Hotel near Kowakidani/Miyanoshita,Hakone
If you have any food allergies, please contact the hotel at least 2 days prior to your check-in. Located in Hakone, Hakone Kowakien TEN-YU is within a 5-minute walk of Okada Museum of Art and Hakone Kowakien Yunessun. This ryokan is 0.9 mi (1.4 km) from Hakone Open Air Museum and 1.8 mi (2.9 km) from Miyagino Hayakawa Breakwater Cherry Blossoms. Pamper yourself with onsite massages, body treatments, and facials. You can take advantage of recreational amenities such as hot springs and a sauna. Additional features at this ryokan include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services, and gift shops/newsstands. Enjoy a satisfying meal at Geihinkan(Steak) serving guests of Hakone Kowakien TEN-YU. Quench your thirst with your favorite drink at the bar/lounge. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite. "This hotel is conveniently located about 200 meters from the Tenyu bus stop, accessible by Hakone's main bus lines, Z03 and J03. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and has a very stylish ambiance. The Japanese-style room, though not huge, was quite spacious and quiet. Despite checking in during February, the room's excellent insulation actually made it feel warm. The private open-air bath on the balcony was amazing; even with outside temperatures around 5 degrees Celsius, the continuous flow of 40-degree-plus hot spring water meant it was never cold. The hotel also offers outdoor public baths and a footbath. Plus, on the 5th floor lobby, there are two free ice cream machines – just ask the front desk for complimentary tokens to enjoy as much as you like – and a continuous supply of various iced teas. I must especially commend the dining experience; half-board (dinner and breakfast) is an absolute must! Upon check-in, the front desk proactively changed our two nights of shabu-shabu to one night of shabu-shabu and one night of kaiseki. Each dinner was a full course, incredibly delicious, and left us completely stuffed. For breakfast, there are two restaurants, and I highly recommend the buffet; the variety is extensive and far superior to the breakfast at the Imperial Hotel, which is often ranked as a top Tokyo dining spot on Ctrip. The hotel also hosts free evening performances, and you can even pay to release sky lanterns. Honestly, if I came to Hakone 100 times, I'd stay at Tenyu 100 times."

"We were looking for onsen with private bath on the balcony and probably hit the sweet spot. Unfortunately we had only 1 night stay, but it was fantastic. Onsen is located at the top station Gora, where you can get from Odawara. That’s around 2 hours from Tokyo all together, around 3 hours from Kyoto. Last 2 sections of the way are going through a picturesque steep railway. Views are great! Be sure to rush to the front or back seats (doesn’t matter which) to secure a spot for nice photographs. Private bath is fantastic, rooms are clean and spacious with a touch of ryokan style (tatami etc). That’s a perfect place to sit and relax doesn’t matter it’s sunshine or pooring rain outside. The food was fantastic (according to my wife), however the options are limited if you’re not eating fish or sea products due to allergy or other reasons. For Karaku team - I would suggest adding a signature wagyu set for those who would like something else. Selection of wine and alcohol drinks is superb. Free snacks and coffee are available till 8 p.m. as well with a view terrace. For those who like some regular conbini stuff - Lawson is around 10 mins walk with Miyazaki style trains passing by👌🏻 All in all, we wish we had stayed at least 2 nights as there are lots of activities around.  Thanks to Karaku staff for a warm welcome and tailored experience!"

"This hotel offers great value for money. It's my second time in Hakone, and compared to the hotels by Lake Ashi, this one feels much newer. The rooms are quite spacious for Japan, with a 1.5-meter bed and a 1.1-meter bed side-by-side. The toilet is separate from the shower, which is a wet/dry design. The view from the window is also lovely. The hot springs are on the sixth floor, featuring both outdoor mountain-view onsens and indoor ones. The outdoor area also has a single and a double private pool, which is a nice touch. Overall, it's pretty good. The breakfast and dinner are more Japanese style, with ramen, miso soup, sashimi, and sweet shrimp. The mattress in the room was really comfortable. All in all, a great stay. Right opposite the hotel is the Okada Museum of Art, which I highly recommend visiting, especially as a Chinese person. The first floor of the five-story museum is dedicated to Chinese porcelain from various dynasties, with the oldest being a green-glazed阁楼 (pavilion) from the 2nd-3rd century BC (Former Han Dynasty), standing about a meter tall. I won't say too much more, as photography of the artifacts is not allowed."

