Hotels near Honghwamun Gate, Seoul

This hotel is really close to Jongno 3-ga Station, making it super convenient for getting to Gyeongbokgung Palace and Myeongdong. The room was a bit small, but very clean. You can store your luggage before check-in, and the self-check-in process was a breeze. For a Seoul city center hotel, it offers excellent value for money.

We had a great experience with the hotel. The staff are super friendly and accomodating. They all speak English very well, which made communication easier for us because we don’t speak Korean. The room we booked was a twin bed. It was spacious and easy to move around. They don’t allow AC until mid May, but they provided us a fan and the window can be opened. The location is central enough to a lot of places without being in the center of the busy area, which we prefer. The hotel has a Japanese style bidet and an exchange machine on the lobby. We didn’t get to use the gym because we were walking everywhere and didn’t get the time. It does look very nice though. We’re coming back to stay again at the beginning of July.

This hotel was perfectly located for exploring Seoul. On my first evening, even though I arrived a few hours later than planned, I was still able to enjoy an evening walk at Changgyeonggung Palace, followed by dinner at Gwangjang Market, a stroll along Cheonggyecheon Stream, and a walk back to the hotel via the charming street of cafés and bars beside the walls of Jongmyo Shrine. Public transportation was very convenient, with several bus stops within a block or two of the hotel, and there were multiple convenience stores and restaurants nearby as well. Despite being so centrally located, the area did not feel crowded, noisy, or especially touristy. It is also close to SNUH, which may be a plus for some travelers. My favorite part of the stay was the view of Changgyeonggung Palace from my room. The room was comfortable and perfectly adequate, though not especially fancy. My main complaints were that the bedside plug was awkwardly hidden behind the mattress, and that the toilet did not have a bidet, which was particularly inconvenient given that toilet paper cannot be flushed.

The male receptionist on the day of my arrival provided excellent service. Thank you for the warm welcome. The hotel is located in an alleyway directly opposite Gwangjang Market. From Seoul Station, take Subway Line 1 to Jongno 5-ga Station, Exit 1. Walk straight, turn right at the coffee shop, and the hotel is a short walk from there. There are plenty of food options downstairs and a convenience store nearby, so it's very convenient. The room was decent, clean, and comfortable for sleeping. If you need housekeeping, just inform the front desk, or you can directly request amenities like toilet paper, bottled water, or trash bags from them. Highly recommended!

The biggest plus is its location, right by Jonggak Station and Jongno 2-ga. Airport bus 6002 drops you off directly at Jongno 2-ga, and it's also quite close to Seoul Station, so taking the AREX and then transferring works too. The surrounding area has excellent amenities – there's a Daiso right downstairs and several Olive Young stores nearby. The backstreets are a food paradise, offering tons of late-night snack options. The hygiene is good, and the bunk beds are quite spacious. The bathroom and shower are also acceptably clean, though they aren't cleaned frequently, so it relies on guests to maintain them. The lounge offers capsule coffee and ice, but not much else.

This hotel clearly puts a lot of thought into every detail, and it's by far the best experience I've had during my stays in Seoul. 1. **Warm, but not overbearing service.** From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by a Korean gentleman. Then, a friendly, seemingly Western staff member helped me with the entire check-in process. Afterwards, he even gave me a map in Chinese and explained the surrounding neighborhood and transportation options. The whole experience was fantastic (P.S. The hotel offers free breakfast to all guests from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. I woke up too late this time, but I'll definitely try it on my next visit). 2. **Reliable cleanliness.** The black tiles around the sink, which usually show water stains easily, were completely spotless. The bed and tables were equally tidy. What's more, and this is a significant point, it's the *only* hotel I've stayed at in Seoul where there was no unpleasant smell from the drains. There was also a very subtle, understated fragrance in the air, which was lovely. 3. **Tasteful decor and sensible space planning.** I checked in in the afternoon, and the sun was shining beautifully into the room. It was so blissful to lie on the bed, bask in the sun, and do some writing. Outside the window, it was a semi-residential/office area, so there wasn't a lot of loud traffic noise, ensuring a good night's sleep. **In summary:** An absolutely wonderful hotel! I'd recommend it to all my friends visiting Seoul.

Towels had holes and were rough. Bins were not lined not sure if clean. Linens were not changed daily when we stayed for 6 nights and there were marks on the pillowcase. Location was alright, near many cafes and bakeries and bbq. Convenience store right opposite. Mammoth Coffee across the road was cheap and good. Walkable to the subway. Service was responsive but not outstanding, befitting a 3 star hotel. Some staff were more friendly and helpful than others. there was a Front counter staff who seemed to suggest that we were expecting too much from a 3 star hotel. nevertheless they provided extra pillows and a change in mattress pad to a softer one on request which we appreciate. there was a plumbing issue that was quickly resolved. however although the aircon on 10th floor allows us to adjust the temperature, the aircon automatically turns off once the temperature is reached which led to us feeling hot and cold throughout the night (in april). there was a women’s hot bath (not just a foot bath as stated) but it was unsupervised so not sure how other travelers used it and i was not comfortable to go in totally bare so i just soaked my feet for a bit which was not bad.

Booking platform: Trip.com. Pros: The facilities are complete, and it's very clean. The location is what I liked most; bus stops and MRT stations are all nearby (100m-600m). There are three hawker centers nearby with plenty of food options. Ya Kun Kaya Toast and Nanyang Coffee for breakfast are also very close, as well as 7-Eleven, and you can even buy pandan cake nearby. There are also many attractions, and it's convenient to travel to other sights. Merlion Park, Gardens by the Bay, and Clarke Quay are all very close, just a few bus stops away. Cons: Using the apartment's own app to open the door makes check-in a bit cumbersome for first-time users. Additional comments: 1. During my stay, the fire alarm in the hallway went off twice. After informing the staff, an employee named Marry immediately came to resolve it. She looks a lot like Lisa!!! 2. I had read in the apartment description that there were bars nearby and it might be noisy at night. I stayed in room 101, right by the entrance, but it was surprisingly quiet at night. I even brought earplugs, but it seems I didn't need them. Perhaps it only gets lively with drinkers on weekend nights, but it didn't disturb my rest. 3. This chain has many branches. There's another one on the next street, and I saw their branches near other attractions when taking the bus. It seems all their locations are pretty good.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfort and convenience. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was especially cozy, which made it easy to relax after a long day. I also appreciated the attention to detail in the room setup. The hotel’s location was perfect—close to key attractions, restaurants, and transportation, making it very easy to get around. The facilities, including the pool and fitness center, were well-kept and added extra value to the experience. Overall, it was a pleasant and hassle-free stay. I would definitely come back again and recommend this hotel to friends and family.

The location was amazing, plenty of good food around and walkable distance to 2 stations. There's also 2 convenient stores nearby ＜5mins! The room was clean and just nice to store 2 luggages! Everything was clean and comfortable. There is also water, coffee machine, washer and dryer and instant noodle machine on every level too. 10/10 would definitely come back here to stay, the staffs here also speak good English and are super helpful!
