"I had a soothing and comfortable short stay at 山隅一舍. The staff was very personable, accommodating, and kind, proactively offering tea/coffee and prepared fruit. The room was clean and had a great view of the courtyard. At check-in, she even offered to upgrade the two-bed room I had booked to a room with a single larger bed but I was happy to stay in the original room as it was already prepared. I stillfound it to be a very thoughtful offer. The beds were also equipped with heating mats, which offered great sleep in the winter weather. The neighbors have some roosters that rise early, but I found it quite charming and fitting for the “out of the big city” ambiance. I could honestly just sit in the courtyard all day watching the cat and the fish. It was truly a tranquil oasis in a town that sees many domestic and international tourists. The breakfast also tasted clean, fresh, and was promptly prepared by the host when I woke up. She was also happy to offer recommendations to both myself and other guests (I even overheard her going the extra mile, offering to pickup pastries for the other guests to try at their request). The B&B is situated very close to the ancient town without being overwhelming, which although quite commercialized, is still a fun stroll since it’s nearby. The location is also a short DiDi ride away from many sights along Erhai Lake. Dali is full of independently-run accommodations and shops like this, but this one stood out for its great hospitality and soothing environment. The cost performance was also great. A hidden gem for sure!"

"The location is excellent, just a 10-minute walk from the South Gate of Dali Ancient City. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, making both transportation and dining very convenient. The hotel has an antique charm and even offers free traditional ethnic costumes for guests to take photos in. I stayed for several days and they also provided pick-up service. The room was clean and hygienic, and the shower had great water pressure. The TV came with a membership, so I could watch various shows and videos directly. Xiao Wei's service was very attentive. The only minor drawback was the lack of a full-length mirror in the room."

"For my trip to Dali this time, I booked the Chunlin Pavilion Hotel near the ancient city, and staying here really made me feel like I made the right choice, especially for the needs of us middle-aged travelers. The location is genuinely convenient; it's just a few steps away from Dali Ancient City, so we didn't have to go far for sightseeing and dining. When we returned to the hotel, we could escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It was very comfortable, a tranquil oasis amidst the lively surroundings. The hotel has a Chinese courtyard style; it's not overly ornate but very elegant. The water features and greenery in the courtyard are well-maintained. Sitting there, sipping tea, and basking in the sun felt leisurely and pleasant, perfectly matching the relaxed vibe we middle-aged folks appreciate. The room facilities were complete and practical. The bedding was clean and comfortable, which is crucial for a good night's sleep. A tea set was provided, allowing us to brew a pot of tea to unwind, which was a very thoughtful touch. The cleanliness was excellent; every corner was spotless, making our stay worry-free. The service was also very heartwarming. The staff were polite and humble, helping us with our luggage and recommending reliable local travel routes. The breakfast selection wasn't extensive but was well-balanced nutritionally, offering porridge, side dishes, and local specialties that were all delicious. The rooftop terrace was a pleasant surprise; during the day, we could see the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, and in the evening, we watched the sunset and the lights of the ancient city, chatting in the breeze – it was incredibly relaxing. Overall, the value for money is excellent, making it suitable for family trips or traveling with friends. "I had a fantastic stay here. My room on the fourth floor was a private, full-floor unit, offering great privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. The biggest highlight was definitely the view—the room came with its own terrace overlooking Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake. Sitting out there in the morning and evening was incredibly relaxing and really gave it a holiday feel. The room facilities were excellent and comprehensive, including a TV and a bathtub. The entire space was clean and tidy, making for a very comfortable and reassuring stay. The guesthouse host was incredibly warm and helpful, proactively offering recommendations and answering questions from check-in to planning my outings, which made for a great experience. The guesthouse also provides free parking, which is a huge plus for those traveling by car. Its location is also very convenient, close to the South Gate of the Ancient City. Most attractions along the western shore of Erhai Lake are only about a twenty-minute drive away. Overall, this is a highly suitable and recommended accommodation option for anyone visiting Dali."

"I believe everyone worries most about hotel or Airbnb accommodations when traveling. I'm quite picky personally, but this place gave me an excellent experience! The bedding was very comfortable, and the front desk service was fantastic – very welcoming. They'd greet me every time I came and went and ask if I wanted anything to drink. Their coffee is really good, in my opinion. The staff member was incredibly friendly and even helped me with my luggage up and down the stairs, haha, I'm so grateful! Breakfast is served in a set meal format and can be delivered to your room, but I chose to eat in the first-floor restaurant. What surprised me was that breakfast is made fresh to order – that's a huge plus! 👍🏻 Highly recommend. Both the fourth and fifth floors have balconies, so you don't need to go out to watch the sunrise; you can see it right from the hotel's fifth floor. For those planning to stay, the sunrise is between 7:30 and 8:00 AM. Highly, highly recommend!!!"

It offered the perfect balance of peace and quiet, yet you could easily dip into the vibrant local life within moments. In the mornings, I enjoyed watching the sunrise over the distant Cangshan Mountains, seeing the 'Golden Mountain in the Sun' and the clouds drifting by. The hotel also has a large, very friendly silver cat that guests can pet freely. The guesthouse host was incredibly warm and helpful. He recommended great local restaurants that even locals frequent, and even rode his bike to pick up our takeout order when we accidentally entered the wrong address."

This beautiful Chinese-style boutique hotel is perfectly nestled in the heart of Dali, just steps away from the ancient town — making it a convenient base for exploring the historic charm of the area. The architecture and atmosphere truly reflect traditional Chinese aesthetics, offering an immersive cultural experience. Our suite was exceptionally spacious, spread over two floors with two full bathrooms, a cozy living area, and tasteful décor throughout — it really felt like a home away from home. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They greeted us with a refreshing tea drink, assisted us with our luggage, and patiently answered all our questions about the city and nearby sights. Their hospitality made our stay seamless and enjoyable. A special mention goes to the breakfast: although the hotel emphasizes traditional design and ambiance, they thoughtfully prepared a Western-style breakfast tailored to our preferences, which we deeply appreciated.
