Hotel is old, but it has been kept up. there isn't need for much service, since there's only a self-service breakfast with throw-away utensils. However, the front desk is friendly and helpful. It's really a gem in such an expensive area.

Let's start with the location, which is a major plus. The bus to the Angels Ferry Station is just $1.75 (so cheap), and the Grover Cottage shopping district and the century-old Farmer's Market are a 5-minute walk away. It's also located in a safe part of Los Angeles, so there's no homeless wandering around at night. The building is a bit dated, and the carpet felt damp throughout my three-day stay. There's a small outdoor area, but no public restroom in the lobby. If you've stored your luggage and want to use the restroom after returning to the airport after a busy day, be sure to check in after you've finished exploring. Breakfast includes boiled eggs, bread, wraps, juice, milk, and a self-service waffle maker, which is plenty filling. The front desk was a bit of a hassle. The check-in process was more rigorous than in over a dozen other US cities I've visited. There was even a middle-aged Asian woman with a sullen, disgruntled expression, a stark contrast to any hotel staff I've encountered in the US. To sum up: in this area of the city, for budget-conscious families like us, the price/performance ratio is still excellent. Don't expect too much, but our kind of travel is just to go home and take a nap at night, so this is really good.

The worst hotel in this trip to the United States, more than 1,000 per night, but the room facilities are very poor, similar to the domestic hotels that cost about 100 yuan per night, the bed is of very low quality, my left and right feet were hit by the wooden blocks of the bed and left two big bruises, the towels and supplies are also poor. The facilities of hotels in other cities around 1,000 are much better than this one. I don't recommend you to stay here

This was my second time staying in the dormitory here! The location is excellent, with both the subway and bus stops within a 5-minute walk. I stayed in a female-only quad room. The room has bunk beds (each with a pillow, blanket, sheets, one light, and an outlet), air conditioning, a window that opens for ventilation (as there was a slight lingering smell), and a personal locker (you need to bring your own lock). There's also a private changing area with a mirror, light, and curtain, so you can change clothes in the room. A trash can is provided. There are several hooks to hang luggage, but no hangers. For the bottom bunk, taller individuals might find it a bit low, so it might be worth requesting an upper bunk. Amenities like towels and hairdryers can be borrowed from the front desk.
Breakfast includes two types of bagels, sliced bread, oranges, jam, cream cheese, oatmeal (I think?), coffee, hot water, tea bags, and mineral water. Some people were cooking with ingredients they bought in the kitchen! There were also two large refrigerators where you could store items by writing your name on them.
The shower rooms, toilets, and a changing area with mirrors and curtains are all located in one spot but are separated. The shower rooms have shelves outside for luggage, but they're a bit narrow, and there are no hooks or luggage racks inside the individual stalls, which can be a bit inconvenient. Shampoo and body soap are provided. (Many people were changing in the adjacent changing room.) In the mornings, depending on the time, there were often many people doing their makeup, but I didn't have to wait and everyone shared the space well.
One issue I had was on just one night when I tried to use the shower, all four stalls only had cold water, with no explanation or sign that they were broken. It was freezing, which was terrible. I recommend testing if the hot water works at the sink before changing when you use the shower room!
Also, the hotel entrance is narrow, and there's no elevator, so it's immediately steep stairs. Carrying large suitcases to the rooms can be very challenging.
When checking out, you need to remove the pillow and the two sheets you used from your bed and return them to the small window at the front desk. Please also return your card key to the front desk. If you have any other questions, the front desk staff are helpful and should be able to assist you. I hope this information is useful.

This hotel has a great location. Once upon a time, it was THE place to stay in West Hollywood, particularly around Pride and other festivals. Nowadays, the hotel needs repair. It's clear they are cutting corners. Imagine light-blocking curtains that break, so they just rip them out and leave the room without them. Imagine fluorescent lights in the bathroom that need the ballast replaced so they can turn on properly again - but instead the hotel just leaves them as is and they struggle to put out a slight glow. Imagine contacting them to please set up the sofa bed because the two people staying in the room aren't a couple, and the hotel not only neglects to set up the sofa bed, they refuse to set it up other than to throw a bunch of sheets into your arms after you complain. That said, the location is very convenient if you need to be exactly in that part of town.

