"First the Pros: The reception personnel were polite, courteous and helpful, as were the kitchen & serving staff. The room & bathroom were spotless. The bed was comfortable. Appreciated having the luxury of a bathtub, not just a shower. Nice having a supermarket & fast food restaurant next door. The Cons: The room was large but practically unfurnished. No dresser, no bedside tables, no drawers, 5 hangers instead of a proper closet, no wall decorations to brighten the room, nowhere to put luggage other than on the floor! Nothing but wasted space! The tiny excuse for a bedside table is ridiculous. If one reads, wears glasses, wants water during the night, a place for a smartphone, a book, etc, there's no room to set them. To go through ones luggage one has to lift it onto the bed after lifting it from the floor or get on ones hands & knees on the floor to find items......fine if you're young, not so fine if not! Pay for wifi?? This day & age? Mom & Pop motels don't charge. Come on Travel Lodge! Small flat-screen TV. We waited for 35 minutes one evening about 6:30 for an appetizer. The server apologized for the lengthy wait but offered no explanation. The following evening we ordered the same thing and it arrived in 6 minutes. It would seem the parent company is saving expenses by avoiding to adequately furnish the individual rooms but still charging a hefty fee for overnight stays. If you're looking for underfurnished, sterile, unattractive accommodation similar to dormitories, then this is the place for you."

"As regular visitors we always enjoy Slaley Hall. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, from a warm welcome at Reception to check out. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. The facilities are good, as are the food and rooms. The location is good, perhaps the only downside is a lack of signage from the road for new visitors."

"I stayed for one night this week for business. Hotel is ideally located and was clean. It had everything I needed. Only feedback for staff is to be mindful of solo female travellers and their comfort. When I ordered dinner at the bar the staff announced "you're room 5, yeah!" Very loudly when there were men at the bar right next to me. It was very clear I was there alone. I know the chances of anything bad happening are low however please take in to account how nervous women might be staying on their own away from home."

"Bed very low and hard bedhead curved so pillows fall down behind. Breakfast advertised 17.50 when went they charged you for individual items which turns out very expensive. Parking only 7 cars free in underground carpark. Bar has awful draught beer if you like beer with lemon flavour your ok. Asked for sofa bed for other guest when arrived not set up or bedding. After paying alot of money for 1 night stay thought ot wd be good. Sorry but i would not book this hotel again"

"We had a wonderful birthday weekend at Langley Castle. The grounds are stunning, and the location is perfect for exploring the Northumberland countryside and coast. We stayed in the Castle Lodge, which was excellent. Huge thanks to the staff, especially Aidan and Ellie, for being so welcoming and professional. Dinner at the Josephine Restaurant was a highlight—the birthday surprise (chocolate truffles!) for my partner was a very thoughtful touch. After a superb cooked-to-order breakfast and a guided tour the next day, we left feeling very impressed. Highly recommended!"
