"Make sure to book a room facing the ski slopes! I stayed in room 01. This was the most satisfying hotel I stayed at in Hokkaido. The value for money, compared to the one next door, was absolutely top-notch. I stayed for three nights, and the front desk had Chinese staff, so communication was seamless. The old man working at the supermarket was also very helpful. Hope they don't raise the prices, haha!"

"An absolutely amazing experience from start to finish, I couldn't find a single thing to complain about. We could park right at the hotel entrance, and someone was there to help with our luggage. Both check-in and check-out were handled effortlessly without even needing to go to the front desk. The food was also fantastic, dinner was especially worth it. All in all, if you're driving, this place is incredibly convenient. Highly, highly recommend! The private onsen experience was also wonderful, a perfect way to end our trip!"

"It’s a beautiful hotel, room is excellent. The grounds around the hotel is very pleasant, making strolling around the area refreshing. It’s was during the off peak period, so it’s not crowded, though several businesses were not opened. It’s a good time to enjoy some less energetic exercises like walking around and enjoying the scenery and fresh air."

Rusutsu Resort Hotel & Convention is located in the Golden Tourist Circle of Hokkaido's must-visit tourist attractions, Mt. Yotei and the Lake Toya National Park. As one of the largest independently operated ski resorts in Hokkaido, it features 3 mountains, 18 gondola/lift lines, and 37 ski trails, offering you the chance to enjoy the world-renowned natural powder snow. In the prestigious “World Ski Awards 2024,” the resort was honored with the title of “Japan's Best Ski Resort 2024.” This marks the fifth time Rusutsu Resort has received this award, following its wins in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021, making it the first ski resort in Japan to achieve this honor five times. In summer, the resort offers a refreshing and pleasant climate, featuring a popular local amusement park and four golf courses. Overlooking Mt. Yotei, known as “Little Mt. Fuji in Hokkaido”, you can enjoy the serene natural landscapes of the northern region. It must be perfect choice for family trips, friend and couple getaways, educational travel, and corporate team-building events.

"Rusutsu Resort is an excellent choice for families, especially those traveling with children. The resort offers a wide variety of facilities all in one place, making it very convenient and stress-free for family trips. There are indoor and outdoor activities, play areas, ski facilities, and entertainment options suitable for both kids and adults, so everyone can find something to enjoy. One of the biggest advantages is the location. The resort is very close to a convenience store, which is extremely helpful for families — whether you need snacks, drinks, daily essentials, or quick meals, everything is within easy reach. There are also many restaurants inside the resort, offering different types of cuisine. However, it’s important to note that several popular restaurants require advance reservations, especially during peak seasons. Planning ahead is highly recommended to avoid long waits or limited dining options. Overall, Rusutsu Resort is very family-friendly, well-organized, and convenient. With its wide range of facilities, nearby convenience store, and diverse dining choices, it’s a great destination for a comfortable and enjoyable family holiday — just remember to book restaurants early."

Additional features at this hotel include complimentary wireless internet access, gift shops/newsstands, and a ballroom. Satisfy your appetite at the hotel's coffee shop/cafe. Conveniences include safes and desks, and housekeeping is provided daily.

"This hotel is a hidden gem where I stayed for three nights. It has four floors, with the entrance and front desk located on the second floor, accessible by an elevator. On the first floor, there are separate male and female onsens (hot springs), each with three indoor baths and one open-air bath. The changing rooms are equipped with washing machines and dryers (laundry costs a very affordable 100 yen per wash, and you can buy a laundry pod at the front desk for 100 yen). The hotel offers a set breakfast (included with the stay) and dinner (can be added on arrival for 3300 yen per person), both served individually rather than buffet-style. Breakfast times are 7:00, 7:30, or 8:00 AM, while dinner is at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, or 7:30 PM. There's a friendly Chinese-speaking staff member from Beijing at the front desk. The guest rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms, offering views of Lake Toya and a popular photo spot. Each room includes a safe, kettle, cold drinking water, sterilized cups, a writing desk, a table lamp, a massage device, and lotion, among other amenities. The hotel also features a coffee bar and a souvenir shop near the front desk. Each room has a toilet and a sink, but no shower. The only downsides are that the entrance door to the room and the bathroom door are quite low, probably around 1.8 meters, and there's no drying room for ski gear (though with permission, you can place your ski equipment on the floor in the front desk area). The air conditioning has three powerful settings, so it never felt cold. The windows are double-paned."

