"The biggest downer was the price if drinks in the restaurant. £5.10 for a small beer which equated to £10.20 a pint was well over priced. The lack of reception staff on arrival just an automated check in in most cases did not give you a welcoming experience. Most of the items in the cooked breakfast were either just warm or cold. To be told that there could be a 20 minute wait for our order to be taken in a virtually empty restaurant as they were busy that night was confusing. The hotel itself was in a nice location, was quiet through the night and was very clean and tidy. There is a pub and supermarket in walking distance."

"Had a full day's walking so I was glad to arrive at High Paradise Farm . Had a good welcome and a pint with cake. Room was ideal with self catering ability along with good bathroom facilities. Had a feel of an alpine refuge and would recommend a stopover."

Kings Arms

"This is a typical English country inn, with a restaurant and bar downstairs and guest rooms upstairs. It is run by a family. The sanitary conditions are good, but it is not easy to go upstairs and turn around because you need to carry your own luggage."

"Really friendly staff, we arrived early and got a room upgrade which was really nice. Comfy beds, spacious and nice bathroom. Was able to sit and enjoy the garden whilst watching the football. Good menu. Had a very good evening meal and delicious breakfast in the morning."

"Very clean and quiet! Good half way stop between London and Edinburgh. Travelled with a family of 5, stayed for one night. Sofa bed was fairly comfortable. Very large lay out of the apartment. Nice kitchen ( did not use) was nice to have two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the York apartment. Pool looked nice but did not use either due to time."

"We wanted to visit somewhere quiet and relaxing where we could enjoy each other's company, this turned out to be absolutely perfect place. The site and local area are picturesque and the huts cleverly set out with everything you need. They look fantastic and quaint. They are so comfortable, clean and snug you really can't ask for more. There are a few options for eating out close by, we got a takeaway from the local pub and that was also fantastic. We only visited for 24 hours but this lovely place has left a lasting impression and we'll definitely go back again."
