was good, and the sea breeze felt in the open-air bath was also pleasant. In addition to the menus that are common in business-type hotels, there are also seafood dishes. It's true that it's not as luxurious as the introductory photo on the homepage, but I felt that it was the best possible hospitality. The front desk and dining staff seemed to be working with a minimum number of people, but they were polite and kind when I went to the front desk to ask questions, as well as check-in and check-out procedures. Shiretoko itself is expensive, so I think I was able to stay here at a relatively reasonable price. If you think of it as one of the sightseeing bases rather than enjoying it at the hotel, it is a very convenient location near the roadside station, sightseeing boat office, convenience store, coin laundry, Oronko Rock, Godzilla Rock, etc. Shiretoko is a great place for both hot springs and sightseeing.

This is a typical ’boom & bust’ hotel, like the thousands of similar hotels you see all over Japan. It’s enormous, with lobbies, restaurands an common areas the size of airport hangars, huge rooms with separate tatami areas and massive onsens. All of which is in various stage of decay. This particular hotel is set back from the harbour, up on the hillside, presumably for tsunami reasons, which means you have to drive everywhere, to the boat tours in the harbour and the really nice little seafood shacks on the waterfront. The hotel offers, like all Japanese hotels, a myriad of ’settu’ options, all very confusing: breakfast, dinner and onsen package. Ditto with unlimited sake. Lunch and onsen and a spa treatment; don’t take any of these. The food is terrible by Japanese standards, and the gigantic restaurant is more like a East German Communist Party Headquarters canteen circa 1953 than a restaurant. You know whst I mean. Our room was huge, but with peeing wallpaper, slightly smelly damp wall-to-wall carpeting and (my pet hate) one of those pre-fab plastic bathrooms which has all the solidity of a bouncy castle. Our friends stayed at the Kitanokobushi Shiretoko Hotel, and I wish we had too. This is actually built this millennium and is right on the water. I highly recommend you stay there instead. As for me, I am thoroughly fed up with these depressing, smelly 1980’s concrete monsters.

One of our two favorite lodgings during a 3-week Hokkaido excursion. Traditional grand onsen resort you could visit and never leave for days. Starts and ends with great enthusiastic service! Well kept property, offers lounge with a view and complimentary snacks/beverages, nice shops, and wonderful top floor onsen that includes nice sauna. The best breakfast buffet we’ve ever visited. The small fishing village of Utoro hosts other hotels and other onsen resorts, but Kitakobushi is the only resort right on the little harbor within easy walking distance of the rest of the village. Utoro acts as a great base to explore the Shiretoko peninsula. Our room, an O Club with Twin and Japanese, was spacious and looked over the harbor and out to sea. We wished we could stay longer.

It's along the national highway, but it's very nice to be surrounded by forests. The sauna was also water-cool, but the thick bath next to it was the best. Bogey was my first experience, but by the time I went around for two weeks, I was working in a corner while spinning. Even at this time of year, it was cold at night, and I enjoyed the fluctuation of cooking firewood and watching the cup. Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture was humid, but it was the best without the humidity of Shari Town. Thank you. I will visit you again.
