Hotel Miyako Hills ★★★
"It was clean, had plenty of amenities, and offered so many different services that it was almost impossible to use them all; I felt it was a hotel worth more than its price."
Jodogahama Park Hotel ★★★★
"Stunning location! Walked into the lobby and was floored by panoramic views of the cape. The hotel isn't modern or new, but it's well-maintained. Stayed in the tatami room and it's extremely spacious. Opt for the dinner buffet as there aren't lots of dining options unless you drive. Breakfast was full of Western and Japanese options. Oiishi!"
Hotel Route-Inn Miyako ★★★
"breakfast is good"
Miyako Hotel Sawadaya ★★★
"Although I booked a room-only plan, there were plenty of restaurants nearby, so I had no problems finding a place to eat. I would like to stay here again."
Greenpia Sanriku Miyako ★★★
"We stayed with our family of three. The Japanese-style room was spacious enough for three futons. There was a washroom at the entrance to the room, and the toilet was spacious. They made the smoking room a non-smoking room, but the smell still lingered, to the point of being a bit noticeable. Other than that, it was very comfortable. The view from the room was beautiful, with a great ocean view. The hotel's Wi-Fi and my cell phone's Wi-Fi connection were weak. There was a large communal bath, but it wasn't very large. There was a sauna, a cold bath, a 41-degree hot spring bath, and a waterfall bath (lukewarm with weak water pressure). There was no open-air bath, but the overall room was clean. It was nice that there was water provided at the bathtub. The hotel staff recommended a different place, so we ate there in the evening. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of dishes, and the meat and potato stew and fried cod were particularly delicious. Apart from the internet connection, I was generally satisfied."
Kyukamura Rikuchu-Miyako ★★★★
"After checking in, I enjoyed a welcome drink of oshiruko (sweet red bean soup) and relaxed in the lounge. Before dinner, I went to the bath. It's an artificial hot spring with Ena radium mineral sand, and I enjoyed a very pleasant bath. The Japanese-style room was spacious and convenient. Being on the second floor, I could see the sea, but the view was only average. For dinner, local ingredients such as mussels and sea squirts were prepared, and there was a good variety of delicious food. Breakfast also had a sufficient selection, including bottled udon noodles. Souvenirs were also available, and I was able to purchase them here. I usually take a walk around the facility in the morning when I stay at a hotel, but the morning walk was canceled due to bear sightings, so I could only walk around the parking lot by myself. It was a shame because the autumn leaves around the facility were beautiful. I think the staff were very helpful. The price is also reasonable. If possible, I think it would be nice to have books on local tourism and nature (birds, fish, plants) on the bookshelf in the lounge."
Guest House Minato ★★
"Very friendly staff, good accomodation, clean and pleasant."
Hotel Art City ★★
"Accommodations in Miyako that include dinner are quite expensive, but this is a more affordable option. However, a business hotel in the city and a restaurant in town might have been fine. Food: The sea squirt was excellent. Sea squirts quickly become unappetizing once they're not fresh, but this is port town quality to be expected. The other sashimi was lackluster. The pork teppanyaki was also decent. The grilled salmon was very good. Breakfast was a standard inn breakfast. Since it's a small inn, the breakfast and dinner times are short. Bath: There's a large public bath on the top floor with a view of the ocean. It's not a hot spring, and there's no open-air bath. However, the water was nice and relaxing. However, it's too early, closing at 9pm. Apparently, this is due to staffing issues. The bath hours vary depending on the instructions in the room and on the posters on the walls here and there. For example, the hours are different for two adjacent posters in the elevator. I didn't make a mistake because I was told at check-in that it was early, but otherwise I would have been confused. Maintenance in this area is sloppy. Room: The tatami mats are dented in places, probably due to aging. The windows face the sea, but the sliding screens mean you can't open them fully to enjoy the view, which is a drawback. Naturally, they don't have any blackout properties, so the morning sun shines in through the east-facing windows, guaranteeing you'll have to get up early in the morning. The place is well-cleaned, but when I opened the sliding screens, a centipede came out. We managed to catch and kill it. There's a bathroom, toilet, safe, refrigerator, and TV, but no table or chairs by the window. Access: 2km from Miyako Station, no shuttle service. If you're lucky, you can catch a bus that comes right up to the front. You can use Suica, which cost 150 yen at the time. A taxi costs 1000-1200 yen, and takes less than 10 minutes if there's no traffic. There's a convenience store next door, but it's completely on the outskirts of town. Surrounded by fisheries factories and residential areas, the roadside station is 600m away. Overall, there's nothing particularly good or bad about it. The price is reasonable, so I'll add one more and give it four stars."
Nagisatei Taroan ★★★★
"Even though we only spent one night at this lovely ryokan, it was very intimate, relaxing and enjoyable. Our large suite was clean, comfortable and very well appointed. We loved the outdoor, private hot tub. The room also came with a massage chair and an en-suite sauna. Our 7-course dinner featured lots of Japanese seafood as did the full Japanese breakfast. I thought the price was quite reasonable, considering the attentive service, beautiful views, excellent food, and romantic atmosphere."
