"The hotel was new and the rooms were clean, but the service was terrible! We arrived at the front desk at night, and there were three or four staff members standing there laughing and joking. After I showed my ID, they told me that someone had already checked me in?! It turned out that after a long discussion, they realized it was because a man with the same name as me had booked the same room type, and they gave him the room I had booked in advance (I had noted that I didn't want the last room and wanted it away from the elevator)?! Such a big hotel?! Don't they even check the information when registering guests? The phone numbers are different, and the genders are different too?! While I was standing at the front desk late at night waiting for them to resolve the issue, the receptionist kept yelling about what to do about the man's booking?! Where was I supposed to stand?! She didn't even apologize, and she was yelling at me about the wrong booking!! Am I supposed to fix her problem? Is this how you train your staff for such a big hotel? And this is supposed to be number one on the luxury list? Is this the level of service you're providing? Don't tell me it's because there are too many guests during the Chinese New Year. If you're so busy during the holidays, how could you make a mistake checking guest information? After making me stand for at least ten minutes, they finally gave me a room. They even gave me a last-minute room near the elevator! When I saw this, I called the front desk, and they said, ”Oh, all the rooms you booked are last-minute rooms?” Why didn't you write on the booking page that all City View Suites are last-minute rooms? It felt like the staff didn't know what they were doing; the service was completely disproportionate to the hotel's quality! Oh, and by the way, the laundry room was closed during the New Year period, and they didn't mention this at all when I messaged customer service during booking. 😃 The score is for cleanliness and hotel infrastructure; service is zero."

"Overall, it was very good, as expected. I feel it's necessary to write a positive review to encourage the hotel to maintain its current service standards! This trip was specifically planned during the off-season for my elders to relax and for my own personal rest. On the first night, we found the room too stuffy. After reporting it, they immediately upgraded and changed our room (a big thank you to the lovely lady at the front desk; later, on the third day, she also explained the three ways to close a window we had an issue with. I don't know her name, but I was very satisfied with her service these past few days 👍🏻). She was a woman with her hair up, wearing a dark blue suit. Facilities: The washbasins and toilets are Duravit, and having two washbasins is a big plus! The room has a sofa, a walk-in closet, and a matching table and chairs. A suggestion: the lighting color in the walk-in closet isn't very good, it's too yellow. Cleanliness: I specifically checked some areas, and there was no dust. It was clean and tidy. Environment: Superb, exactly as seen in previous reviews. A well-deserved luxury hotel. Service: (Only for off-peak experience) From the front desk to the staff at the buffet breakfast, everyone I interacted with was excellent. The breakfast selection was also quite rich. If you're visiting during the off-peak season, I would recommend this hotel. Finally, this hotel didn't harass me for a positive review. I just remembered that the Huazhu Hotel incident happened right behind this one, so I decided to write this."

His bilingual skills are impressive, effortlessly switching between English and Cantonese. He immediately stepped in to patiently assist a few foreign guests who needed help. This kind of 'attention to detail' service really resonated with me! 🌄 When we were watching the sunrise over the city wall in the morning, the front desk小姐姐 (young lady) quietly filled our thermos with ginger tea. She said, ”The morning wind is strong, have something warm.” This was the first time I encountered turndown service where they actually pulled the duvet up from the bottom. Even at the St. Regis Macau, I always had to struggle to pull the duvet up myself. These unexpected moments of warmth made the entire trip feel incredibly special! 💡 Little tips: The hotel offers a guided tour service for the art gallery daily. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby offer stunning views of the sunset. It's advisable to bring a jacket as there's a significant temperature difference between morning and evening. I've already decided to bring my family back for a second visit! Such a service-oriented team deserves recognition 👀"

