3-Star Hotels in Lapland, Finland

After reading the reviews and all the nice promises on their website, i had high hopes about this hôtel. How foolish was i?!? I wrote an email the week before our arrival to ask if an early checking at 2h instead of 4h could be possible as we had to prepare for our wedding. They’ve answered that they will ask the cleaning team to do the room first so we could enter it earlier. When we arrived there was no one available so we had to ring and wait for someone as it’s how this place work. The person who arrived 10 minutes later was really not nice nor polite. We felt like disturbing him when he told us that they never do early checking. When i told him i’ve sent an email about this 2 weeks before he said i was lying. Oh ok!?! As we had 2 hours to wait we’ve decided to use the safe locker room they are providing. There is only 10 lockers there. After 10 minutes of struggles to try to lock a locker with all our luggages inside, we had to go back upstair to ring the rude guy again. We’ve waited 10 minutes again for him. When he arrived he told us that the lockers were broken and unusable. No sign to tell us that or nothing, just figure this out yourself when he knew it was broken! There is only two seats in the entrance and there were already 4 people waiting there with their luggage. I asked him what we were then supposed to do and he told us to just leave all our stuff unattended and unlocked there, with everybody able to go through them. I asked him if he was serious and he told me ”if you don’t trust us you can leave with your luggage!” I told him that i don’t know him and with some reviews already talking about stolen stuff in the hôtel you can understand why! He was very rude so i told him i was going to film him and that’s when he said i could leave our stuff in our room while it was being cleaned. We’ve decided to do this and whild doing it we’ve met the cleaning team. Honestly they should be the ones dealing with guests while the rude guy should be left far from any hospitality job where you interact with humans! They told us nobody told them we’ve asked for early checking otherwise they would have done our room first, especially if we wrote an email way earlier to ask for this. Probably the rude guy who forgot how to do his job again! After all that we only had 30 minutes to wait LOL When entering the room, we’ve realised that the fire place is fake. If you wait for the heat or flames of a real fire place you’la be sadly disapointed. Just a fake very light colored ”flame”. The bathroom is one foot away from the bed and the toilets are in it with the shower and sink. There is just a small wall separating between your pillow and the toilet. Wonder why we don’t see this on their website??? The room is advertised as a room ”with view”. If a view on street work and an old building is ”a view” then this is true. (see my pics for that awesome view) People are smoking and drinking at night on the steps of the outside entrance so it’s always

When I went there, I didn't know that check-in was done at the front desk of Santa's Hotel, my sister hotel Santa Claus, so I had to walk for about 10 minutes. However, it is easy to check out by simply placing it in the mailbox at the entrance of Santas Hotel Rudolf. They are very comfortable and stylishly furnished, and have many conveniences, such as shampoos, pots and teas, and hair dryers. The reception at the Santa Claus Hotel is very friendly and polite, so it has received more appreciation.

The room itself was VERY small: there isn't even a wardrobe or anywhere at all to put any clothes. Meaning you can never feel relaxed in the room and there are just suitcases and clothes everywhere. It was nicely done up. It was also VERY hot in the room and the only way to cool it down enough was by opening the window. This meant we were woken up a lot through the night by various sounds. Including the grounds staff clearing snow very early in the morning. The breakfast was nice most of the time. However often the food out in the buffet was cold and it was a limited choice. I asked for fresh eggs as they were really cold which they made me but it took absolutely ages to get. While we were there the restaurant for lunch was shut (we didn't realise or were told this when we booked it) I am 3 months pregnant and I need to be able to eat food regularly. When I asked about food at lunch I was told there are snacks in the room or we could go into town. The snacks in the room are basically pot noodles or chocolate. To get into town it is 50euros per head per way, so it would've cost us 200euros for a trip to town just to get some food??! The reason we booked the resort was for a relaxing few days in a 5 star hotel experience. I had to kick up a bit of a fuss to be offered room service at lunch time, which was very limited options - I had to have fried chicken and chips every day. They then wanted to charge us 25euro room service fee even though it wasn't our fault the restaurant for lunch was shut?! Dinner was mostly nice, again not a lot of choice and the menu never changed and I wouldn't say it was 5 star food. Service was good at dinner, the staff were really lovely and helpful. The spa is very beautiful which is the main thing that attracted us to the hotel. However you can only go for 2 hours during a 2 night stay. Or you have to pay extra (100euro) Also both pools were cold even though one was supposed to be a thermal suite. We were never offered a drink while we were in the spa. No one offered us treatments or really talked us through the facilities. You couldn't get a drink anywhere during the day, we were told the kitchen was closed so we couldn't even order a coffee?!?! Limited options for activities on the resort without going into town (again 200euro charge extra to get into town) The reindeers were very cute and shout out to the grounds staff who were so friendly and helpful. Overall disappointed and wouldn't go back. Needs a lot of work on service to be good!

Located in the center of Rovaniemi, there were many supermarkets and restaurants around and shopping malls. The office that was doing various activities was very close and helpful. The lobby is large and has kids space and microwave oven, and you can also warm and eat frozen foods. The breakfast was also very delicious.

