"Well.. Do you really feel comfortable? Yes, the building (a&o Hamburg Reeperbahn, formerly Hotel Stern, address Reeperbahn 152/154) actually has a connection to the Nazi era - it was not a direct concentration camp or large concentration camp, but it was used as a forced labour camp in 1940. The exact connection (based on historical sources): • The house was built in 1891 as a Logierhaus Concordia - a cheap lodging house for poor men (e.g. Sailors, travellers without a permanent residence). It had 235 small single rooms, shared toilets and was typical for the rough harbour and red light district of St. Pauli. • In the Nazi era (especially from the 1930s), the house was often used by the porters (caretakers) to denounce (advertise) guests. Many men (e.g. B. homosexuals, ***********, ”asocials”) were arrested there and imprisoned - this was unfortunately common in Hamburg's ”Kiez”. • From August 1940: There was a forced labour camp of Deutsche Werft AG (a large Hamburg shipyard). The company used the existing building as accommodation for forced labourers - prisoners of war (POWs), civilians deported from occupied countries and from 1944 also prisoners from concentration camps (concentration camp subcamps). The shipyard had several such camps (mainly in Finkenwerder and harbour area), and this one in the Reeperbahn was one of them. Exact numbers (how many people, conditions) are not well documented, but it was part of the huge system of forced labour in Hamburg (a total of 400,000–500,000 people affected). • A Stolperstein biography mentions e.g. B. that a French woman had to perform forced labour in 1944 as a kitchen assistant in the Reeperbahn 154 Foreign Home (during pregnancy) before she came to another camp. After the war it became a normal tourist home again, converted into an Eros Centre (a large *******) in 1964, later refugee accommodation (in the 80s very dilapidated), then from 1999 Hotel Stern and 2009 a&o. Well. We had a real good sleep anyway. The Bath Room is so warm and the elevator was real… you will see…. Danke ;)"

"Checked in on Saturday, but the music from a nearby nightclub was loud all night and until after 7am the next morning. Sunday and Monday were quiet. The hotel provided earplugs instead. The hotel facilities were very old and not cleaned well, so there was a lot of dust. Parking reservations were required. The staff were friendly."

"The service was great, breakfast wasn't cheap at €29 but it was great! Unfortunately the evening meal wasn't that good for us, which is why we only ate it once!!! The fact that the sink is in the living/bedroom takes a bit of getting used to, the industrial floor is unfortunately much too cold in the cold season, there should be instructions for using the TV, coffee machine, lighting, etc.!!! Unfortunately there are ONLY a few hotel parking spaces and the entrance from the street is only visible at second glance, when there is heavy traffic or poor visibility the entrance should be better/earlier visible!!!"

"I stayed at Superbude St. Pauli and really liked it. The location is great – very central, well connected, and surrounded by lots of bars and restaurants. The atmosphere is cozy, and the price was quite fair for Hamburg. I didn’t spend much time in the room, mostly just for sleeping, but it was comfortable. The only small downsides were that the doors tend to slam a bit loudly and the lighting could be brighter. Overall, though, a really good place to stay."

"Good location. Clean room, comfy bed, safe in room. Again extra charge for use of the Sauna of 20 euros per person per day, not advertised on booking for Sauna hotel with added wait of one hour to heat sauna up beforehand. room was really cold on entering with window open. had to put the radiator on myself to warm up. Hotel is opposite train station for easy access to all tourist attractions in Hamburg and beyond."

"We had a thoroughly positive stay. It's a shame we only booked one night; we would have loved to stay longer. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Our room was a good size, and the bed was comfortable. We can only say good things about the breakfast as well."

"Upon arrival we had two down duvets and pillows while we are very allergic. When we asked for synthetic blankets we were told that if we came back in the evening, we could pick up the blankets ourselves at the reception. Upon returning after dinner it turned out that they only had 3 synthetic blankets, of which they had already given 2 to someone else. So we had to share one single blanket with two people. Because they did not have keys to the housekeeping cupboard, where there were more blankets. Very bad. They indicated that they would have a t****e blanket in the morning and that we would get compensation for the first night, for example a free breakfast that we had not yet booked. That would be nice. But the next morning they said that we could no longer get breakfast, because they had not counted on it in terms of numbers. While the booking stated that we could still buy breakfast on site. Even breakfast the next day was no longer possible. So we got a voucher to spend at the bar for €5,=. Not comparable to a breakfast for 2 people of course. All in all a very bad experience."

"The hotel is in a good location with convenient public transportation. There are many dining options nearby and the breakfast is also good. There is a park nearby with beautiful scenery, suitable for walking. The environment is very quiet, suitable for people who like quiet. The hygiene is slightly worse, and some waiters are not professional enough, there is room for improvement."

"Nice hotel. It's located opposite a park, and it's very convenient to get to the city center and nearby attractions. The buffet breakfast was delicious, and the coffee was good. The staff were very enthusiastic. The only downside is that the weather was always gloomy, typical of Germany."
