The hotel's location is excellent, right across from Kyoto Station. There's also an airport shuttle bus that goes directly to Kansai Airport, making it super convenient for getting around. There are shopping malls and an Aeon supermarket nearby, plenty of dining options, and shopping is really easy. For Japan, the room is quite spacious, enough to open two suitcases in the aisle, so it offers really good value for money. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto.

For this price point, all I can say is it's an absolute steal! You can really trust big brands. I'm usually someone who goes from basic to luxurious when choosing hotels, and the day before arriving here, I picked a more budget-friendly option. But this 'budget' hotel was so good, I didn't want to leave! It felt small yet cozy. Plus, there's a bath, and coming back from a morning run to soak in the tub was just heavenly. They even have a bar on the ground floor! Every day before heading out, I'd grab a lollipop or ice cream to kick off my city walk. My family loved it. The location is a bit further out, so walking can be tiring on your feet. After a morning run, we relied on taxis for getting around during the day. I couldn't quite figure out the subway; it seemed like the JR pass wasn't valid. Next time I visit, I plan to stay for an extended period. There's really no need to spend thousands or tens of thousands to stay at those top-tier hotels. I haven't felt particularly pampered or that it was exceptionally good there. For instance, the Park Hyatt is so expensive, primarily for its location. Everything else was just so-so, and the restaurants were incredibly crowded with a strong greasy smell.

I had breakfast at the hotel for three days straight, and it was the exact same every morning – no changes. The overall taste was decent, though. The biggest plus is definitely the location, which is super convenient. However, I really wasn't a fan of the Japanese-style decor. My main complaint is that my window faced a wall, so I couldn't open the curtains to get any sunlight, which I really disliked. Also, the bathroom design was a bit odd; the toilet lid kept opening on its own. On the bright side, the hotel offers a lot of activities daily, which is a nice touch. Outside the hotel, you're right by the Kamo River, so you can enjoy a very pleasant stroll along the riverside.

Even though the room was only 10 square meters, it was incredibly comfortable. It's rare to find such an affordable price during cherry blossom season. Plus, there's a convenience store right downstairs, Kyoto Station is just a short walk away, and Don Quijote is across the street. The location is absolutely fantastic.

Pros: The location is close to the bus station and about a 15-minute walk from Higashiyama's main attractions. There's a kitchen for simple cooking, and the rooms are larger than average for a similar price in Japan. There's a 7-Eleven and a supermarket nearby for shopping. Cons: This place can't be called a hotel or a B&B; it's more like a shared apartment. There's no 24-hour front desk (they're open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and you're usually unavailable at other times). There's no service, including bathroom breaks after check-out. Luggage storage is available until 7:00 PM. There's no taxi service; you have to hail one on the main street. There's no public rest area. There's also a basic kitchen, but it's limited to one pot, which is sufficient for cooking noodles or boiling eggs. You'll need to buy your own oil, salt, and other seasonings. Summary: This place is suitable for travelers on a tight budget who don't demand high-quality services and are looking for value.

For a Japanese hotel, the room was surprisingly spacious. It's conveniently located near Kiyomizu-Gojo train station and Gojo-zaka bus stop. While the breakfast selection wasn't huge, they did offer freshly prepared egg dishes. The hotel's decor is lovely, and there's a bar upstairs. Bicycle rentals are also available. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I noticed a lot of international guests staying here.

Yyoyo0218The room's design is very well-thought-out; you take off your shoes before entering, and it's clean and tidy. There's an openable window, so it doesn't feel cramped like a typical business hotel. The breakfast is quite impressive, even for a high-end Japanese hotel. The popular tempura bar is great when it's fresh out of the fryer, and the menu changes daily. The lounge (pictured in photo 5) is a comfortable place to wait for the shuttle, offering coffee and tea. From 4 PM to 6 PM, alcoholic beverages are available. Enjoying a dark beer while looking out at the view from the window is a truly pleasant experience. I even managed to get one good shot of autumn leaves 🍁 on this trip!

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves. When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service. The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point. There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

KKobemuDecided to visit Kyoto with my parents last minute, and the price for this hotel was quite good for a last-minute booking. It's very close to Kyoto Station, just a 5-minute walk. Plus, it's near the airport limousine bus stop, which was super convenient for our departure; we took the bus directly to Osaka Itami Airport and arrived in just 50 minutes. Check-in was done via a machine, which was very easy – just grab your room key and breakfast vouchers. The staff were also on hand to offer assistance. The room size was decent, not cramped for three people, and it was clean and tidy. The breakfast had a great variety, and my parents were very happy with it. We'd definitely stay here again.

LLeontevThis is a great hotel, my second time staying here. The rooms are very cozy and clean, and the staff is very helpful. Our flight was delayed, and they checked us in after check-in time. There's an onsen, and even though the water isn't mineral, it's still super after a long flight. Try the ice cream from the ice cream machine when you leave the onsen feeling hot. There's a cafe on the ground floor with breakfast: I recommend the Japanese-style one, but they also have a regular European option, and the coffee is good. There's a nice izakaya nearby with tempura, Tempura & Wine Kojima (天ぷらとワイン小島 京都店). There's also another cool cafe nearby, SAKESORA (京の).

