"We stayed in the Eccles hotel on 23 /24 th June for my 70th birthday and l have to say it was a memorable 2 days. The room 210 was fabulous ,view!!wowh,with a lovely card and treats left for us to enjoy AND A FAN AS WEATHER was so hot that week. Staff have to name Sinead,who l was in contact with re booking The amazing young staff on the evening meal shift.Lucy, Abbie and a few more didnt get their names on both evenings .lovely dessert with candle.l was treated like royalty overlooking the bay on outdoor setting, The hotel location was fab and will definitely be back again Management so lucky to have such lovely people working in your beautiful hotel as they would welcome anyone back Thank you so much for all your kindness and exceptional care in a beautiful hotel."

"Just back from a two night stay at Westlodge Hotel. The location is good, just outside of Bantry town but within walking distance (probably about 15 mins by foot). The hotel itself is situated on a slight hill, so you have a nice view of the surrounding countryside - mostly from the restaurant. It's very family friendly, staff had no issues with our little boy and a new made friend playing in the foyer area (which is also the bar / restaurant area). There's a pool that is a decent enough size, with adults whirlpool and even a kids whirlpool. On both occasions we went swimming, there was three lifeguards on duty - however, they are behind a desk outside the pool area (separated by glass with direct access to the pool). I was quite surprised that none of them was actually by the poolside at any point - even tho it was busy at times, with a lot of kids in the water, and there was a lifeguard tower/ chair by the poolside! The pool facilities are well maintained but the floors in the female changing area were quite dirty on both days. Hotel guests can get towels from the reception area. Our room was basic but also in good condition. No complaints about cleanliness, it was spot on. I was missing a coffee machine, tho - had only a kettle and little sachets of instant coffee. Also no slippers or night gowns. A lovely shower, with excellent pressure and a nice large shower head - really enjoyed that. Toiletries are in big containers, secured to the wall which gave it a bit of a cheap feel. There was only shower gel and conditioner, no shampoo..?! Our room looked out into an inner courtyard area, with a building that looked very neglected, with a partially broken window - so didn't have the nicest view. The TV was only a regular TV - not a smart TV, so only channels via satellite (but it kept losing connection). Our room had an interconnected door that was locked, but we could hear noises through that, so the room next to us must've been occupied - felt a little strange with regard to having privacy. The beds were large and very comfortable, except the pillows. The pillows were extremely puffy, almost as if they were balloons - and I'm a belly sleeper, so wasn't able to get comfortable with them at all. We had drinks and food on both evenings in the bar/foyer area. It's very cosy to sit and I like the way there's different little areas to chose from. Also, there was music on both evenings (not my style of music, but it was okay for a bit of atmosphere). Service was a little patchy on both evenings, although the waiting staff were trying their best - for drinks, you're best off going to the bar itself and getting them there. There was a blonde waitress who was excellent on all occasions, she worked behind the bar, was waitressing, and I also noticed her in the morning at the breakfast - she was the only one who struck me to be absolutely on the ball, fantastic service from this young lady! The food itself is okay - the chicken goujons are nice,"

Apparently, George Bernard Shaw once stayed here and highly praised it, even mentioning it in several of his works. The hotel grounds are expansive, with numerous walking paths and several complimentary spa and fitness facilities. Breakfast is a standard buffet with à la carte options."