"Ever since my first stay, whenever I visit Datong, I always choose Yungang Jianguo Hotel! Each visit gets better; everything is just perfect! The room rates during non-holiday periods are incredibly affordable, offering fantastic value for money. If you're driving, there's absolutely no need to worry – parking is super convenient. The hotel has a spacious, free parking lot with plenty of spaces both above ground and underground. The security guards are very responsible, helping with luggage and guiding cars in and out. Parking is totally stress-free and secure. The breakfast buffet is outstanding! The variety is so rich it's hard to choose, and it's all local specialties. The lamb offal soup, sliced noodles, and fried pancakes are all delicious. Every morning is a satisfying feast. The aunties at the buffet restaurant provide such attentive service – they're warm, meticulous, clear plates, and replenish food promptly. They are always ready to help, making you feel incredibly welcome. Although the hotel facilities show their age and aren't brand new, they are exceptionally well-maintained, clean, and tidy. There's a chic, retro, and sophisticated old-luxury feel that gives the place a unique charm. They even thoughtfully provide complimentary bath tickets upon check-in, which are incredibly relaxing and wash away the day's fatigue. With a great location, easy parking, warm service, comfortable stays, delicious food, and reasonable prices, this is my top choice whether I'm on a business trip or vacation. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Datong!"

"The hotel facilities were good and breakfast was decent, but the check-in experience was terrible. When I turned on the faucet after checking in that night, the water was yellow and cloudy the entire time. I followed the front desk's advice to let the water run for nearly an hour, but there was no improvement. After contacting them again, housekeeping came to check and suggested a room change. I asked to see the water quality in another room first, and was told it was 'a bit better'. It was already 11 PM and I didn't want the hassle, so I agreed to deal with it the next day. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of follow-up from the hotel, no apology, and no compensation or reassurance. They basically left the problem for the guest to just put up with. The next day, no one bothered to ask about it, as if nothing had happened. The service attitude was incredibly perfunctory and completely lacked any sense of customer service."

"First and foremost, a heartfelt thank you to Ms. Wu from housekeeping. As I was visiting Datong, I checked in and immediately headed out due to a tight schedule. I forgot to buy water, so I took the complimentary bottled water from the room. To my surprise, when I returned that evening, not only was the water replenished, but two extra bottles were added. This level of meticulous service is something I've never experienced in other hotels. Given how dry the local weather is, the daily complimentary pear soup and fresh fruit were also very thoughtful. Furthermore, perhaps because I didn't visit during a public holiday, my room was upgraded, which significantly enhanced my stay. This deserves praise! Of course, with such excellent service, some minor issues tend to stand out. There were indeed quite a lot of people at breakfast every day, and some popular dishes were not replenished promptly. Sometimes I'd walk around twice and still find them missing. For items like bread, which require preparation and have a longer production cycle, I can understand a delay in replenishment. However, for salad vegetables to be frequently unavailable is a bit hard to excuse. I encountered this situation several times during my stay and hope it can be improved. "The hotel is in a great location. There are lots of local restaurants downstairs, and there's also the Wanda Mall. I chose this hotel because I stayed there when it first opened. The front desk staff was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I even got an upgrade. However, the room was much less clean this time. There was hair all over the bathroom bar, and the large shower head didn't work. This is something a five-star hotel shouldn't have. I hope you'll pay attention to this."

"We had a very pleasant stay in this hotel. The staff members were very helpful and attentive. Breakfast was also very good! Our room was comfy and spacious, the only problem we had with it was that it felt too hot for us even with the aircon/heating off and right before we left we could feel some bad smell coming from the pipes. We didn't report this as we were leaving but we're sure the hotel would have helped and sorted this for us (they offered changing our room when we said it was too hot for us, for example). The location of the hotel was very useful to explore the ancient city and the hotel helped us book a private car to see the grottoes and hanging temple - great experience! We'd consider staying here again if/when we visit Dating again. :)"

The hotel is built in the style of a traditional northern courtyard house, with simple architecture and modern facilities, maintaining excellent privacy while being very aesthetically pleasing. On a nice day, it's very pleasant to sit in the courtyard. Even more valuable is the attentive service. The butler service goes beyond routine Q&A; every staff member at the hotel greets guests with a warm smile. The service details are also reflected in the thoughtful offering of hot tea and snacks upon arrival each day, and a souvenir upon departure, meeting all sorts of small needs while traveling. In addition, the hotel's pick-up and drop-off service is very high-end, with Mercedes-Benz or Alphard vans giving guests a sense of luxury.
