Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat

Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat

📍 324 Land Road, Butchers Creek
★★★★ 9.0 (19 reviews)

"This was one of the best stays we had on our 3 week travel in Australia. We stayed for 2 nights and stocked up to ensure we were cut off from everything and enjoyed 2 full days of doing next to nothing. We bought food to BBQ which we enjoyed on the balcony/veranda area. The check in was flawless and was informed due to a wet season there would be leeches lying in wait. We were advised to wear thick socks and to tuck long pants into them if we were to follow the trails. We followed the trail to see one of the waterfalls but 15 minutes into the walk I’d had enough of flicking leeches off us I headed back. When my partner returned he’d had leeches weave into his boots and have good feeding session on his feet. We did not get to see a cassowary but listening to the tranquil sounds throughout the day and night were just fascinating and enjoyable. The tree house had great amenities. The washing machine allowed us to wash most of our dirty laundry. It was really nice to shut off from social media and mobiles for a couple of days."

Chambers Wildlife Rainforest Lodges

📍 Eacham Cl, Lake Eacham

"Excellent location close to many small towns and swimming areas. Beautiful rainforest surrounds the rooms and most evenings we witnessed sugar gliders and a striped possum coming in close to a great seated viewing area. Pool was excellent and the common room was lovely and open with a pool table, chess and a coffee machine. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!"

Malanda Falls Retreat

Malanda Falls Retreat

📍 141 Malanda Atherton Road, Upper Barron
★★★ 10 (1 reviews)

"Best air bnb type accommodation I’ve ever stayed in. It was absolutely immaculate. It was clean, extremely well appointed and had everything you could possibly need plus many little extras. Location is perfect to explore the Atherton Tablelands region. Hosts were so welcoming but while they lived in a seperate house on the same property, I never knew they were there, my privacy was completely respected."

The Canopy Rainforest Treehouses & Wildlife Sanctuary

📍 247 Hogan Rd, Tarzali
★★★★ 8.8 (42 reviews)

"Opening the front door to the beautiful wooden rooms in the rainforest was just breathtaking. Loved the breakfast basket & provisions. Bread freshly made was excellent. The deck overlooking the Tableland mountains was the most peaceful spot for a quiet morning coffee and a relaxing sundowner drink. Very hard to leave the fireside to see the sights in the surrounding areas. Very special stay."

Mt Quincan Crater Retreat

Mt Quincan Crater Retreat

📍 Hunt Road, Peeramon
★★★★ 9.3 (39 reviews)

"My wife and I had a wonderful and relaxing break in a beautifully designed cabin overlooking the crater lake. Quiet and peaceful, immersed in a tranquil part of the North Queensland rain forest, it was the perfect way to recharge the batteries before returning to normal life. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to relax in a very comfortable natural setting."

"What a great place, isolated yet not too far away from "civilisation". Memories of sitting on the veranda listening to the rain forest will stay with me forever. Manager is great, very helpful at all times. Local wildlife is amazing. The lodges are very well appointed and we really could not have asked for more."

Chambers Wildlife Rainforest Lodges ★★★
"Great Location - Poor Accommodation & Service! We first stayed here 11years ago and were VERY disappointed (my last review is still listed here on Trip Advisor - September 2013). My partner thought she’d give us a night away and after reading some of the more recent 4-5 star reviews, we thought that things had changed. Unfortunately, we were wrong. I’m not sure if other people have a different expectation than us when paying $200+ per night, or they were lucky to get a better room, but things have only marginally been upgraded and our experience doesn’t come close to what some other reviewers have written. For $200 per night for a one bedroom unit, we expect better than what Chambers Wildlife Rainforest Lodges provide. We were placed in a centre unit of three. The interior of this unit was better than the one we inhabited in 2013 and had been given a facelift with newer furnishing, upgraded floors, ceiling and walls. However, whilst renovating the walls I think they forgot to include any sound proofing. The noise by other guests next door, from both left and right of the unit, was ridiculous. What sounded like doors or cupboards being slammed shut went on and on during the late evening and early morning. There was no mould this time and a de-humidifier was going flat out when we arrived. This seemed to be working well and the room was dry. We don’t use a de-humidifier where we live, were not familiar with it and as there were no instructions or notice to turn it off, we left it going. Not a good idea, because at 1:45am the unit decided to start beeping loudly to advise us of something wrong. I immediately turned it off. Although we didn’t expect anyone snooping around outside, the bedroom curtains didn’t shut completely (see attached photo) and there were NO curtains in the front room, apart from see-through white mesh ones. Privacy was non-existent. The bathroom lights didn’t work - virtually just glowed - a candle would have provided better light. We had to compensate for this lack of light by using one of the bedside table lamps (see attached photo) which was ridiculous and it looked like the wiring at the damaged lamp plug could potentially be dangerous (see attached photo). When we told the reception about this, it was made out to be our fault for not turning up the dimmer switch. Funny thing was, they didn’t have a dimmer switch, just on on/off switch. As I said at the start, there have been some improvements, however, they forgot to sort out the gas cooker. The control nobs on the cooker were basically unreadable (see attached photo) and badly damaged. The gas was barely coming out (maybe the bottle was empty?) and was only just enough to warm some steak we’d purchased for dinner. As to the wildlife, we saw a sugar glider, a long-nosed bandicoot, a honeyeater and a whip bird. We also heard a wompoo pigeon. The sugar glider and bandicoot looked like the ones we saw being feed last visit but I don’t think they’d have lasted 11 y"

"We stayed at The Bower House for 3 nights, a perfect retreat. The house was spotless, had everything we needed and more. I am terrified of insects but I assume that the rooms are sprayed because it was not an issue It rained for most of the time (to be expected in a rainforest) but did not spoil the enjoyment. The screen on the windows allowed us to leave the windows open at night, falling asleep to the sounds of the rainforest in very comfortable beds Bird seed at the house tempted an abundance of tropical birds onto the balcony , a pandemelon and brush turkeys were regular visitors and we were delighted to be visited by a cassowary on our last day. So relaxing to lie in the spa bath with views of the forest. We had bought coal and firelighters for the bbq but they were not needed as the bbq is gas. Loved every moment of our stay and would recommend 100%"