Excellent location, within 10 minutes walk to nearby supermarkets and bars. Bus stop for taking buses to Santa Claus Village and Railway Station is also nearby. Right next to the hotel there’s Beyond Arctic Adventures where we booked our Northern Lights Tour. Breakfast buffet wasn’t a huge spread but still a pretty good selection overall. No hairdryer in our room, and the heater wasn’t really working. There’s a shared kitchen as well so we were able to cook our own meals.

The most cost-effective accommodation in Finland. It took some time to find the front desk, and I was very satisfied with everything else! There is a large space for breakfast, and the bathroom provides a sauna room with bath towels and towels. I am really surprised! It snowed when we went, and we participated in the husky sledding activity. There was a 10[%] discount and the hotel was a partner. It was more affordable than ordering online in advance, so satisfied! The transportation is convenient. The bus is in the Holiday club, dozens of meters away from the front desk, and the supermarket is about 600 meters away. There is also a public sauna, but it is too cold to go out. It is more convenient to enjoy in the room! Will choose here next time I go...

The Glass Igloo is small and not much space to open the luggage, however they have a very nice hot water shower which has around max. 25mins which you will be able to relax from whole day travel ☺️ . The location is not near airport, takes almost 40mins. shuttle bus from Santa Clause village to hotel. Though this location is really good for the chance of seeing Northern Lights ! We did ! Unluckily their ice bar and ice restaurant both under renovation and we don’t have chance to experience. That’s the downside of it.

In the city center, but dragged a big box for a long time, then go to the nearby bar to get the key checkin, check out at the door. It is apartment, the elevator is old, the room is new, the layout is reasonable, clean, the facilities are complete, there is kettle and dishwasher. A little taste of decoration. There is a 24-hour supermarket downstairs. Downstairs is the nightclub, but it is too tired to hear the legendary noise. When I arrived, I walked more than a kilometer from the bus terminal. When I left, I went to the No. 8 bus, a few hundred meters away. Luggage can be stored in the bar with the key and the door opens at 10 in the morning. Wi-Fi was not found on the black small device on the bedside table and contacted the owner.

A great hotel. Food really good. Swimming area really lovely. With a warm pool to thaw out in. Bed comfy pillows a bit lumpy, I took my own. Always do rooms provide a dressing gown Also a dryer to dry off your clothes. Very handy. It looks like a freezer NOTE: take your own warm ski gear. The boiler suits they give you are useless for keeping you warm even with 5 layers of thermals and a thick wool jumper We had ski jackets, but bought more ski pants we were too cold in what they provided. The boots were ok though, with proper ski socks on. Don’t need any fancy clothes. It’s too cold. Thermals and more thermals and a wool jumpers. *

We had a very nice stay in this Motel. Rooms comes with the necessary equipments (Kitchenette),you can park your car in front of your Hut, laudry service is for free. Common area is simple but nice with a Hockey table (kind of stiga). Staff was nice and ready to help. Location is perfect since it 10 to 15 minutes away from Santa village and Santa Park. Point of improvment:it would be nice to have the possibility to book a continental breakfast if needed. Anyway we do recommend the place, children had good time building snowmen and running in the snow.

Not a good start. Checked in with not much of a welcome by female receptionist, she gave us our key and pointed to some steps. Found our room and started to unpack when a man used a key pass and entered our room and then went out again and then came in again, and went out again…..we were baffled! A few minutes later the not so friendly receptionist came in to our room, (it would have been nice if she had knocked) saying that were in the wrong room….like we’d put ourselves in the room! She went out again and then came back saying we’re in the room and we’ll have to move. Next the Crystal Rep. knocked on the door and said they’d been a mistake and we’re been put in the wrong room and she would find out what room number were moving to (the receptionist never came back to apologised). Then the man came back and barged passed us and put his suitcase in the room and disappeared again! The Crystal Rep helped us move to the other room …..thank goodness for her - she said she would feedback to the hotel manager and the next day he apologised for the inconvenience and gave us a voucher for tea and cake …..we would have preferred the receptionist to apologise for entering the room twice and making out it was our fault that we were in the wrong room!! The room was very basic but clean and comfortable. …..there was a kettle as described but not tea, coffee, milk or sugar as described in a review we read. We didn’t steep properly as you can hear everything going on in the other rooms….we were woken up at 6am every morning to what can only be described as someone tap dancing in the room above. The hotel was filled with at least 95% of families that were on the Santa Package so a very noisy place, and our evening meals were not relaxing at all as the children were constantly running around in the restaurant and climbing over the furniture….it was manic. The food was good but not much of a selection - the Chefs in the kitchen were wonderful and served us with hot vegetarian meals. The breakfast selection was good but if you like warm portage and warm pancakes you will be disappointed as hot food was always luke warm ….as the the soup in the evenings and the water in the earn was never boiling.