"🏔️✨【Hakone Indigo Hotel: A Dreamlike Mountain Retreat】 This was my first stay at Hakone Gōra Indigo, and I was truly rejuvenated by the ambiance. The hotel is nestled in a hot spring resort surrounded by mountains; opening the window reveals layers of greenery and distant clouds and mist, as beautiful as a painting. The room design is modern yet elegantly Japanese, and the open-air onsen was fantastic. The spring water was smooth and comforting, instantly washing away a day's fatigue. Breakfast was also incredibly impressive, using fresh local ingredients; you could feel the attention to detail even in the bread and juice. The staff were friendly and attentive, with every greeting feeling warm, making you feel right at home. The overall experience exceeded expectations, and it's worth revisiting, whether you're a couple, a family, or a solo traveler. 💛 The only thing worth mentioning is that the in-room onsen water seemed to be completely diluted; you could even call it a 'fake' onsen. It lacked the typical onsen smell and was essentially just hot water."

"This hotel exceeded my expectations. Even though I had some understanding of it before booking, staying there in person truly revealed the unexpected delights. The hotel is conveniently located near the Tram Palace lower station or the Hotel Zen bus stop, making it accessible even without a car or private charter. Then there's the hotel's architecture, the concierge area, the front desk, the check-in guide, the shared bar, the rooms, the bathrooms (with optional spa), breakfast (with optional Japanese breakfast at Kikuka-so), the entertainment area (including a swimming pool), the wedding chapel area, the art gallery, the pastry shop, and so much more to explore and experience. It's also a place where famous figures like Albert Einstein and John Lennon have left their unforgettable memories. In short, if you're not on a group tour or rushing through Hakone, this is the perfect choice for a slow-paced vacation."

"🎉The hotel is located in Hakone Kowakidani. It was formerly a villa built by the Mitsui Zaibatsu during the Taisho period of Japan. The ancient building is a registered tangible cultural property of the Japanese state. It has now been transformed into a restaurant and lounge of Songcuiyuan. 🎈The hotel is in a Japanese garden style, surrounded by pine trees and bamboo forests, creating a quiet and secluded environment. It has 6 buildings, including 1 restaurant and bar, 1 front desk, hot spring, SPA, and 4 buildings with a total of 23 rooms. ‼ ️Each room has a private bath, the Minibar is full, except for champagne, all are free🆓, there are many hot spring drinks, which can quickly replenish electrolytes 💡It is said that the rooms are named after people, and these names are all nobles who have helped the owner of Fufu🎐 ♨️The public bath is small, with indoor➕outdoor➕sauna, few guests and good privacy👍 💆🏻♀️The cooperative SPA is Sisley, which is worth a try, the effect and experience are perfect🆙 🍱One night and two meals, there are Japanese and Western options, Japanese dinner is Kaiseki🍣, Western dinner is Teppanyaki🥩, the menu will be carefully designed for consecutive stays, and try to ensure that the dishes are different every day💯 Desserts were specially made for birthdays and photos were taken as souvenirs. They were given to us as gifts at breakfast the next day. It was very heartwarming. 🚗The hotel is conveniently located, with many attractions nearby. You can walk to the Okada Museum of Art, the Open-Air Museum, etc."

Sansuirou, a traditional Japanese inn and restaurant in Oku-Yugawara, boasts an open-air bath with a panoramic view of the Hakone outer rim and kaiseki cuisine. Boasting a panoramic mountain view from its elevated position, the open-air bath "Ozora" transforms into a sky bath at night, where you can gaze upon a starry sky. With the sound of a nearby stream in the background, you can forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and simply relax. Sansuirou prides itself on its kaiseki cuisine, which uses local, seasonal ingredients and brings out the natural flavors of each ingredient. Kaiseki cuisine featuring yuba is a unique experience here. The smooth, creamy homemade yuba has an elegant taste. The restaurant is renowned for its nutritious flavors, which change with the seasons, and its visually stunning dishes are embodied in the skill and aesthetic sense of its executive chef.

"The room was clean and tidy. It was a pity that I didn’t go to the top floor to experience the scenery while watching the hot spring. The banquet package booked in the hotel tasted good."