"This hotel is right next to Lake Toya. We booked an East-facing Japanese-style room and were very happy with it. The window offered a direct view of Mount Yotei, and the scenery was absolutely stunning on clear days. The tatami mats were super comfortable for sleeping, and staff came by daily to make up the futons. While the hotel's onsen (hot spring) doesn't have many pools, the rooftop bath boasts incredible views, and the ground-floor outdoor bath offers a beautiful snowy landscape. The men's and women's baths rotate daily at specific times. We also appreciated that someone came with a testing device every day to check the water quality, which was very reassuring. During our stay, we happened to catch the winter fireworks festival. Watching the fireworks from the lakeside was just as amazing as watching them from our room! They went off promptly at 8:30 PM for 10 minutes every night for three consecutive days – it was incredibly romantic. The hotel breakfast was very generous. The onigiri (rice balls), chazuke (rice with tea), milk, and salmon were daily must-haves. The restaurant also had a spectacular view. Getting around from the hotel was very convenient. Turn right out the door and a 2-minute walk takes you to the bus stop. You can book tickets online, and the bus connects to various attractions. We used this bus to go to the ranch, the observation deck to see Mount Yotei, Snow World for snowmobiling, and Rusutsu for skiing. Just be prepared for potential bus delays."

"This resort is located on the mountaintop and offers many snow activities. We had a great time playing in the snow in the afternoon! As someone from the south, I've never seen so much thick snow before! The hotel facilities are quite comprehensive, though the food options are limited. We tried the Michelin-starred Teppanyaki, and the service was excellent, and the taste was pretty good! However, the Japanese breakfast was just average."

"The location is fantastic, right on Lake Toya. Our room had direct lake views, which was lovely. It's a shame it was quite cloudy for both days of our stay, so we missed out on the spectacular view of Mount Yotei – a bit of a pity. The hotel's buffet dinner was very reasonably priced with a good variety of options. The onsen (hot spring) also offered beautiful views. Plus, you can watch the fireworks directly from the lakeside."

"Overall a great stay. The biggest advantage is the convenience. It is truly ski in ski out, which makes it very easy to access the slopes without needing to travel anywhere. The slopes here are also very beginner friendly. They are not too steep, which makes it a comfortable place to learn or practice skiing. I also took a 2 hour private ski lesson arranged through the hotel. Our instructor, Yuki, was very friendly, patient, and encouraging, which made the learning experience enjoyable. The only downside was the food. Both the dinner and breakfast buffet had quite limited variety, and the taste was just average. Considering the price we paid, the food did not feel very worth it. Overall, it is still a good place to stay if you want convenience and easy access to beginner friendly slopes. Just do not expect too much from the buffet."

"The room was spacious and didn't feel cramped at all. Having a private onsen right outside the door with lake views was amazing. The public bath was particularly great; all the toiletries were Pola, and it was very clean. The hotel wasn't crowded, so it was very quiet. The only downside was the dinner from the two-meals-per-night plan. It was really greasy and not very tasty. You could tell the chef put a lot of effort into trying to make common ingredients delicious, but there were far too many dairy flavors, which made it quite sickly. The staff were all very friendly and polite, helping with sending our ski gear and carrying luggage. Definitely a good choice for a vacation."

NN YipThis is a family trip for two adults and two kids. And we stayed in the hotel for 7 nights, bfast and dinner included. It's apparent in the booking that we will have kids in the stay, and yet either Trip.com/hotel charged us meals for 4 adults for the entire trip. We ended up overpaying A LOT and wasting A LOT of food because the kids couldn't finish the set meal. Yet the hotel refused to adjust / refund. This was a serious mistake made by Trip.com / hotel. The hotel provided shuttle bus to the ski resort. Good that there was early shuttle bus around 815am BUT the return shuttle was way too early (4pm) for any serious skiers. The hotel should offer more options. There was no gym in the hotel and difficult to do some proper full-body exercise. Onsen set up was nice and clean and tidy. The public onsen wasn't used much so it ended up a big private onsen for us. We like the traditional Japanese cusine but very disappointed that the chef provided limited changes on the menu during our 7 nights of stay. We spent roughly same number of nights elsewhere in Niseko and the design of their menu was way better. Staff in general was very helpful and friendly and some of them spoke English and Chinese. The hotel was short of staff IMO. I could see them running around in the hotel. The ski equipment room could be equipped with better facility to dry ski boots and gloves. Shuttle bus was only offered to Niseko but not Kutchan station which was in fact not too far away anyway. The room was clean and well maintained. The location of the hotel was great too. It's 10mins from the Niseko station and 5mins from annupuri ski run.

TTaidijunThis was my second stay at the Park Hyatt Niseko, and it seems the front desk staff was new this time. They made several mistakes, like sending us to the wrong building and getting our room direction wrong – quite unprofessional. On our third day, breakfast at the Chinese restaurant was poorly arranged; we were seated right next to the cart for collecting dirty dishes, which completely ruined our appetite. Otherwise, it was as excellent as ever! The housekeeping ladies were exceptionally good. After a day out, we returned to find our beloved teddy bear neatly placed on the pillow with a blanket over it – so thoughtful! And the teppanyaki was delicious as always!

