"Our stay at Return Africa's camp in the Pafuri concession near Kruger National Park was incredible and exactly what we were going to experience. The personal touch provided by staff to all of their guests was incredible and unlike any experience that I've ever had. My 3 day stay was in November 2025. Beyond the personal level of service provided by the staff, the facilities were really nice. Our "standard tent" included a beautiful room with indoor and outdoor showers and a private toilet. All of their rooms overlook the river she have incredible views. Our guide, Andile, was great and each guest is assigned to a guide for the duration of their stay when possible. Birding is clearly a primary activity and specialty for the guides. But there are also many large game available to be seen (I believe everything except lions and rhinos are typically present in the region). I booked massages while on site which were great and a really nice way to spend a portion of the day between game drives. Our drives were from 530 to 9 or 930 am each day. We also had a 2nd drive from 430 to 7 pm each day. Each drive included a tea or happy hour stop with light snacks. Meal options were incredible with numerous menu items to select from. The staff take great pride not only in the quality of the food, but in the culinary experience provided to each guest. Regarding tipping... While the guidelines suggest tipping all of the staff at once at the end of the stay, I asked for clarification and confirmed that it is entirely appropriate and acceptable to tip our guides separately from the staff as a whole. We also tipped the massage practitioner separately."

"the Location was great and the restaurant staff were friendly and provided us good service, which is unfortunately the two positive parts of our stay. when we arrive, the reception experience was very poor. No Information was given about the lodge or breakfast until I asked, and we were not even accompanied to our room. The condition of the room was disappointing. The shower and floors were dirty to the point where you could not shower without wearing flip flops. Housekeeping was also below standard. During our 2-night stay, the room was not properly cleaned, the bins were not emptied, dishes were not washed properly and both the bathroom and floors remained dirty. Only the beds were made. This was a very disappointing experience."

"This is my second time experiencing Kapama, 1st time I took my overseas guests to River Lodge. The positive of Southern Camp is it's a much smaller camp, so doesn't feel as hotel like - most of the meals were incredible. However, every second night they force guests to have a boma dinner where you have to sit with everyone in your vehicle - the game vehicle allocation is based on guests arriving & leaving the same time and not people of similar ages or background. The dinner is a buffet style braai and does not reach 5-star dining experiences - At the 4-star lodges I have stayed, the buffet is 5 times better. This experience ruined it for me, and I would say anyone travelling, you will have far better value for money if you stay at River Lodge. The standard rooms at River Lodge are also alot fancier. The staff were all incredible - other than the lodge manager who made a point to go around to every table and check their experience but ours, we were the only South African's staying at the lodge, so think she only cares about her international guests."

The area is teaming with game and birdlife - we experienced three rarities, thanks to the extraordinary guiding skills and depth of experience of our guide Bongs/ Bongani. We had the privacy of Baobab Hill House with its attentive staff, and at all times were safe, cared for and privileged to experience this special place.
