"We really enjoyed our stay at Lily Pad Hostel and would happily return. It offers excellent value for money and is a great base for exploring Dali. The hostel is in a good location, just a little outside the main town. It’s an easy walk, although you do need to cross some busy roads, which could be a little challenging if you’re travelling with small children. The room was clean, and the bed sheets were spotless. We also had a lovely view from the landing. There were some friendly resident bunnies wandering around, and we enjoyed having a ping pong table to use during our stay. The only minor downside was that the shower temperature was a little inconsistent, switching between hot and cold. Aside from that, we were very comfortable and really enjoyed our stay. We would thoroughly recommend Lily Pad Hostel to anyone visiting Dali and would definitely stay here again."

"I really like the room that came with a private balcony. I stayed four nights here. I think it was worth it. It is extremely well placed. I could easily walk to ancient city or the bus depot that goes to Xizhou on my own but they had a shuttle every hour. My absolute favorite thing was their food. The lunches and dinners were so delicious. It was 25¥ each meal, and you can enjoy very delicious dishes, even local dishes. I was impressed."

It takes a couple of more minutes to any of these places: restaurant, fruit shop, supermarket, hospital, church and bank. A short 15-minute walk will take you to the historical tower and pedestrian street. The hostel is about 18 kilometers from the train station in the new town of Dali city, there are frequent direct buses to help you catch trains just to front of the hostel on the G214 road. The hostel is a very bright and neat property combined with a traditional Bai ethnic exterior and a lovely modern design inside. Clean rooms, cozy mattresses. Staff at the reception always do their best to be friendly and helpful to guests. Free Wi-Fi is available in the rooms and communal areas. Free luggage storage is provided at the reception, train, coach tickets and further travelling service(individual or group tour) with a reasonable charge are also available. "This hostel isn't far from March Street, and it's surrounded by a small forest. You can also walk to the ancient city, which is very convenient. The female and male floors are separate, with individual restrooms and showers, so you don't have to worry about sharing. There are many activities, and the price is very affordable. It's a great place for those who enjoy meeting new people."

"Excellent hostel, I really enjoyed my stay! Really nice and helpful staff with English-speakers. The buildings are in the traditional local style but with modern furnishings - stylish and cosy with nice common areas indoor and outdoor. Excellent location in the ancient town at the edge near the South Gate down an alleyway off a main pedestrian road area with lots of shops and restaurants. It took about an hour to get there by bus number 4 from Dali city railway station. It was about a ten minute walk from the bus stop with some cobblestone roads once you get to the ancient town which can be a bit rough with suitcases. The staff gave me suggestion for where to eat locally and sent details via WeChat. The hostel runs activities and does lunch and dinner for 20 yuan which you can sign up for and is a nice way to meet other guests. All the other guests were Chinese so there was a language barrier for me but we still had some nice chats through translator or if they spoke English. The female 8-bed room was nice and spacious with large windows and it was cleaned regularly. Beds were comfortable and you have to make them yourself. There are lockers which your key card opens. The toilet is open with glass sliding doors so you can hear noise, but it was clean and I liked the western style toilet and that the shower a sink and toilet were all separate for convenience. You can hear the music playing from the nearby shops on repeat for most of the day but it didn’t sound too bad and I got used to it. They offer earplugs and toothbrush at the front desk - I’m glad I had earplugs. There is a laundry area which is free to use with washing machines and washing powder and dryers and plenty of space to hang clothes. There’s also a cafe in the main lobby/common area and it’s a good place to do work with power sockets. And there’s free filtered water and a fridge you can use.  I’d definitely come back!"

"The hotel seems fairly new, and the facilities are decent overall. However, there were no disposable cups. The makeup remover pads shed fibers when I used them on my face. The bathroom door mechanism was a bit finicky and annoying. When I first arrived, the woman at the front desk was on the phone and didn't acknowledge me, even when she saw me walk in. I had to proactively ask her if she was checking people in, and she continued her call while asking if I was checking in. Later, when I came back from exploring, my room was stuffy and hot. Since the front desk was just a few steps away, I went to ask if the air conditioning could be adjusted. She then coldly told me I could send a message on WeChat! I was speechless 😓! I was already at the front desk, just adjust it, right? Then, she reluctantly adjusted it with a sour face. While it's an international youth hostel with a decent environment, the front desk's professionalism and service attitude are really lacking! It made for an uncomfortable experience."

