Centrally located, the building is magnificent and our room was a dream (we were also upgraded and our room was on two levels with a nice balcony and a really spacious living area).
Staff was really helpful and kind - they also hired a driver for us since we wanted to visit Hanging Monastery directly from the high speed station, before even checking in at the hotel: they took care perfectly of our necessity and the organisation was flawless.
I really recommend this place to anybody! you will not regret it!!!"

"We had a wonderful 2-night stay at this charming traditional inn in Datong. Our family booked 3 rooms, and all of them were beautifully decorated—combining traditional Chinese deco with modern comforts. Each room even had a personal AI assistant that greeted us every time we returned. Such a fun and thoughtful touch!
The lobby is absolutely stunning, with oriental décor, carved wooden furniture, and classic Chinese ornaments that really make you feel immersed in local culture. There’s even a small koi pond that adds to the serene vibe.
The only minor issue was the bathroom—the toilet flush wasn’t very strong, and some water splashed from the shower area. But it didn’t affect our overall experience.
The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming. We’d happily stay here again if we visit Datong in the future!"

"It was a very lovely hotel in the pedestrian area of Datong. The staff is very friendly en although they dont speak English, they have a translation device, making sure communication is possible. The hotel itself is pretty and so is the room. The one thing to consider when traveling as friends is that the bathroom isn't in a seperate area, although there is a screen to make sure you get some privacy. Not something negative, just something to consider."

The shower was fairly good and they have a japanese toilet.

"One side of the hotel is under construction, which does not affect rest, but it is a bit troublesome to enter and exit the hotel. There is a bar on the other side, which is a bit noisy at night. The hotel has 3 floors and no elevator. It is not a problem if you don't carry heavy boxes. There is a washing machine but no dryer. But Shanxi is relatively dry. After the washing machine spun dry, the room turned on the air conditioner for one night and the clothes were also dried. The bed and other things are quite comfortable. The hotel service is very good. Disposable toothbrushes and disposable bath towels are provided. The location is quite good, right in the middle of the ancient city, and it is convenient to go everywhere. Julongxiang is downstairs for breakfast."

Datong is a famous historical and cultural city in China. It is one of the nine ancient capitals and its history began as early as 2400 years ago. It was the capital of Northern Wei and the Western Capital of the Liao and Jin dynasty as well as a major city in many other dynasties.
Around the main courtyard are 18 rooms with different features. Each room has its own unique color, lighting, and decorations. These include paintings, woodcarvings, stone-carvings, brick-carvings and other antique items reflect the historical charm of traditional Chinese culture. Moreover, the hotel owners express their welcome and blessing to all the guests by carefully naming each guest room with a special name.
The reception hall is magnificent with paintings covering the ceiling. Behind it is a wall decorated with a Chinese gatehouse. The recreation area is separated by an antique woodcarving.
"Located right in the heart of the ancient city, this hotel is a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle. The room was spotless and exceptionally well-appointed, featuring premium toiletries, an electric toothbrush, a Dyson hairdryer, and even a smart toilet. The entire courtyard is incredibly charming, offering a true taste of traditional Shanxi architecture. Breakfast in the courtyard was a highlight, and even when it poured rain on the second morning, we enjoyed a unique experience having breakfast under an umbrella. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and approachable; we could even communicate with them easily via WeChat.
My only minor point of feedback is that the duvet felt a bit too thick for summer; we were still quite warm and sweating even with the air conditioning on. However, this might just be a personal preference. Overall, this place is absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Datong who's looking for a unique and memorable accommodation experience."

"Overall it's OK, the location is very good, the decoration is OK, the service attitude of the lady at the front desk is very friendly, but the overall infrastructure has some problems and I hope it can be improved. One is that the curtain in the shower room cannot be closed because it is a screen. It can be seen clearly from the outside. I have to leave the bathroom door open these days and then make a self-made block before I dare to take a shower and go to the bathroom. The second is that the shower is not connected to the electricity. The problem is, I feel a slight electric current when I touch the shower switch. I have to unplug the power before I dare to take a shower."

Compared with the higher-priced hotels I have stayed in before, this inn has shown a better standard in many aspects. When placing the order, I noticed that it was marked as a two-diamond hotel, but after the actual stay, I found that its hardware quality, service quality and overall experience are actually better than many higher-star hotels, which is excellent value for money. The service is particularly moving. Before arriving at the inn, the front desk staff had already taken the initiative to turn on the air conditioning in the room for me. In addition, she also patiently and meticulously introduced me to the surrounding dining situation, which greatly facilitated my travel arrangements. The location of the inn is very convenient, close to the central area of the Chinese restaurant that Datong must go to check in, and the furthest distance can be reached in five minutes. At the same time, the inn is within walking distance of famous attractions such as Kowloon Wall and Shanhua Temple, especially suitable for winter travel you don’t have to get up early in order to hurry, you can easily arrange your itinerary. HHOWEIMINGThe biggest advantage of this store is of course its location, as it is located in the ancient city’s bell tower scenic area. When I arrived at the ancient city of Datong, I saw customers queuing up next to the hotel waiting for their number to be called at the internet-famous noodle shop ”Xijindao”, as well as the high-decibel noise of the surrounding shops using loudspeakers to attract customers. I suddenly felt a chill in my heart, and worried that I would not be able to sleep well in the next few days. Unexpectedly, after moving in, although the windows faced the downtown, the noise could not be heard as long as the windows were closed. The soundproof windows had a very high coefficient. I felt relieved immediately (in fact, the noise from the crowds died down after 9:30 pm). The sound insulation between the room next door is not very good, if the other party speaks loudly, we will hear it. Maybe the partitions in the old house can’t completely block it off!
The store's service attitude is super good and super friendly. Because I was traveling alone, I originally booked the smallest room online, but the hotel took the initiative to upgrade me to a larger room. I am very grateful. Moreover, the staff at the counter are very friendly to the customers, just like the older brothers and sisters next door, and their enthusiasm is not at all pretentious. The facilities in the room are also very clean and generous, with great attention to detail. There is also a washing machine available on the first floor. At this price, it is very good.
The downside for me is that there is no breakfast which is a little annoying. The restaurants nearby are all popular online restaurants in tourist attractions. The earliest one to open is ”Xijindao” at 7 o'clock, but it is not good to eat knife-cut noodles every day. It is difficult to have porridge, steamed buns, etc. for breakfast, as you have to walk to a residential area far away. Also, there is no larger supermarket nearby, so if you want to buy some fruit you have to go outside the scenic area.
But this is a good thing but it cannot be fully enjoyed. After all, being able to take a walk in front of the Huayan Temple every morning or take a look at the tranquility and leisure of the Grand Mosque next to it are all worth it.

The boss was very considerate in providing disposable towels and bath towels, and there was plenty of hot water. Parking is also convenient, not far from the inn, only a five-minute walk away.