Very recommended hotel, shopping is very convenient, hotel service is also very good, every day also sent ten dollars to consume, beer is very good to drink, the overall is very like, the only drawback is that the window is not shaded, can not sleep very late, but unfortunately did not find this hotel in the first four days, Wasted four days to live in another 2680 place, looking forward to coming to Los Angeles next time, you will definitely see or leave

I’ll start by saying that the views are amazing. The hotel is located in the heart of Koreatown, with many great places nearby that are reachable within a 15 minute walk. The area is good, safe, and relatively clean by LA standards. The hotel has its own vibe, which I’m sure many people will enjoy.
A nice addition is that the hotel has an Alfred Coffee in the lobby, as well as its own club, which adds to the overall atmosphere and convenience.
The rooms, however, could be cleaner, have a better layout, and feature more updated amenities such as the hairdryer, shower curtains, and similar details. Overall, it was an okay stay.

22688071370The room was clean and tidy, with complete amenities, including a coffee machine and refrigerator, and two free bottles of purified water were provided daily. The hotel is located directly opposite the Los Angeles Convention Center, a five-minute walk to the exhibition hall, and there are subway and bus stations nearby. The hotel lobby and restaurant are on the 34th floor, and the Western-style breakfast buffet offers a rich variety of delicious options! You can also enjoy city views from the bar on the 34th floor.
YYC008Here's why we gave the experience 3 stars;
First of all, when we booked the hotel, neither Trip.com nor The Aster, Los Angeles, mentioned anything about the rooftop being closed on the dates we booked. On May 13 and May 14, we stayed in room 3 0 6. The hotel pictures showed and bragged about having a rooftop and plenty of pics of people there, and nowhere was revealed anywhere on their website or Trip.com that would not be available on those dates. When we reached out to Trip.com, they pretty much said that the rooftop amenities weren't listed as part of our package. Really Trip.com? You have to list the rooftop as the amenity... Got it. That was so lame a response. Everyone knows people book due to the pictures, and this was a seriously lame response from the Trip.com customer support personnel. We decided to save our opinion for this review.
The Aster had nice people, but it's hard to believe the availability missing on their website is a detail they would miss. Their hotel has impeccable detail and design. One can only surmise they conveniently left out the information because people would obviously not book there and go somewhere else. I told the front receptionist this as we were checking in. She mentioned, well, it said it on *******. But we didn't book through *******, we booked through Trip.com. And those specific details were not evident. After July 1st the Government is getting stricter on transparency with hotels having to mention things so we missed this window, but we're happy to hold hotels like The Aster accountable:-)
Also, on Wednesday, we checked out, and they had a fire alarm drill test that lasted about 10 minutes. They forgot to mention another minor ”inconvenience” when we booked on their website. It was at 10 am. It wasn't so bad, but to state the obvious, they left out the ability for customers to decide by not making that information transparent during the booking process. It's not like the fire department or tech people didn't schedule that in advance.
1. If you book through Trip.com, please make sure you specify, call their customer support, and get it in writing. The clickbait and pictures seem shady and sketchy and reflect a lack of credibility in the process.
2. Trip.com asked which room we wanted to be in. When we picked the room, we picked the city-view balcony. But we got put in the poolside view instead. It wasn't bad, but that was missing in the booking details that Trip.com sent to The Aster. My fiance ended up being okay with the poolside view, but it should have been in the booking details via Trip.com. So please, please make sure you watch this if you book through them and call the hotel in advance.
Lastly, the decor, valet, and, in general, the service people were very nice and thoughtful. We would give them 5 stars.
GGuest UserMy wife and I visited Catalina Island for our 28th anniversary — our first time back since before we were married in 1997. We chose the Catalina Canyon Inn specifically for the pool, jacuzzi, on-site restaurant, and shuttle service. Their website is very nice and seemed like a perfect match for the occasion. Unfortunately, very little matched what was advertised.
Shuttle: The shuttle was not waiting at the Catalina Express port when we arrived on the last ferry Saturday evening which was unexpected. Four of us were left waiting in the dark for about 20 minutes until the other couple called the hotel. The driver was friendly and apologized, but this set the tone for the weekend. The shuttle was consistently unreliable throughout our stay. They tell you to call the driver directly, but he often didn't answer. You'd end up having to call the hotel instead, and the shuttle only seemed to come after someone went inside and told the front desk in person. At one point we waited 45 minutes. Some guests got frustrated and just decided to walk, but the hotel sits at the top of a steep hill — not a realistic option, especially for older guests like us. Their website suggests the shuttle runs regularly, but that was far from our experience.
