"Nanjing Huaji Laomendong Hotel was truly one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we pushed open the door and stepped inside, it felt as though we had been transported back in time—into the elegance and charm of the early 1900s. The hotel has so much character. Every corner is thoughtfully designed, with beautiful vintage details, carefully chosen furnishings, and charming decorative pieces that make the entire space feel warm, nostalgic, and full of atmosphere. It felt less like checking into a hotel and more like stepping into a beautifully preserved old residence with its own story to tell. The staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Our room was wonderfully comfortable, and we loved the view overlooking the street below. The room itself felt thoughtfully curated—comfortable while still fully in keeping with the hotel’s historic aesthetic. One of the best parts of staying here is the location inside the Laomendong area itself. Before the shops open and the crowds arrive, the neighborhood feels peaceful and almost dreamlike. We were able to wander through the old streets in the soft morning sunlight, enjoying the quiet atmosphere and appreciating the beauty of flowers, trees and the architecture in a completely different way. Those tranquil morning moments became some of our favorite memories from Nanjing. This hotel is more than just a place to stay—it feels like part of the experience of visiting Nanjing. If you appreciate heritage, atmosphere, thoughtful design, and the charm of old streets in the early morning before the city wakes up, this place is truly special. We would confidently recommend it to anyone visiting Nanjing. Staying here added something unforgettable to our trip, and we would happily return."

"This place definitely deserves all the allocades it has received. I am highly impressed by the impeccable services provided right from the time we arrived to drop off our luggage before checking in later. The staffs were all very friendly, helpful and thoughtful all through our stay and even after checking out! Kudos to all of them! Our room was big, very clean and stock with all amenities including two sets of velvet lined bathrobes and two sets of traditional costumes. Welcome fruit tray was provided when we checked in. And what surprised me most is the double boiled white fungus ”sweet water” supper waiting in our room when we returned later in the evening after exploring the night views of Jinling Xiaocheng! This is a place we will definitely returned to when we visit Nanjing next!"

"It's quite cold in the mountains at night. Although the store helped to turn on the air conditioner in advance, it was still quite cold. The bath water was basically cold after taking a bath, so there was not much point in booking a room with a private bath. There is no mineral water or kettle in the room. It's not good not to have hot water in such a cold day. It's quite relaxing to open the window in the morning and see the lush greenery outside. There may be activities at the coffee shop at noon, so be prepared for the noise."

"Because it was summer, there were not many people in the hot spring town. We seemed to be the only ones in the inn. Because of the greenery and the summer, there were a lot of bugs. The hygiene was a little lacking, but it was within an acceptable range. The landlady is very enthusiastic and the service is attentive. We were also specially upgraded to a room with an outdoor hot spring bath. The elders in the family liked bathing and were very happy. We liked the porridge and fried dough sticks for breakfast, and they didn't overcharge us for breakfast. After driving all day, I had a quiet night's sleep in the inn, which was very comfortable. Because I was a little tired after driving all day, I forgot to take pictures."
