Hotels near COEX Aquarium, Seoul

The room was a bit small but quite comfortable, and it wasn't noisy despite being close to the road. It's a bit of a walk to the subway station, and there's a big hill... but for this price in this area, it's acceptable. The bathroom and toilet are separate, which is very convenient for friends traveling together. I just wish there was a convenience store downstairs, as they are all quite far away.

Here's a recap of my stay at the Seoul Riviera Hotel. The address is 737 Yeongdong-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Even though I booked two months in advance, I ended up booking during a price surge. I paid 4330 KRW for 4 nights, which was basically over 1000 KRW per night. Usually, it's around 500-600 KRW. This time, there were a lot of people in Seoul for concerts, which drove hotel prices up three or four times. The hotel I stayed at last time in Seoul also had its prices hiked by several hundred. Since there were three of us, I booked a standard room for three, with one double bed and one single bed. The room was relatively small, but it was quite clean, and the hotel staff were all very nice. We stayed for 4 consecutive nights, and it was very quiet, so the overall experience was good. Here's the transportation information: The airport bus 6006 goes directly to the hotel. You get off at the Riviera Hotel stop, which is right in front of the hotel entrance. You can enter the hotel directly, no need to walk even a minute, which is excellent. How to take the airport bus to Incheon Airport? The hotel front desk had two diagrams: one for the airport bus timetable directly to Incheon Airport, and another showing where to catch the bus. From the main hotel entrance, turn right and walk straight to the first crosswalk. Cross the street, and you'll see a Starbucks. The bus stop is right in front of Starbucks, about a 5-minute walk. The entire journey takes less than 2 hours. The nearest subway station is Cheongdam Station, about a 7-minute walk. Because the hotel is in Gangnam-gu, close to Apgujeong, we walked to Apgujeong. It took about 20-30 minutes, strolling and looking around. We took a public bus to Hannam-dong, which was also very convenient. The hotel also seemed to have a hot spring, but we didn't have time to go. There's also a particularly delicious 24-hour Korean restaurant near the hotel.

Pretty good! The location is excellent, right across from the express bus terminal and Hyundai Department Store. There are also two streets behind the hotel with plenty of restaurants. The hygiene was fine, and a big plus was having a separate shower room. No more showering while standing in a bathtub! 🥹

it's opposite coex mall and exhibition center. there is train station next to it, got GS25 convenience store at the corner. room is small, but clean. only 2 water bottles will be given each day. bathroom with smart toilet seats, but water out for water is kind of hot. room is hot n cannot be adjusted, because it's centralised heater. outside of the room got construction n busy road, so a bit noisy if you open window for fresh or cooler air. TV in the room is big n can watch YouTube.

The room itself was decent. While a bit small, the bed was large and very comfortable, so I slept well. However, the soundproofing isn't great. I was woken up in the morning by noise from the hallway, and I could hear the TV from the next room at night. The service was pretty mediocre. The front desk staff seemed indifferent, and you absolutely couldn't check in before 3 PM. For this price point, it definitely fell below expectations.

The hotel surroundings are nice, and the front desk staff speak basic English. On the first day, I found a midge on the curtains, but otherwise, the cleanliness was acceptable, and there was no drain smell from the bathroom. Disposable slippers were provided, but no toothbrush or toothpaste. Everything in the minibar, except for water, was chargeable. I booked a hotel in Gangnam because I was attending a concert at KSPO Dome. Pros: After the concert, it was usually easy to find a seat on the Express Line 9, and I could quickly reach Bongeunsa Station. There aren't many restaurants on the way back to the hotel, but there are several convenience stores. Cons: The walk from Bongeunsa Station to the hotel is really, really far, and you have to climb a gentle slope before descending! Cheongdam Station is about half the distance, but coming from Olympic Park, you'd need to transfer from Line 5 to Line 7, and Line 5 is usually much more crowded after events. Additionally, I had extended my stay through Trip.com before check-in, but the front desk initially thought I had only booked one night. After some communication, they found the extension order and processed it. However, on the second night, my room card stopped working and needed to be re-authorized. I hope the platform and the hotel can improve this issue.

The hotel is conveniently located not far from the subway, and there is also an airport bus stop right in front of the hotel, which makes transportation quite easy. However, if you take the airport bus, the journey from the airport can take around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Check-in time is 3:00 PM, but the staff kindly suggested signing up for a membership, which allows early check-in. The room was clean, well-organized, and very comfortable. I slept so well that I almost didn’t want to get up and go sightseeing. The in-room amenities were also very good. However, there was no toothbrush provided, so it’s better to bring your own. The staff were very friendly and gave helpful recommendations during the stay.

This place was genuinely much better than I expected. I was a bit worried after reading some other reviews, but the front desk lady was super nice and even spoke a little Chinese! Check-in was easy, just signed my passport. I stayed in a deluxe room, and I thought it was perfectly fine, especially since I was so tired after the concert and could get back quickly. Just a heads-up: make sure you don't take the express train and miss Samseong Station; get off at Exit 1. The room had a fridge (with paper cups inside) and a safe, plus bathrobes. Remember to bring your own toothpaste and toothbrush though (I think that's a common policy in Korean hotels). There's a huge COEX mall nearby, great for shopping, and Lotte World is right downstairs, but I didn't have time to visit. The bed was big enough for two (I was solo). The TV was large, but I didn't use it. If you're going to a concert at Jamsil Arena, this hotel is a really good choice. To get to Jamsil, use Exits 6 or 7 from the Sports Complex Station. There's a convenience store nearby that sells batteries, and restrooms are available. I believe Exit 6 has lockers. If you can't find a place to store your luggage, you have two options: 1. Store it at the COEX shopping center, or 2. Hide it in a stairwell corner at Jamsil (no guarantee it won't get lost). Overall, I thought it was great! If my favorite artist performs at Jamsil again, I'll definitely stay here! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

The 6006 airport bus took about 1.5 hours, which was very convenient. I was a bit worried about the stay before arriving, but a short-haired lady at the front desk was incredibly friendly and spoke fluent English. She understood my needs perfectly and was very helpful. Both check-in and check-out were smooth and felt very personal. The location is excellent: a 5-minute bike ride to Apgujeong, about a 20-minute walk, and Uber pick-ups are easy to pinpoint. There's a 24-hour fried chicken place and a convenience store right below the hotel. The room was very clean; it was small but had everything you needed, including a coffee machine and a smart toilet with a wet/dry separation. The only minor downsides were no toothbrush or comb, and only two bottles of water in the mini-fridge.
