Holiday Inn YORK by IHG
8.2 (227 reviews)

Holiday Inn YORK by IHG ★★★★

📍 Tadcaster Rd, Dringhouses, York

"It’s possibly one of the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. We were given a room smells of mould and damp to begin with, after complaining we got swap to a different room, no bad smell anymore, but the carpet was covered in dirty stains, what it really put me off was the blood stain under the thin bedsheets. The lady at front desk did then given us a prime room but with broken air conditioning, she did pre-warn me about the broken air conditioning, but we were far too tired and desperate to unpack and rest. I naively thought by opening the windows it will be fine. Anyway, on top of all these, our door also got unlocked by a stranger after we had just gone to bed. Luckily the chain at the back of the door was on and the stranger shut the door quickly after I shouted “who is it?” After a sleepless night, I had awful headache the following day, I had to change my plan the next day so I could recover fully."

📍 Station Rise, York

"The hotel is quite close to the train station, about a six or seven-minute walk. It has a beautiful exterior, like a red castle, and right outside is the old city wall. The central areas, like Butcher's Street and the churches, are only a 7-8 minute walk away. The room was spacious, had a coffee machine, and it was convenient to boil water."

Burn Hall Hotel ★★★

📍 Tollerton Road, Huby, York

"The hotel is good, situated in a nice place (for drivers), parking is free. Room was of a good size, very clean and quiet. Water pressure and temperature were amazing, enjoyed our showers. Good to have a breakfast included as well. Hotel is clean and looks recently renovated. Floors are solid. Huge and good towels, a lot of light in the room. Heating was on when it got colder. Staff were very friendly and nice. Parking was full because of the bank holiday, had to stay far on an overflow parking, good that they have it. Warning about 160 fee for running hot water with the steam was honestly scary and inappropriate. Bed was just double, small for us. We were only able to sleep on our sides (my husband is big, I am average). Breakfast was tasty, but basic. Coffee (you choose tea or coffee) in a pot was too much for 1 person and not tasty at all. No fresh vegetables or/and vegetables, no sliced cheese, no pastry."

📍 Terry Ave, York

"This hotel is located by the Ussuri River, which makes it relatively quiet. It's about an 18-minute walk from the train station. We stayed in a family room which came with a kitchen and dining table, which was quite good overall. The old town is just a 10-minute walk across the bridge. All in all, it was a pleasant stay."

Holiday Inn YORK by IHG ★★★★
"Booked for 3 nights on strength of 4 out of 5 review. Within 2 hours of checking in asked to change rooms as we were put in a room that backed on to the lift shaft with no soundproofing and it was noisy with lots of clanging and banging. The staff were great and accommodated our request without hesitation. The next room we were given we had an issue with very loud music coming from neighbouring room. We informed the reception who promptly dealt with this. The rooms are very dated with lots of wear and tear. The mattress was uncomfortable and bigger than the base it sat on and had a stained valance. And the pillows were inadequate. There were no bin liners and the shower had mould and the shower control came off in my hand. The lobby and dining area are very good but the rooms are not. Didn’t eat there so can’t say what the food is like. We only stayed for one night out of the three and checked in to another hotel. This hotel needs investment, the rooms need to be refitted and the hotel needs soundproofing."

The Grand York ★★★★★
"The room was spacious and very comfortable, and the staff were friendly. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the train station. There's a capsule coffee machine and small bottles of water in the room. I booked an accessible room this time, and the sink was quite small. I'd recommend being cautious when booking and opting for a standard room, as the bathroom is more convenient."

"The decor is quite unique, but the elevator was out of order. The room was a bit small, and the soundproofing was poor due to its proximity to the road. The hygiene was also subpar."

"A modern, smart hotel just outside the York Old Town along the river. Receptionists very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the morning coffee and croissants next to reception. Rooms were spacious and the kitchenette was adequate. An improvement is to provide a small table & two chairs for eating meals."
