Hotel Dar Ismail Tabarka

Thabraca Thalasso & Diving
"I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience at this hotel in the hope of warning future guests — especially those from the Arab world. First and foremost, the quality of service has become extremely poor. Throughout my stay, I noticed clear discrimination in the way guests are treated. Foreign (mainly European) guests are served with courtesy and care: drinks in proper glassware, friendly smiles, and attentive service. In stark contrast, Arab guests are routinely served drinks in plastic cups, with no warmth or hospitality whatsoever. This double standard is shocking and completely unacceptable. In the restaurant, the waiters paid little to no attention to Arab guests. And at the bar, the situation was even worse. I must specifically mention a bartender named Ali, who would only serve women and completely ignore Arab men and families. He was smiling and attentive only to foreigners, while being cold, dismissive, and visibly annoyed when serving Arab guests — if he even bothered to serve them at all. As for the buffet, it is far from the standards of a 4-star hotel. The selection is limited, the quality is average, and once again, the staff made no effort to provide a pleasant dining experience. There was no atmosphere, no engagement, and certainly no professionalism. To sum up: ✔️ Discriminatory behavior by staff ✔️ Unequal treatment based on the guest’s background ✔️ Poor and disrespectful service for Arabs ✔️ Below-average buffet ❌ A bitter experience I would not wish on anyone I strongly discourage anyone from booking this hotel, especially if you're Arab and expect to be treated with basic respect and dignity. There are many other hotels in the area that offer a much more welcoming and fair experience for all guests — regardless of their origin."
Hôtel les Mimosas Tabarka
"The hotel is beautifully situated above the city with a beautiful view of the city and the sea. The hotel is getting old and we were almost alone in the hotel during our stay. The breakfast is very simple and the rooms are also functional. Recommended for a short stay (!) as a European, the entire holiday region obviously benefits from Algerian tourists. The large hotels outside the city are almost all isolated in the area. However, we cannot judge what it is like during the peak travel season in summer."

Dar Daniella - Small Design Luxury Hotel
"Dar Daniella in Tabarka was the most disappointing stay for 2 of 35 nights in Tunisia. This is NOT a hotel and certainly NOT a luxury experience; it is an extremely overpriced four room Dar; nothing more. The owner was greedy to accept our full-priced, paid in advance, November booking then offer nothing other than to be able to sleep in an extremely cold room and have a typical Tunisian breakfast; the most basic definition of B&B there is. Our reservation says ‘you will be greeted by the host’; we were greeted by the (very kind) security guard and other than two local women who made us breakfast and changed the towels, did not see the host or any semblance of on site management. Ali, a very nice security guard at the front gate, opened the door for us when we knocked, helped us with our luggage, and after I supplied the details, showed us to our room. There was no host or other reception staff, I had to produce a paper copy of the reservation to show the room we booked and that we had prepaid. Ali showed us to our room and asked what time we wanted breakfast, but we weren’t shown around the hotel or invited to use the common areas. The common areas on the main floor were in the dark and cold; no lights or heat turned on. In our room, the Royal Suite, there was a dust sheet over the bed and all the outdoor shutters were closed tight; it felt like we were not expected even though our reservation was prepaid. In the very large room there was only one AC /heat pump tucked away in the back corner, the rest of the room remained very cold; we eventually had to ask for a portable heater. The balcony is shared with the other rooms and there are only sheers on the door so if want privacy you have to close the external shutters. There are plastic outdoor mats (!!) on the floors instead of proper carpets. The furniture is minimal, a hard bench-couch and two plastic woven patio type chairs. No coffee table; we used the other hard bench at the foot of the bed. There is one nice built in couch with lots of pillows but you can’t enjoy the view from it. The lighting in the room’s seating area is extremely poor. The bedside reading lights are too weak to read by. The wifi in the room is weak and cuts out often. The bathroom was very cold with a long vanity, and large walk in shower. There is a radiator but it doesn’t produce any heat; it’s probably never worked. The bath tub is non functional so couldn’t even have a hot bath; it had also probably never worked. No kettle, coffee or tea. No hair dryer, no robes, no slippers. I WhatsApped the owner regarding the heat and the tub but received no response during the entire two night stay. The Dar is quite pretty perched above the bay and port. Views to the harbour, fortress and next door cemetery are lovely. The Royal Suite is large with five sets of windows/ doors. It is attractive with minimal decor. There is good water pressure and eventually hot water. There are bath and hand towels; I had to ask for bath mats"