"This is my first time to experience this kind of pure Japanese-style hotel. Although I only stayed there for one night in a hurry, the experience was very rich and colorful. The service staff was warm and considerate. Although we relied almost entirely on translation machines and body language, it did not affect our communication. The aunt who was responsible for taking care of us would patiently help us change our clothes, remind us to appreciate the cherry blossoms, and ask us where to go. It felt like my own relatives were taking care of the children who came to travel. This is probably the meaning of a family hotel. Dinner and breakfast were very delicious and sufficient! The girls really couldn't finish it! When I learned that someone of us had a birthday, I got a handwritten blessing card, which was very touching! Our friends agreed to stay more time to come here next time!"

Tsubaki is a traditional Japanese inn surrounded by the lush nature of Okuyugawara, featuring a pond-shaped garden with over 100 varieties of camellia. The seasonal kaiseki cuisine, made with seasonal ingredients, is renowned for the skill of the chef and the carefully selected tableware. From the large public bath, lined with Izu stone, you can enjoy views of the garden, and the clear, colorless, soft spring water will moisturize your skin and warm you from the inside out.

"Perfect hotel. The environment is elegant, the room is large and comfortable, the dressing room, bathroom and open-air hot spring are in the same area, very user-friendly, complete toiletries and makeup remover care products, and a mask, considerate. Kaiseki dinner is perfect, every dish is made with seasonal ingredients, the taste is rich and delicious, the breakfast is also very good, praise the chef. The service of the hotel staff is warm and thoughtful, especially thanks to KAWASE, the family is as kind, let us spend a particularly beautiful two days."

"Pros: The terrace is very photogenic! The hotel is bright and spacious. It was my first time in Hakone. I could see a beautiful sunrise in the morning. The room was beautiful when I took photos. The facilities and equipment were relatively new. The highlight was the cafe in the lobby. There were a lot of coffee, tea, drinks, and wine for free. The juice was very delicious. The oat milk was also organic. Unlike other hotels, the refrigerator only had a few bottles of drinks. Disadvantages: 1. The hot spring pool was not clean enough. Many places were yellow or moldy and not cleaned. 2. The hot spring was not constant temperature. It was very troublesome to add water by yourself. 3. In addition, the room was actually quite cramped. It was not as big as it looked. The toilet was very small. 4. The bed and bedding were really uncomfortable. The pillow was very small and the quilt was a bit short... 5. The partitions of the hotel were all made of stone. They were very hard. In addition, the room was not big. My friend's hand was scratched. 5. The food was really not delicious... too Japanese. Many things were very rigid. You must eat breakfast at 8:30. The waiter would go into the room and turn on the lights regardless of whether you were sleeping or not. When you took a nap, he would knock on the door repeatedly to confirm all your itineraries for the day. Time: departure time, use shuttle time If you can't confirm, just keep asking..."

OOppa LimTucked into the foothills of Hakone, in a quiet village along Yugawara Parkway, we found this small villa surrounded by greenery and the sound of a nearby stream. But what stayed with me wasn’t the villa—it was us. The kids ran straight to the deck, reaching out to catch the falling cherry blossom petals as they drifted onto the water, arguing over who caught the most before they slipped through their fingers. Someone left the door open, letting the cool air drift in. By evening, we were all gathered upstairs, half-talking, half-listening to the steady rhythm of the stream below. No one reached for their phones. Later that night, we slept with the windows open. You could hear the water, constant and calming, like it had always been there. It’s strange—places fade, but moments like this don’t. The quiet, the laughter, the feeling of having nowhere else to be. That’s what I’ll remember.

JJan MinaA ryokan that even the locals enjoy! It was an amazing experience staying in Madoka no Mori - from pick up at Gora station to the check-in, we were looked after. I was with my partner and accompanied by family members as well (their first time in Japan). The service was impeccable - communication was excellent, facilities were top-notch and the care we received was nothing short of amazing. We would definitely go back again in the future! The availability of your own private onsen in the room with hot spring water was so worth it. Great selection of seasonal food during dinner and breakfast. Staff very flexible in assisting our travel plans the next day as well. Given that it's located in the higher areas of Hakone, it does limit ability to get to the hotel unless you have a car. However, there is a shuttle available to pick up guests. Only thing was that our group got a questioning look from the driver initially when we approached the shuttle saying we had a booking. It wasn't until they saw our names on the list of guests that they happily helped us out. It did affect the initial feelings we had with the ryokan.

