"A very pleasant stay at the Pipa Old Inn. A very historical building, though the place is equipped with all necessary modern amenities save for an elevator. Fortunately the staff very helpful assisted us with lugging up our heavy luggage to our room on the 3rd floor. Very beautifully decorated and strategically located in the heart of Datong Ancient City. Very pleasant and helpful staff who helped us plan and arrange our trips around Datong though sadly, they weren't very proficient in English (but that's common in China). Free breakfast was included in our stay and there was a decent spread though the menu didn't change much over our stay there save for one or two vegetable dishes being rotated. Overall definitely worth a return trip and stay in Datong Ancient City."

The courtyard is equipped with rockery, glass roof, planting flowers and plants, feeding birds and fish, and the traditional courtyard makes you feel the charm of Datong ancient city. The rooms of Renyi are mainly Chinese-style duplex rooms. They are also equipped with high-end furnitures and tasteful decoration, it will bring you a comfortable stay.
"I had the most beautiful time in Datong, and a big part of that was due to my stay at Renyi Inn! First of all, the host is so kind and friendly. She always greets you with a smile. She even brought fresh watermelon for free everyday to my room :) more importantly, the whole hotel as well as the room we're super clean. The interior was so beautifully traditional. And it's only a 3min walk away from the major temple and all the main shopping streets. If you stay in Datong (which you definitely should, it has so much to offer), stay at Renyi Inn!"

"Excellent location being close to almost all of the major attractions in the datong ancient city as well as the famous knife cut noodle and shumai restaurants are just short walking distance away. It is also very close to the bus stop for Yungang grottoes.
The inn and room overall is very clean. I really enjoy the view from the room. The host is very lovely and can help with your travel advise and booking for transport hire to go to the hanging temple .
The only negative that I can pick on is the shower situation which was not designed very well. The water outward flow from the shower is not fast enough so you end up standing on a puddle of water. And the shower curtains not positioned well so there is always going to be water splashed outside of the shower zone. I only stayed for one night and I think It’s minor compared to what this accomodation offers. I wish I could stay for more nights as it is very nice"

"It was a very lovely hotel in the pedestrian area of Datong. The staff is very friendly en although they dont speak English, they have a translation device, making sure communication is possible. The hotel itself is pretty and so is the room. The one thing to consider when traveling as friends is that the bathroom isn't in a seperate area, although there is a screen to make sure you get some privacy. Not something negative, just something to consider."

"One side of the hotel is under construction, which does not affect rest, but it is a bit troublesome to enter and exit the hotel. There is a bar on the other side, which is a bit noisy at night. The hotel has 3 floors and no elevator. It is not a problem if you don't carry heavy boxes. There is a washing machine but no dryer. But Shanxi is relatively dry. After the washing machine spun dry, the room turned on the air conditioner for one night and the clothes were also dried. The bed and other things are quite comfortable. The hotel service is very good. Disposable toothbrushes and disposable bath towels are provided. The location is quite good, right in the middle of the ancient city, and it is convenient to go everywhere. Julongxiang is downstairs for breakfast."

"Overall it's OK, the location is very good, the decoration is OK, the service attitude of the lady at the front desk is very friendly, but the overall infrastructure has some problems and I hope it can be improved. One is that the curtain in the shower room cannot be closed because it is a screen. It can be seen clearly from the outside. I have to leave the bathroom door open these days and then make a self-made block before I dare to take a shower and go to the bathroom. The second is that the shower is not connected to the electricity. The problem is, I feel a slight electric current when I touch the shower switch. I have to unplug the power before I dare to take a shower."