GGuest UserAlthough it was short, I loved my stay here. Had great quality of sleep. Good base for Kyoto, near enough to key locations, but expect a lot of walking unless you use the bus. Nearest station is Kyoto Kawaramachi which is great for day drips just outside central Kyoto and if you are coming from Osaka or Kansai airport - see my tips below. Pros: great bathroom and toiletries, good water pressure and temperature, smart toilet, TV with streaming services, fridge, desk/stool, coat hooks (handy for winter time), semi-full length mirror, luggage rack, various lights to adjust to your preference, very clean, super comfortable firm mattress and pillows, good soundproofing for light sleepers, great air conditioning (room warms up pretty quickly in the winter), you can also open the windows which is nice, felt very safe as a solo female, can ask for more water bottles in reception, lift was never crowded, outlets next to bed, has luggage storage if you need, near the river and traditional streets for scenic strolls, close to bus stop, family mart otw from station for late night snacks. Cons: can hear police cars or cars with loud engines at night sometimes but not frequent, walking from the station with a suitcase was a bit longer than expected, my double room was a bit cramped for opening suitcase (could not open the front or bathroom doors fully to avoid hitting my suitcase) and I am one person (two suitcases would fit but you wouldn't be able to walk around the bed properly). Tips: If you are coming from Kansai airport (KIX), I recommend you take the airport limousine to Namba (bought a return ticket since it is cheaper). It drops you outside JR Namba station, you can go inside to get to the metro station, follow signs for the red Midosuji Line. Board the train to Umeda. Stay inside the station and follow signs for Osaka-Umeda or the brown Hankyu-Kyoto line. This line goes directly to Kyoto Kawaramachi station. When stations, always look for the lift signs if you have luggages. I think I took the lift closest to Exit 4, and it brings you up to a department store. You kinda have to walk through and get out. If you walk out the front entrance, there are a few steps, but if you go to the side doors, it has a slope to avoid carrying suitcases. It's a straight walk from the station. Unless you are doing day trips, Kyoto city buses are a lot better mode of transport in my opinion.

GGuest UserFacilities: My only complaint is that the king-size bed in the king room is made of two single mattresses pushed together, and after sleeping on it for a while, a gap forms between them. Hygiene: The hygiene is excellent. Environment: The surrounding area is very quiet, and there are convenience stores not too far away. Service: The service attitude is great, and the hotel even offers free shuttle service to Kyoto Station.

DDr.p3pp3rI stayed here in a double room and overall had a pretty good experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and both the air conditioning and heater worked very well. One thing that really stood out was the bathroom — the bathtub was much larger than what you usually get in Japan. I’m a tall person, and I could actually sit down and lie back comfortably, which is rare. Most hotel baths feel very small, but this one felt closer to around 1.4m in length, which made having a bath genuinely enjoyable. The bed was comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job — the bed was made every day with fresh sheets. Wi-Fi was also very fast, which was a big plus. Amenities were decent, and you can pick up extra items if you need them. Check-in is a bit late at 3pm, which I didn’t love, but that’s balanced out by an 11am checkout. Having that extra time in the morning made it feel worth it overall. I did have a couple of negatives. The strangest one was finding an old sock behind the TV when I arrived. It was very obvious and not hidden, so I’m not sure how it was missed during cleaning. It was a bit gross, but I just left it. Another downside was the mini fridge — it’s more like a cooler than a real fridge. It keeps drinks from getting warm, but they don’t get properly cold. In summer, this really wouldn’t be good enough. Replacing it with a proper mini fridge would be a big upgrade. The other major issue was the lift. It is painfully slow, and there’s only one lift for the upper floors. On checkout day, I left my room about 10 minutes before checkout time, and I almost didn’t make it downstairs in time because of how slow it was. That part was honestly pretty ridiculous. Location-wise, this hotel is excellent. It’s very easy to get to from Kyoto Station — just head south and you’re there in about 4–5 minutes. It’s also very convenient when leaving Kyoto by train. A tip for using the subway: instead of going back to Kyoto Station, walk right from the hotel to Shijō Station. It’s on the same subway line, you’ll get on before Kyoto Station, and the train is empty — so you’re almost guaranteed a seat and can ride comfortably to your destinations. For food and shopping, there’s a shopping mall just across the road toward the station with a Don Quijote, McDonald’s, and other options. The hotel is also right next to a Coco Ichibanya curry house, which is fantastic and open late. Overall, despite a few odd issues, this was a solid stay with a great location, good comfort, and very easy access to transport. I’d happily consider staying here again.

GGuest UserLocation not the best and can find nearer to Kyoto station with same price. The location only good to go Nijojo castle, Toji Temple & Ginkako temple. Nothing much nearby, no night bars only a restaurant opposite it. The worst was no lift, for a female with 20 kg luggage, I have to carry it for 4 levels up and down all by myself. It’s understandable no space to install lift, but pls consider to install a luggage travel lift. Layout of the room is very good especially bath and toilet inside the room. Some may not like it cause ppl may back late night to bath and make noises. But I do like the single room layout with small dress up table before the capsule bed.
