"I booked this hotel because they have good reviews here in Tripadvisor. I also did a bit more research by checking for reviews in YouTube, but I found no significamt vlogs about this hotel. Our room was located at the ground floor. We were surprised to find out that there was no fridge, and no coffee cups and electric kettle (which are hotel basics) inside the room. We wondered why the bathroom was dimly-lighted, only to find out that the light behind the vanity mirror was not working. I called the attention of the hotel staff to report it and he said: "sira na po talaga ang ilaw nyan"... its really disappointing that they are aware of it and seems like they have no plans to have it fixed. The AC was also at the lowest temp setting but the room was just slightly cold. We were too tired from our llocos tours during the day and was expecting a comfortable sleep at night, but we just have to sleep without the blankets as we will definitely sweat if we use them. Breakfast: thank God we didn't pay for an expensive room at this hotel, because the plated breakfast (weekday) and the buffet breakfast (weekend) is just good enough to have something in your tummy. We were not expecting a grand selection since we paid for the cheaper room, but imagine paying for their suite rooms and have a breakfast buffet of low quality corned beef, hard-boiled egg, overcooked mixed vegetables, etc. The only good thing about this hotel is that majority of their staff are very polite and friendly. Also, the location is perfect for tourists as this is centrally located and very convenient if you wish to tour around by walking. l hope that your manager will ensure that every room will have cold ACs, working lights especially in the bathroom, fridge and electric kettle with cups and saucers, and better breakfast quality. We dont expect bacon or croissants, hopefully just better version of what you typically serve. I really wanted to give two stars for this review, but I will give an additional star for the polite and friendly staff."

"Nice hotel, although having the bar open late to 2am from Friday to Saturday & 4am on Saturday to Sunday meant a constant flow of people either arriving or leaving, some must have been wearing clogs or diving boots, as the noise was unbearable....kept me awake until 5am Sunday morning & our room was at the opposite end of the building from the bar. The bar snacks were good, breakfast on Monday took nearly 45mins to arrive, so coffee was already finished 35mins previously! Not certain if it's true, but there was a photography session ongoing on the ground floor on Monday, the photographer was also the chef, so suggest the chef books his photography sessions once his chef duties are completed...just a suggestion...not sure who does the ratings, but seems to me hotels can claim to be anything they want...this was more 3* than 5* from my experiences"

"We stayed at Hotel Mercante on Christmas Eve and booked two rooms for our stay, as we were traveling with our parents and kids. We were able to secure the rooms at a promotional rate which included breakfast. The staff at Hotel Mercante in Vigan were incredibly accommodating, from the porter to the reception staff, the restaurant personnel, and the housekeeping team – all of them were very welcoming! As a hotelier myself, I have never experienced such a high level of hospitality in a hotel before. It may have been the Christmas spirit, but my family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. In terms of the technical aspects of our stay, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast offered was satisfactory, and I particularly appreciated the complimentary coffee available in the lobby for guests. I highly recommend Hotel Mercante for a pleasant and welcoming stay."

"My wife and I visited Vigan City for a motorcycle trip. The hotel is an amazing building, the staff were great, there was a huge selection of food to choose from. The roof deck pool and bar was very nice place to chill. They had secure parking below the hotel which was perfect for storing our bikes off the street. Only think I can think of was that was not to my liking was the bed pillows, they were thick were I prefer a thinner pillow. But that’s no big deal."