LLamlamSinOur stay at the ancient and modern hotel in Xianshiyuan was perfect. After booking, the hotel immediately contacted to confirm the check-in time and diet preferences. This meticulous and intimate service was impressive. Due to the small number of rooms, the staff is very familiar with each guest, often can greet the name kindly, making people feel at home. The hotel is located in the mountains of Xianshiyuan, the environment is quiet; the hotel also raises three cute sheep, as if in a warm farm. The spare parts in the room are practical and intimate, and the details are thoughtful; if the weather is clear, you can overlook Mount Fuji from the room. The hot springs and bathing facilities are a good place to relax. Dining, one berth and two meals: dinner is exquisite French cuisine, with excellent ideas and presentation; breakfast is traditional Japanese cuisine, refreshing and local, and both meals are very satisfying. Overall, this stay left deep and good memories, is an ideal choice for a holiday to Hakone.

Both meals were incredibly delicious and plentiful, and the hot springs were wonderfully relaxing. The staff were very professional, and there was even a happy hour in the evening. AAnonymous UserHaving visited Japan over ten times, this hotel was a huge disappointment 😞😞 **Service was completely subpar:** Throughout our stay, we encountered numerous service issues. For example, my passport was photocopied multiple times, and water wasn't proactively offered during meals. The most outrageous incident happened when we were about two kilometers up a mountain near the hotel. It was already dark, and the path back was a difficult winding trail. Feeling unsafe, we asked if the hotel could help call a taxi or provide a shuttle. They flat-out told us, ”We don't handle that; you can ask a roadside restaurant for help...” (The manager offered a verbal apology the next day 🙄). **Facilities:** The rooms are a bit old and maintenance is average, but they were clean enough. **Food:** If you stay for two consecutive days, the second day's breakfast and dinner are quite good. The first day's was not so great. **Onsen (Hot Springs):** All the hot springs are indoors; there's no real outdoor open-air bath. All the springs are quite small, but private baths are available at no extra charge. **Positives:** There are some complimentary beverages, Haagen-Dazs ice cream in the afternoon, and a selection of yukata (bathrobes) in different colors. Overall, it definitely doesn't justify the 6,000 yen per night price tag 😑

GGuest UserThe hotel's shuttle service made getting around incredibly easy. We pre-booked it on Ctrip, and the shuttle to/from Odawara was right on schedule. It also offered flexible pickups and drop-offs at several attractions. After returning to the hotel, a soak in the hot spring was the perfect way to unwind and wash away the day's fatigue.

CCat on the logThe place looks like the pictures. It’s about 20 mins away by bus from the hakoneyumoto station. We used the baggage delivery service at the train station (1000 yen per piece for regular size baggage) and when we checked in, our bags were in the room already. The staff is very nice and helpful. We’re thankful for the shuttle to the nearby bus station. The food is great. The onsen is very relaxing. We had a great time at this place. Definitely will stay again when I visit Hakone.

GGuest UserThis hotel is really great, and the view from the window is absolutely stunning – I had a super comfortable stay! It's perfect for unwinding after a day trip to Hakone, and then enjoying some drinks in the evening. The minibar is well-stocked. My only minor complaint is that early check-in isn't possible, and there's no luggage storage on-site. If you need to store your bags, you can use the paid lockers at the nearby station.

XXiaopangxieStayed at gen fufu. This hotel is the last one in Hakone. Fortunately, it is the last one because it is a bit far from the attractions in Hakone. Although it is only 10 kilometers, the transportation in Hakone is not convenient. The hotel is located halfway up the mountain. The bed is a bit too soft. The bathroom is stuffy because there is no ventilation. The temperature of the hot spring is high. There are water droplets on the entire bathroom wall. Overall, if this hotel is located in the city center, it can be considered. The breakfast is Western, but the taste is very ordinary. Although the dinner is a one-star Michelin hotel, it is still a little disappointing. The only classics nearby are the reed marshes and the Hakone Nemoto Hot Spring Town. Friends who come to Hakone for the first time should stay near Gora.