Restaurant: We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 PM Saturday and were turned away, even though their website says they're open until 8:00 PM. We had to rush down the hill to find dinner to-go in town before the shuttle stopped running at 8:45. It was a shame we didn't even have time to stay and eat on our anniversary or face having to trek up that hill. The next morning I mentioned this to the restaurant owner, who insisted they closed at 8:00 and that she was there. She then told us the restaurant closes at 2:00 PM on Sundays — so dinner there that night wasn't an option either. She was very friendly though I must say. On Monday we finally had breakfast before checkout. The food was mediocre and didn't match the glowing reviews at all. The prices were also odd — $12 for mozzarella sticks, $20 for nachos, but only $11 for pulled pork sliders, which you'd expect to be the pricier item. The pricing just didn't add up. While we were there, another couple was turned away at 1:30 PM because the restaurant closes from 2–4 on Mondays. We could feel their frustration.
Jacuzzi: The jacuzzi we were looking forward to was covered up and converted into a gazebo with chairs. At first we couldn't find it but yea. No mention of this on the website.
Room issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The front desk told us we can mention it to housekeeping, who didn't come until after 5:00 PM. We got the soap and a couple fresh towels. The towels themselves were thin and didn't dry well overnight so fresh ones were sorely needed to get at least one shower in with soap before we had to leave the next day. The TV didn't work at all, and the microwave was unplugged — though I was able to fix that myself. The hotel also doesn't offer complimentary coffee, which is standard at most hotels we've stayed at for half the price.
The good: The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and the balcony was a nice touch. The room was quiet.
Bottom line: The website gives a very different impression than what you actually get. Between the unreliable shuttle, limited and unpredictable restaurant hours, missing amenities, thin towels, and no coffee, this was not the anniversary experience we hoped for. I'd recommend staying somewhere closer to downtown so you're not dependent on a shuttle and stuck with limited options. I think we need to redo our anniversary. It was a miss for sure.
GGuest UserThe hotel's location is very close to the airport, with plenty of convenient shuttle services. The room was clean and quiet, ensuring a good night's sleep. There's a large supermarket, a burger joint, Starbucks, and convenience stores nearby, making it perfect for guests transferring flights the next day. The breakfast was Western style and a bit monotonous, but to my surprise, the restaurant had a hot water dispenser. This was very convenient for making tea or instant noodles if you're not a fan of Western food.
LLyn R.Awesome front desk service and staff! Just stayed over for the weekend to attend a Dodgers game. Picked this hotel because other closer hotels had a $40-$60 per night parking fee, while this one was reasonably priced at $15 per night I believe. I wasn’t expecting a brand new hotel, and it was really nice. Only junk thing was our in room fridge was either broken or not plugged in so I had to throw away a cup of fruit but not a big deal. Will definitely be staying here every time I come to town for a game.
GGuest UserThe hotel is about 27 kilometers from Los Angeles Airport, a taxi ride of less than half an hour. It seems to be a Chinese-owned hotel, and check-out is at 12 PM. Breakfast is served until 10 AM. The surrounding area is convenient with a Target supermarket, McDonald's, Panda Express, and Ross, making shopping easy. The room facilities are a bit old, but it's clean. The value for money is decent.
GGuest UserI have to say, I'm really impressed with this hotel's environment and service. The decor is quite new and clean (looks like it's been recently renovated), and the soundproofing is relatively good. You can hear planes passing by, but it's not too loud, which is a significant improvement compared to other similarly priced hotels I've stayed at in the US. They offer a 24-hour airport shuttle that runs every 10-15 minutes, with a bus tracker, and convenient waiting areas at both the airport and the hotel. The ride from the airport to the hotel is about 8-10 minutes. What truly stood out was their thoughtful provision of three different types of water in the lobby, especially since most hotels don't provide any water at all. If you're not planning on frequent trips into the city center, this is an excellent choice. Plus, there are several car rental services within a 5-minute walk of the hotel.
GGuest UserThis is our second time staying at this Holiday Inn. Before checking in, due to our travel plans, we needed to store our luggage at the hotel for several days. We had inquired with nearby hotels but didn't get clear information. Today, with the help of Kevin at the front desk, we paid $100 to store three pieces of luggage for five days. This might be due to different policies, as we're used to the service in our home country. Nevertheless, we're very grateful for his help in checking and ultimately agreeing to store our luggage. The breakfast, as always, is excellent. We'll be staying at the Holiday Inn again when we return to Los Angeles in a couple of days.
NNicky_the_travelerMy go to for Hollywood. Very clean, location is a tad sketchy but it’s close to Universal and TCL. Bathroom is always clean. Staff is not warm but get the job done. Cheapest place around that isn’t gross or sketchy. Would recommend.
Tt_m_yThe location is fantastic, with direct access to the D line. K-town also offers plenty of great food and shopping. It's a converted detached building, and the front yard is beautifully decorated. Inside, there's a lot of vintage decor, making it feel like it used to be an office, complete with a piano. I booked the room hoping for a tall arched window but it didn't have one. However, the overall facilities are clean, and the bed outlets and lighting are well-thought-out and convenient. The front desk staff are very welcoming.
