The location in Ypres Main Square is just perfect, especially for a History Group. Would cheerfully recommend this hotel anytime based on our experience. "

"As a family of 5, 3 adult sons, we had an amazing time at Menin Gate Houses. We actually stayed in both as decided to spend another night in Ypres so moved into house 2. Cannot fault the accommodation, the location, and especially Benoit, the host. Our stay coincided with a very difficult time for him, yet he was attentive and provided us with an experience at the Last Post ceremony we will never forget."

"Excellent location close to the square and the Menin Gate. Lovely room, although layout a little strange with sink in the room and separate wc and shower. Shower wasn't as clean as we would have liked and leaked out into the room, so perhaps the design needs addressing. Really comfortable bed and complimentary water was appreciated. Bar closed at 10.30pm."

"There are many negatives here that have been highlighted by previous travellers and yet no attempt to fix by the owner. The internet wifi is unusable. It takes nearly 5 minutes to download a search for local restaurants or 3 minutes to download a simple email from gmail. You need your own data plan. The price of breakfast is ridiculous at EUR 20 which defeats the point of a “BnB”. There is a trip hazard when you walk in the door. I rolled my ankle on the gap in the entrance foyer . The street noise is unbearable until 11pm as the property is located on a main road that has cobble stones. Our room was not serviced during our stay, which makes you feel like it is a basic Airbnb apartment, not the boutique hotel as advertised on their website. The location is good and parking is close , but communication with the owner is poor and I would recommend a local hotel rather than returning here."

"Menin Gate House is truly a remarkable piece of history. As a family of five, we found it spacious, well-equipped, and incredibly comfortable. The amenities were excellent, and the location couldn’t have been better—just a short walk to the shops and local attractions. It was lovely to prepare meals in the cozy, well-appointed kitchen. We stayed for three nights and easily could have stayed longer. Parking was simple and convenient, right on the street. From the moment we met Benoit, we felt welcomed. He was generous with his time and knowledge, taking the time to explain the history of WWI and why Ypres is such a significant place. His passion made our visit even more meaningful. We’ve made amazing memories at Menin Gate House and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area"

"These brand-new rooms are located on Boterstraat, a stone's throw from the Grote Markt. The Menin Gate is just over five minutes away, and you can park for free at Minneplein, which is a 450-meter walk away. We had the 'Family Father' room, which means you have to climb three steep flights of stairs and another flight of stairs to the upstairs bedroom. The rooms were clean and modern with coffee facilities. Power outlets are available next to the beds. The beds were comfortable, though the pillows were a bit on the thick side. And the space around the bed was a bit cramped. The friendly host sent a WhatsApp message on the day of arrival with the codes to get in, which worked perfectly. From the balcony, you have a view of the Cloth Hall and the cathedral. Unfortunately, breakfast is not available there, but there are plenty of options nearby. There was one hook in the bathroom; otherwise, there was nothing to put your clothes or belongings on."
