Guest UserPhenomenal experience here at Hyatt House in Sandton! Set in the suburbs of Johannesburg, this hotel provides a safe and tranquil environment. Rooms were super comfortable and had an apartment sort of setup with a stove, microwave, and mini fridge. In addition, the staff here are absolutely INCREDIBLE. I honestly cannot thank them enough. They are super kind and will make sure you have a great stay in Johannesburg. From the front desk to the breakfast staff, everyone was amazing, and I am looking forward to returning back to Joburg one day.

TianshangyougedamiaomiaoOverall, it was decent. However, some of the older Black staff members showed significant discrimination towards Chinese guests, and their attitude was very poor, despite me leaving a R50 housekeeping tip every day. In contrast, the younger Black staff were very friendly and enthusiastic towards Chinese people, and I'd often give them a few US dollars as a tip. There was a young Black woman at the front desk who seemed like a junior supervisor, and a handsome young intern. The round-faced one was particularly warm. I even prepared Christmas gifts for them, but unfortunately, they seemed to be on vacation those two days, so I gave the gifts to the cleaning staff as a checkout present instead. I wasn't very happy with the room assignment; my window faced a connecting corridor platform. The day after I checked out, there was a shooting and robbery incident on the hotel's doorstep platform, where two white women were robbed and shot. It's still a bit dangerous there.

A Truly Exceptional Stay at Fairlawns Boutique Hotel
My recent stay at Fairlawns Boutique Hotel in Johannesburg was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment I arrived, I felt enveloped in an atmosphere of calm, luxury, and genuine hospitality. This is the kind of property that doesn’t just meet expectations — it elevates them.
I was booked into one of the Villa Suites, and it was an experience in itself. The suite was beautifully appointed, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, blending elegance with comfort in a way that felt both indulgent and homely. Every detail from the plush furnishings to the serene garden views contributed to a sense of effortless relaxation. It truly felt like a private sanctuary.
The service throughout my stay was impeccable. Staff members were warm, attentive, and intuitive without ever being intrusive. Whether it was assistance with luggage, dining recommendations, or simply a friendly check‑in to ensure everything was perfect, the team consistently delivered with professionalism and charm.
The hotel grounds are equally impressive. Lush, tranquil, and meticulously maintained, they create a peaceful escape that feels worlds away from the bustle of the city. It’s the ideal setting for unwinding, whether by the pool, in the spa, or simply strolling through the gardens.
Dining at Fairlawns was another highlight. The food was beautifully presented and full of flavour, with a menu that balances creativity and comfort. Every meal felt like a treat.
Overall, Fairlawns Boutique Hotel offers an exceptional blend of luxury, privacy, and heartfelt hospitality. My stay in the Villa Suite was unforgettable, and I would recommend this hotel without hesitation to anyone seeking a refined and restorative escape in Johannesburg.

Guest UserAnother amazing stay at the catalyst!
Two years ago I had forgotten my headsets, winter gown and a charger; they contacted me whilst I was at the airport regarding my oopsie and I let them know that I couldn’t come back to the airport as I was awaiting a flight, I asked them if they could safeguard my belongings and we communicated via email a year later- I hadn’t had the chance to return back to collect them. Two years later, I checked into the Catalyst again not expecting them to have kept my belongings, however, two years later not only had they kept my belongings in mint condition and they returned them back to me. A big thank you to everyone at the Catalyst, thank you for being trustworthy and providing impeccable customer service and support. I can not recommend you enough!!

This is a great hotel , in a good location. The check in was smooth, room service is a bit slow though. House keeping is excellent, I like them so much . The facility is great but I didn’t like the pool area , is always packed with so many people. Some of them weren’t even guest at the hotel . Which make it a bit unsafe to leave your belonging just lying around. I mean you have to pack up everything every time you go to the loo. The pool area had no space to sit and chill on especially in the afternoon. The bar takes a bit long to prepare drinks . The waitress/waiter were amazing. I just didn’t like the check out time . 10 am it’s too early and they weren’t keen on extending with just one hour . I don’t think I’ll book again . Safety issues. If other people didn’t have that much access to the hotel I wouldn’t mind staying there again.

The location is spectacular. The rooms are good value for money. I liked my stay a lot. The only thing is if you’re booked into a room further away, you must know that if it is raining you have to walk outside and to the entrance to fetch your food orders or get your uber — only downside.

It's giving more 3 than 4 stars? Customer service poor.
Holiday Inn was full so this was a close alternative.
Had amenities but their outlets were in the kitchen far from the bed? Not very business traveller or relaxing traveller friendly.
I booked a queen studio which had a kitchenette which was great for warming food etc. Decor a bit tired so could do with some love. But apart from a very dirty bottle left on the balcony it was clean.
Location is excellent for Rosebank Mall even if you have to play chicken to cross the road 😆
Customer service was severely lacking. I thought Radisson Red staff were slow but at least they were always there. You can't call frontdesk . It's all QR codes and WhatsApp. Late check out would be the cost of another night R1980. Staff had a, I dunno attitude and werent very helpful. 1 security guard and 1 young lady in the lounge are the only exceptions. Outlets in the lounge and office were local only and I had to really ask to get where I could buy adapters / converters.
Next time I'll go elsewhere. They're not customer focused enough for me.

All was well, the place was good. Good service from the front desk. But as a traveler with limited luggage there are some things we need eg. shower caps, bottled water, hair dryer.
