"Where to begin… our stay was wonderful from start to finish. The hotel was superb and very efficiently managed by Tracy, who was such a warm, welcoming and accommodating host. All of the staff were lovely, so I feel bad mentioning only a few whose names we know—John, Maria, Tony, Lin and Rami. Thank you all for looking after us so well and for being so kind to my granddaughter. It had everything you could wish for in a holiday. The location is beautiful—we explored the island and felt we were staying in the nicest part. Our suite was lovely: spacious, beautifully presented and very comfortable. Little touches such as daily housekeeping, and the fridge, teas, coffees, water and biscuits being replenished every day, really made a difference. The breakfast menu was extensive, and both breakfast and evening meals were excellent. The Full Jersey is definitely a must-try! We were so sad to leave yesterday and already can’t wait to come back. Old Court House Inn
"Leaving Jersey Airport, the first town through which local bus #15 passes every quarter hour is St. Aubin, right on the bay. A 4-minute walk from the bus stand takes you to the epitome of Jersey hospitality tradition, the Old Court House Inn. It faces directly onto a little marina and the bay, of which our room had spectacular views. For a structure whose guts date back half a millennium, the Inn provides every modern necessity: a spacious bedroom, excellent Wi-Fi connections, a shower to accommodate two, multiple electrical outlets, good lighting, a very comfortable bed, and efficient housekeeping. There were little things, too — like the four home-baked shortbread cookies that greeted us on arrival. The staff is highly solicitous of its guests, and we imagine the Inn is very solicitous of its staff. They seemed happy to attend to guests’ requests. We were also very satisfied with our dinner there on our first night — it was very well prepared and presented, and VERY satisfying to the palate. Our room rate included breakfast, but it was not simply an austere coffee-and-croissant Continental breakfast (though we could have had that if we wanted), but anything that piqued our interest on the extensive à la carte breakfast menu. For each night we paid $295. Not cheap, but it IS high season, after all. And finally, a postscript (literally) that is la pièce de résistance: We remain attached to the dying art of sending traveler's postcard greetings, of which we churned out a few dozen while in Jersey. We were short of postage stamps for the last few cards, and had to leave for the airport before the nearby postal shop would open. The front desk staff -- Lucy and Prisca -- offered to post these last few cards for us (of course we'd leave the money for the postage). To our amazement, after our return home, we received a postcard that they themselves had written to us, thanking us for our stay!"
Beau Rivage
"We have stayed in the Beau Rivage every year for 10 years (excluding 2020) and would have regarded it as our favourite place to stay so I feel really sad to write this review. Unfortunately, this year proved a very different experience. Aside from being bounced from the apartment we had specifically booked, with the offhand response that the one we had been allocated was "exactly the same but on a floor lower" (something which is very important given the proximity to the bar), the biggest problem this year was that it was like staying in a very loud, never-ending nightclub. While we have previously tended to avoid staying at weekends, we have done so in the past, knowing that the bar shut at 10pm most days and 9pm on a Sunday. Now the bar is very much prioritised over the guests - on Friday the music and partying went on until just shy of midnight. On Saturday there was an extremely loud disco from 7pm-9pm, followed by loud party music until 12.45 with the noise from guests continuing until about 1.30am. On Sunday, we returned to the apartment in the afternoon and at 3pm, a very loud live singer started just below our windows and went on for two hours! The terrace area was so busy, the noise was deafening and everyone could see straight into our rooms. More music followed her set but when we returned from dinner at about 9pm, we were relieved that all was quiet. Our relief was shortlived - at just before 10pm, very loud football anthems started on a loop and continued until about 11.45pm. If you want to party, this is a great place for you but we won't be returning. And Elizabeth, the manager who was an absolute pleasure is no longer there - when we left, her replacement didn't even enquire whether everything was okay with our stay and although we wrote to them to explain why we wont be returning, the email was not even acknowledged."
