"Stepping into Datong Ancient City in the afternoon, the first pleasant surprise was stumbling upon Renyi Inn. The inn's antique courtyard, adorned with carved beams and painted rafters, and warm red lanterns, instantly brought a sense of calm. The family who runs the inn is incredibly humble and kind, their conversations warm and thoughtful, making you feel right at home. What's even more admirable is their exceptional care for animals; the inn is like a mini-zoo. They treat every little creature with gentleness and patience, which in turn fills the entire courtyard with life and spirit. Upon entering, a majestic grey parrot, both poised and lively, greeted me from the front desk – I'd never seen such a large pet parrot before! Two smaller parrots chirped happily nearby, completely unafraid of strangers, lively and adorable. Outside my room was a small courtyard with two tea tables. After a 'special forces'-style day of temple hopping, when I was tired to the point of tears, sitting there enjoying a cup of tea was incredibly relaxing. In the adjacent fish pond, a dozen or so vibrant koi, each weighing at least two to three pounds, swam gracefully, their bodies stretching elegantly. Next to the pond, a large and a small tortoise slowly ambled, quiet and therapeutic. In a corner cage, a tiny grey squirrel darted around, agile and playful. As dusk fell, watching the lights reflect on the pond and listening to the soft sounds of the small animals, the weariness of travel seemed to melt away in this gentle atmosphere, leaving my heart filled with peace and healing. I thought this wonderful experience was complete, but to my surprise, a new delight awaited me the next morning – two peacocks, 'Wenqing' (blue and white) and 'Xiaofeng' (emerald green), strolled leisurely in the courtyard with their magnificent tails fanned out – yes, they even have names! The eye-spots on their tail feathers shimmered, as if they were wearing the entire starry sky, beautiful like something straight out of an ancient painting. For a moment, I couldn't tell if I was in an inn or a secret wonderland. Renyi Inn is far more than just a place to stay; it's a hidden gem within the ancient city. The harmonious coexistence of people and animals creates a warm and healing atmosphere, adding countless gentle and delightful moments to this journey."

"It was a very lovely hotel in the pedestrian area of Datong. The staff is very friendly en although they dont speak English, they have a translation device, making sure communication is possible. The hotel itself is pretty and so is the room. The one thing to consider when traveling as friends is that the bathroom isn't in a seperate area, although there is a screen to make sure you get some privacy. Not something negative, just something to consider."

"Very nice stay directly in the heart of the old City. You can easily take Bus 38 in front of the hotel to the Yugang Grottoes. The hotel itselfbis very roomy with big bathrooms and a inner courtyard. Everything was very clean and had a nice charme. The bed is very big but a little on the hard side. The shower was fairly good and they have a japanese toilet. The staff was very friendly and helpful."

"The pros and cons are both very prominent. Pros: It's located in the center of the old town, which is a good location. The bed is big enough to sleep two adults and two kids. Cons: The room window is so small that it's practically non-existent. The only big thing in the room is the bed; everything else is small. The towels and bath towels provided are disposable, which is not a great experience. The cleanliness is average; there was a lot of dust in the room, and it wasn't cleaned promptly. Although it's only a three-story building, there's no elevator, so carrying luggage was really tiring."

"We had a great stay for 4 nights at this homestay. Our room was very comfortable and offered enough space. The bed was quite had but we had a good sleep every night. The breakfast was only Chinese style but different every day. Coffee could be taken from their coffee corner. The staff was very friendly and helpful."

"I've wanted to stay here for a long time, and this family trip finally made that dream come true. The check-in experience was excellent, and the facilities showed incredible attention to detail. The complimentary toiletries pack even included electric toothbrushes and Gillette razors, and all the snacks provided were from Sam's Club. Breakfast was exceptional – an à la carte style where they'd prepare whatever you ordered. Everything tasted fantastic, and there were plenty of choices. Enjoying delicious pastries in the courtyard under the sun was a truly wonderful experience! In the evening, friends came over, and we sat on the courtyard sofa, chatted, drank tea, and watched the clouds in the night sky. We even caught a drone show from Dai Wang Mansion, which was truly delightful! We also toured the owner's private museum and wine cellar. It certainly lives up to its reputation as a courtyard built with 200 million yuan; the main gate in the middle is 200 years old. Every detail exudes taste and grandeur! The service was excellent too. Although there weren't many staff members, they were very responsive. When my shoes got wet in the heavy rain, they even brought a hairdryer to dry them for me – I was truly grateful! In short, the value for money at this price is unbeatable! Five-star recommendation! 👍👍👍👍👍 Overall, a fantastic stay, but I do have a few suggestions to offer: 1. Only the door could be opened for ventilation in the room; the windows didn't open. It would be great if there was a way to allow for cross-ventilation. 2. The hotel doesn't provide parking vouchers. While overnight parking was only 20 yuan, offering vouchers would enhance the guest experience. 3. Perhaps due to concerns about some guests occupying a room with too many people, I was repeatedly asked during check-in how many individuals were staying in our room, which I found a bit off-putting."

"Excellent value for money, spotlessly clean, and the staff provide great service. Breakfast is included, and the location offers very convenient transportation for exploring. In the evenings, it's lovely to stroll out to the square and enjoy the cool air. I wholeheartedly recommend Wutongge Hotel to anyone planning a trip to Datong."

"The inn is located next to the ancient city. It's very close. It's very convenient for a walk or a bike ride. The room is equipped with smart facilities and is very clean. The massage chair is really well received. I really need it after I went out for a walk during the day. There is also a projector, which is very comfortable to watch movies while having a massage. The lady in the store is very enthusiastic and super nice."

"Located on Gulou East Street, very lively, the store's service attitude is excellent, and they are warmly greeted when they come out. However, during the New Year, traffic control basically began at noon. I don't know what it is usually like. Anyway, if you arrive at noon or arrive in the afternoon these days, any car can't get in, and you can walk to the inn with a box. So it is not recommended to find a hotel in the scenic spot."