AAnonymous UserI was especially impressed by the rooftop onsen - it felt incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The buffet breakfast and dinner were amazing as well, with such a wide variety of food and drinks that we truly felt spoilt for choice. The view from our room was spectacular, and we were even fortunate enough to catch the daily fireworks from our room - it was my first time experiencing that, which made the stay feel even more special. Honestly, there was no downside to the experience at all.

WWynn628Stayed at Hilton Niseko Village recently and overall had a pleasant experience. The biggest highlight is definitely the ski-in ski-out access, which makes it extremely convenient for anyone coming to Niseko for snowboarding or skiing. You can go straight from the hotel to the slopes without needing transportation. The location is great, surrounded by beautiful snow scenery and close to the ski lifts. The service was also good — staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay. However, a couple of things could be improved. The hotel does not provide a microwave, which can be inconvenient if you want to heat up takeaway food. Also, there is no coin laundry service, which might be troublesome for longer stays, especially after days of snow activities. Overall, it’s a comfortable stay with a great location for skiing, but adding basic facilities like a microwave and coin laundry would make the experience even better.

GGuest UserThe overall experience at this hotel was quite good. The room was very clean, and the layout was well-designed. I especially appreciated the thoughtful design of the bedroom, which was enclosed with a door to ensure a very quiet environment, greatly improving the quality of sleep. The only downside was that the room had only air conditioning and no water heating, which made the air extremely dry. Even with a humidifier turned on, it didn’t help much, and my throat still felt uncomfortable at night. If they could improve the heating system or provide better humidification equipment, the experience would be even better!

GGuest UserIf you are looking for a truly authentic ryokan experience, Spa Shiosai is an absolute gem. From the moment you arrive, the level of care and attention to detail is world-class. The Highlights Exceptional Dining: Each meal was a work of art, prepared with incredible precision and seasonal flair. I especially appreciated the front desk’s proactive service—they consistently checked in to coordinate my preferred dining times, ensuring every meal was served perfectly fresh. Spacious Public Baths: The onsen facilities are fantastic. The public area is expansive and never felt crowded. Having both a sauna and a serene outdoor bath (rotenburo) made for a deeply relaxing experience. Comfortable Living: Unlike many traditional stays, the room here was very spacious and exceptionally well-heated, which made for a cozy retreat after a day of exploring. The Verdict This isn't just a place to sleep; it’s a place to be looked after. Between the thoughtful staff, the gourmet catering, and the top-tier bath facilities, Spa Shiosai offers the perfect balance of tradition and comfort. Highly recommended!

EExpat EDventuresReview: 5-Night Stay at One Niseko Hotel, Japan We recently stayed five nights at One Niseko and overall enjoyed our stay, but there are some important things future guests — especially skiers — should know. The rooms were spacious, generally clean, and had very comfortable beds and linens. A few small maintenance issues could use attention, but nothing that seriously affected our stay. Breakfast was decent but fairly repetitive, with mostly the same offerings each day aside from a few rotating dishes. Transportation logistics are probably the biggest consideration. The hotel only offers one daily pickup from the Grand Hirafu bus terminal, and it requires advance reservation. The hotel shuttle itself runs only to Annupuri and Moiwa and does so infrequently, often not aligning well with lift closing times. If the upper mountain lifts close early 3:30pm if they open at all  and may unexpectedly close due to wind or snow.Yyou can easily end up far from the hotel in this situation. Without the shuttle, taxis are limited and cost around $30 USD, or you may face a crowded 1.5-hour bus ride — skis included. The hotel is also quite far from Grand Hirafu, and there aren’t many restaurants within walking distance. We even walked back from Moiwa one day in the rain because the shuttle wouldn’t return for another hour — not ideal after skiing. On the positive side, ski rental prices at the hotel were actually better than many shops in the surrounding area. The hotel restaurant is flexible too — if it’s not full, you can usually walk in without a reservation. The onsen itself is nice, but etiquette enforcement could improve. Some guests were not following standard onsen rules and wearing underwear in the baths, which created an awkward atmosphere (I felt like an exhibitionist!). Management may want to either enforce rules more clearly or consider alternative policies to maintain guest comfort (allow swimsuits). Overall, we did enjoy our stay, but unless you have a rental car, I would strongly recommend considering accommodation in Niseko Village or closer to the lifts for convenience. One Niseko is comfortable but somewhat isolated, and transportation can become challenging quickly depending on weather and lift operations.

Very Good
GGuest UserThe onsen and hotel was in a great location if you like to backcountry ski. The room was spacious and decently clean with pretty comfortable beds, though a bit hard. It is kind of far from any services so make sure to pack some extra snacks and beers. The chef was out on vacation while we stayed so we had to get dinner in town each night which was a lot of driving in pretty gnarly weather. Overall, our stay was great though! Would definitely stay again. Would make sure to include the dinner and breakfast in our next stay.
