"I stumbled upon this hotel and my experience was absolutely fantastic. The overall decor is stylish and creates a wonderful ambiance. My room had a great view, was beautifully furnished, and paid attention to every detail. The cleanliness was impeccable; everything was spotless, and the bedding was soft and skin-friendly, making for an excellent night's sleep. The staff were friendly and provided thoughtful, attentive service, making me feel very welcome. The surrounding scenery and amenities are also great, perfect for a leisurely stroll. From the environment and service to the facilities, I couldn't find a single flaw. I had a truly pleasant stay and it's definitely on my re-book list!"

"I booked this hotel on Ctrip and it was excellent.
Pros: Newly opened, beautifully decorated, everything is brand new. The standard room I booked was spacious, clean, and bright. The bathroom had separate wet and dry areas, and the shower water was excellent. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel facilities were comprehensive, with its own underground parking lot and a good breakfast buffet.
Cons: The only downside is that it's a bit far from the city center, requiring navigation, making dining inconvenient; takeout is available.
Value for money: The room price is reasonable and the value is excellent.
Recommendation: This hotel is perfect for road trips.
You can even see the sunrise from your room in the morning."

"The hotel's location is excellent, within walking distance to the center of Datong Ancient City. Fahua Temple, Nine-Dragon Wall, and Huayan Temple are all nearby. Kailu Restaurant inside the ancient city is quite good, while Fengling Pavilion is just okay. The room is spacious and very clean, and they even provided 2 complimentary drinks in the fridge. There's an underground parking garage with free parking; just scan a code when you leave. I personally really enjoyed the lamb offal soup with rice noodles for breakfast, ordered it two days in a row. The fruit was fresh and tasty. If you like street food, there's plenty right across the road, and it seemed quite popular. Overall, highly recommended."

The room space is super large, and the living is not depressed at all! The quality of the bed is absolutely perfect, and I don't want to get up when I lie down. The quality of sleep is directly rising. The shower room is spacious and intimate, and the bath will never get cold water again.
The coolest thing is the free minibar, coffee, tea, nuts, drinks are all available, and there is a sense of happiness while eating in the room. The toiletries are all high-end lines, even the hair dryer is Dyson, and the hair care is not wrong.

TT.F. LaiWe had such a lovely stay in Datong! The hospitality here truly exceeded our expectations. The host was incredibly friendly, caring, and always ready to help with anything we needed. They even offered to do our laundry while we were out sightseeing, and folded everything neatly after it dried — such thoughtful service.
They also helped us order food and gave great recommendations, which made our trip so much easier. The room itself was surprisingly high tech, with a fun sound control system that made the stay even more enjoyable.
Although the room is on Level 2 with no lift, the host kindly carried our luggage up during check in and brought it down again when we checked out. Their helpfulness really made a difference.
Breakfast was lovely — nutritious, tasty, and just the right kind of start before heading out to explore.
Overall, we felt very welcomed and well taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Datong.

1118942****On this trip, after leaving my job, I've stayed in many places, but Datong was the most surprising city. It's full of historical sites, delicious food, and a vibrant, down-to-earth atmosphere. But what surprised me even more was the guesthouse I chose. I did extensive research and ultimately decided to stay within the ancient city, which turned out to be incredibly convenient for dining, lodging, and getting around. It was fantastic and perfectly suited me.
Initially, I considered guesthouses in the Southeast District, but they were all new, and their styles were quite similar and unremarkable, much like guesthouses in other cities. So, I picked one with unique traditional Chinese characteristics, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The breakfast was exactly to my liking – nutritious and light. The room was warm and cozy, and the toiletry kit was amazing, with thoughtful items inside. Even though it's been in the ancient city for ten years, the decor and renovation show no sign of age; it's incredibly well-maintained. The housekeeper mentioned they had just upgraded all the rooms before my arrival, haha! 😄
This guesthouse truly helped my restless mind calm down. It felt like staying in a museum. The aunties and housekeepers working here told me stories about every single object and corner, which deeply moved me. This is what a guesthouse should be – unpretentious and full of stories. The biggest surprise this time was having the chance to meet the owner, a wonderful lady. She was so nice, I initially thought she was just another staff member; she had absolutely no airs. More importantly, her experiences and background are incredible – she does extreme sports and has even climbed Mount Everest! Talking with her made me feel so comfortable and helped me let go of a lot of things. Thank you for the encounter; it was truly destiny. This was the most unexpected gain from my trip to Datong, and I will definitely go back if I get the chance! It felt just like home, with no sense of unfamiliarity whatsoever.

GGuest UserOverall, the hotel was good. First, the room location suggestion I made to the front desk was respected, which demonstrates excellent service. Second, the room was spacious and clean, which is acceptable unless you're a nitpicker. Summer is a busy season, so the cleaning lady is understandably busy. (The only minor issues I noticed upon arrival were a hair on the towel and a poorly wiped tabletop.) Third, the toilet was smart, there was a humidifier, and the TV had a mirrored screen (I don't recommend using the humidifier; the room was foggy the next day, almost as hazy as if the PM2.5 levels were excessive). The breakfast was generally decent. Overall, it was a good stay. I extended my stay for another night and would have if they hadn't sold out. However, the mattress was a little too soft, and the quilt felt a bit like paper, which wasn't very comfortable. I compared this to another hotel (Wanda Meihua) and found the mattress at the Wanda Meihua to be just the right firmness, the pillows comfortable, not too soft, and the quilt to be a bit more comfortable.

GGuest UserI've stayed at Jianguo Puyin hotels in several cities, and this one has the worst service. On my first night, I called to report that my toilet was clogged. They sent someone to unblock it, and I saw that person report it to engineering. The next day, I was out sightseeing, so I don't know if anyone came to fix it. By the third morning, the toilet was completely blocked, and water was leaking all over the bathroom floor. At this point, the front desk said they'd help me deal with it. I was literally about to check out! What's the point of fixing it then? So frustrating.

The hotel is located right in the heart of the ancient city, within walking distance of attractions like Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple, making it super convenient. The rooms have an antique charm, and when you open the window, you're greeted with the sight of traditional courtyards and intricate eaves.
What truly delighted me were the books in the room. Reading them before bed, the glory of Pingcheng during the Northern Wei Dynasty and the prosperity of the Liao and Jin secondary capitals came alive on the pages, adding a wonderful cultural depth to our journey.
The breakfast buffet was abundant, and the staff were warm and professional. Next time I'm in Datong, I'll definitely choose Ruifeng Tower again, to immerse myself in the unique charm of this ancient capital amidst its scholarly ambiance and historic beauty!

The service was excellent; the staff member, Xiong Fengqing, noticed medication on my table and proactively brought me chrysanthemum tea bags, along with extra bottled water. Breakfast was fantastic with a wide variety of high-quality options, including local Datong specialties. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Datong.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, checking us in quickly and even upgrading us to the best available room. To our surprise, we were greeted with a thoughtful welcome that included a fresh fruit basket, traditional Chinese soup, and complimentary tea.
The hotel offers an impressive breakfast selection, catering to both local and international tastes. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and the beds are incredibly comfortable—making it easy to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
This was my second time staying at the Great Palace Hotel, and once again, it exceeded expectations. Its location is ideal—right in the heart of the city, close to all major tourist attractions and just a few kilometers from the train station. Special thanks to Manager 崔经理, who was exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our stay. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Datong.