Nice place to stay with easy access to amenities and holiday activities. Breakfast spread is good and facilities are well upkeep. Room price is on the expensive side with limited availability. Due to the placement of the rooms, it might be challenging for some people, especially older folks, to move from reception to their rooms to carry their baggage. There are no WiFi, TV, fridge, or desk phone in certain rooms. Most likely a one-time experience to stay and that's about it.

A truly unique experience in northern Lapland! From booking to check-out, the process was smooth and straightforward. Atte, Alexa, and team were responsive, organized, warm, and gracious hosts, and both the basecamp and mobile cabin were spotless and well-outfitted as all prior reviews shared. Note that snow suits and boots are provided for those in need at the basecamp, along with WCs, showers, towels, and space to store any snacks/drinks you might wish to bring with you. While we unfortunately didn't have time to take advantage of any of the activities, we did reserve spaces in the grill hut for a delicious meal and terrific conversation (I'd note that for those interested in ice fishing, Atte is a skilled guide). The mobile cabins themselves were wholly original, compact yet comfortable rooms on runners. They are pulled out on the ice at 8 pm and retrieved at 8 am, giving you many quiet and peaceful hours on the lake with the lights of homes and Inari town in the distance. Our evening was mostly overcast so we saw only one hint of aurora, but one can imagine the show when the sky is clear. We wrapped our visit with a delicious homecooked breakfast back at basecamp and engaging conversation with our hosts and other guests. For those looking for an igloo-style lodging experience in a more intimate, personalized, and adventurous setting, this fills the bill - and more. Buffet breakfast, diversified styles, my favorite salmon, eggplant juice beans and wheat skin, and a self-service waffles machine, let the guests make their own waffles 🧇, hot and very delicious! The hotel is on the side of the river in River Juutua, you can see the beautiful view of the river in the restaurant and room, first-class enjoyment! The front desk clerk was happy to answer our questions, and some were smiling! The waiters and food in the hotel restaurant (Aanaar) reached the level of a 5-star hotel. When serving, each dish will be explained, what is its main dish, side dish and juice! The most unfortunately, the thermostat does not have temperature, and the weather is not too cold. There is a hot tube for drying clothes in the bathroom, and the wet clothes are drying quickly!

The hotel is very well located, close to the shops, as well as a track of luges and patinoires located at 5-10min walking from the hotel where we could borrow the luges freely in the hotel. We have enjoyed the offered dishes, very well cooked. The rooms are spacious and clean. We strongly recommend this hotel located in this small town of Sodankylä, peaceful and welcome.

Stayed here 3 nights in early March with our son and daughter in law. Everything was absolutely perfect for the whole stay. Every single staff member and activity leader were so friendly, helpful and professional, the hotel should be very proud, as I'm sure they are. Food was excellent, good, tasty variety, plenty of seating, lovely surroundings and bar. Activities: Ice fishing - loved this, no fish but one of my best experiences, the frozen lake was so incredibly peaceful and beautiful, great guide too, he built a fire and cooked us delicious soup and bread; Husky sledding - fantastic! Dogs were so well looked after and we played with puppies, which was great fun; Aurora by mini bus, again fantastic as we were so lucky to see a great display of the Northern Lights, from a great location, a dream come true. Our son had an Aurora pod booked for that night and highly recommends it, could watch the aurora in comfort. Clothes they provide are perfect, the transport to and from airport excellent. Loved this place and I highly recommend it.

Buffet breakfast, diversified styles, my favorite salmon, eggplant juice beans and wheat skin, and a self-service waffles machine, let the guests make their own waffles 🧇, hot and very delicious! The hotel is on the side of the river in River Juutua, you can see the beautiful view of the river in the restaurant and room, first-class enjoyment! The front desk clerk was happy to answer our questions, and some were smiling! The waiters and food in the hotel restaurant (Aanaar) reached the level of a 5-star hotel. When serving, each dish will be explained, what is its main dish, side dish and juice! The most unfortunately, the thermostat does not have temperature, and the weather is not too cold. There is a hot tube for drying clothes in the bathroom, and the wet clothes are drying quickly!

Stayed here 3 nights in early March with our son and daughter in law. Everything was absolutely perfect for the whole stay. Every single staff member and activity leader were so friendly, helpful and professional, the hotel should be very proud, as I'm sure they are. Food was excellent, good, tasty variety, plenty of seating, lovely surroundings and bar. Activities: Ice fishing - loved this, no fish but one of my best experiences, the frozen lake was so incredibly peaceful and beautiful, great guide too, he built a fire and cooked us delicious soup and bread; Husky sledding - fantastic! Dogs were so well looked after and we played with puppies, which was great fun; Aurora by mini bus, again fantastic as we were so lucky to see a great display of the Northern Lights, from a great location, a dream come true. Our son had an Aurora pod booked for that night and highly recommends it, could watch the aurora in comfort. Clothes they provide are perfect, the transport to and from airport excellent. Loved this place and I highly recommend it.

Ideal location in the nature of Lapland. Care was very good. House was comfortably heated, with outside temperatures as low as -25 degrees Celsius.