"This is a folk-style hotel with terrible service. I booked it on Ctrip, but they said it had nothing to do with Ctrip. I said it doesn't matter to you, why can I book your hotel on Ctrip.com and even have to pay a deposit for the room card. I didn't want to refund the deposit in time when I checked out. I said you can leave and we will refund it to you later. They didn't follow Ctrip's agreement, they were the rules themselves, so it wasn't very cool. The room had no windows, but it was marked as having windows. The window was just a small hole on the side of the door. He said that was the window. But this small hole is open to the corridor, so it is the same whether it has this window or not. The smell in the room was so strong that we choked a lot. Then we asked them to change us to a house with windows, but the house with windows was smaller. They wouldn't give us the difference in price, so that was it. We came out to play, admit it, we can't do this. Just quarrel with them both vigorously. Forgot to take pictures"

The customizable breakfast was delicious, creating such a cozy atmosphere that we almost didn't want to leave at all. And the location? Absolutely unbeatable! Situated right in the heart of the ancient town, it's a peaceful oasis amidst the lively surroundings. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

The room is clean and the most important thing is that the service is so considerate. Our family I can drink a lot of water. The bottled water provided in the room can be given more every time, and there is also a refrigerator, which is very convenient. If you have any other needs, the customer service girl is very nice and even comes over in person. There is also a massage chair in the room. You can feel very relaxed after going out for fun. HHOWEIMINGThe biggest advantage of this store is of course its location, as it is located in the ancient city’s bell tower scenic area. When I arrived at the ancient city of Datong, I saw customers queuing up next to the hotel waiting for their number to be called at the internet-famous noodle shop ”Xijindao”, as well as the high-decibel noise of the surrounding shops using loudspeakers to attract customers. I suddenly felt a chill in my heart, and worried that I would not be able to sleep well in the next few days. Unexpectedly, after moving in, although the windows faced the downtown, the noise could not be heard as long as the windows were closed. The soundproof windows had a very high coefficient. I felt relieved immediately (in fact, the noise from the crowds died down after 9:30 pm). The sound insulation between the room next door is not very good, if the other party speaks loudly, we will hear it. Maybe the partitions in the old house can’t completely block it off!
The store's service attitude is super good and super friendly. Because I was traveling alone, I originally booked the smallest room online, but the hotel took the initiative to upgrade me to a larger room. I am very grateful. Moreover, the staff at the counter are very friendly to the customers, just like the older brothers and sisters next door, and their enthusiasm is not at all pretentious. The facilities in the room are also very clean and generous, with great attention to detail. There is also a washing machine available on the first floor. At this price, it is very good.
The downside for me is that there is no breakfast which is a little annoying. The restaurants nearby are all popular online restaurants in tourist attractions. The earliest one to open is ”Xijindao” at 7 o'clock, but it is not good to eat knife-cut noodles every day. It is difficult to have porridge, steamed buns, etc. for breakfast, as you have to walk to a residential area far away. Also, there is no larger supermarket nearby, so if you want to buy some fruit you have to go outside the scenic area.
But this is a good thing but it cannot be fully enjoyed. After all, being able to take a walk in front of the Huayan Temple every morning or take a look at the tranquility and leisure of the Grand Mosque next to it are all worth it.

LLaoshedeshijieThe location is OK, not too far from the South Station or the ancient city. It can be reached by bus 61 during the day. It is a bit troublesome at night. There is no bus connection. The nearest one is to get off at Wanda Plaza. It takes ten or twenty minutes to walk. If you don’t want to go, you can take a taxi. But it is more troublesome to take a taxi in the ancient city of Datong, the hotel room is relatively large, the shower water pressure is also large, and the service is very good.

GGuest UserI enjoyed my stay at this hotel. There is quite a bit to see around Lingqiu, and I should have stayed one extra night or two. Miss Liu (刘小姐), the front receptionist, was extremely helpful, even going all the way to accompany me to the bus stop to catch the bus heading to the Pingxingguan Battle site. Miss Liu also assisted with booking a cab for my visit to the Jueshan Pagoda. This famous Pagoda was founded before England was established by William the Conqueror (if I am wrong, then pardon me, but the Pagoda was built sometime before 1077 A.D. during the Northern Wei Dynasty). Miss Liu also directed me to the gravesite of King Wu of the Northern Wei Dynasty which is right in downtown Lingqiu.
There are numerous restaurants within walking distance of this hotel. One restaurant, next door to the right of the hotel, serves a wondering braised fish; the other a few doors away, sells delicious meat pies.
My room was professionally cleaned and serviced daily.
The hotel even allows me to doze off on the reception floor sofa to await my night train to Beijing.
I will return to this hotel if I return to Lingqiu.