"Facilities: They provide disposable toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair dryers, and slippers. Hygiene: Very clean. Environment: There are many 'qingju' e-bikes nearby, and it's a short ride to the ancient city. It's close to Sanyue Street, where you can shop and find lots of snacks and fruits. There's a pub downstairs, but the sound insulation is good, so it's not noisy at night. Service: The owner let me check in early and upgraded me from a 6-bed dorm to a 4-bed dorm. I was worried about not having bed curtains or private space, but the 4-bed dorm also has bed curtains. They provide disposable bedding (sheets, duvet cover, pillowcase) which you put on yourself, so you don't have to worry about cleanliness. The owner also kindly offered me fruit, haha! My luggage was a bit heavy, and the owner helped me carry it upstairs. When I left, they even helped me carry it downstairs and load it into the car. Many thanks to the owners! I had a great time in Dali; the scenery is beautiful, and the people are warm and welcoming."

"This hostel is incredibly comfortable! The rooms are clean and quiet, with excellent privacy, making for a truly peaceful stay. The biggest surprise was the free washing machines, thoughtfully separated for men and women, which is incredibly convenient and friendly for female travelers! I also met some super interesting women here, and we hit it off immediately, which really warmed up my trip. It's fantastic value for money, I highly recommend it!"

"The owner is very kind and welcoming, and the hostel is very clean. The room also has great soundproofing! However, I'd advise female travelers to avoid room 2002. There's a long-term tenant who has a terrible temper. She slams the door violently whenever she comes and goes, and she plays poker (Dou Dizhu) at 2 AM, which is very loud. If you try to talk to her, she'll just yell profanities. If it weren't for my leg injury and the fact that other rooms didn't have lower bunks available, I really wouldn't want to share a room with her. 😓"

A very comfortable guesthouse. The owners were very welcoming; the owner was lovely, had a story to tell, and was very talkative. The whole family was very friendly and helpful, even helping with our luggage – thank you so much!! Actually, I wasn't really into the food in Dali this time, and was a little disappointed, but the owner recommended some nearby ”non-trendy” restaurants: Blueberry Fish and Ganggang Rice Noodles. They were within walking distance, delicious, and in a great location – right next to the March Street Market, and there's also a Lotus Root Shop nearby, which is great for browsing. It's also very convenient to walk to the Old Town. And!! Peach the dog is so cute! A chubby little dog, so adorable and easy to pet. He even got up later than us this morning, haha! Hope to see him again sometime!

The large dog at the front desk was adorable, and the landlady was very friendly, sharing a map of authentic local restaurants. I stayed in a double room, which was a bit small. I hope they can replace the curtains/bed curtains with blackout ones. The location is quite convenient; Didi (ride-hailing service) can get you to the door. There's a communal area on the balcony for drying clothes.

I was a little scared when I first got on the bus into the village, but after entering it exceeded my expectations! Being able to stay in a hotel with such facilities at this price next to the airport is really cost-effective. It is a restaurant and accommodation integrated into one. Meals can be packed and sent upstairs to eat. I ordered sweet and sour pork ribs and stir-fried vegetables, which were delicious. The rooms are newly decorated, better than hotels in the city. TV, WiFi, air conditioning, bathroom all worked cleanly and in good condition. The shower is a piano-key four-speed shower, so comfortable! There was a little problem with the WiFi in the middle. They came to fix it right away after I called. It was much more efficient than other hotels 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 It's super close to the airport, about ten minutes drive, and you can take me to the airport at around five in the morning, thank you 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

A comfortable stay, with helpful staff. Lots of young people who were generally friendly and helpful. I think there's a good community here. The smoke from the nightly campfire was unpleasant as our room faced the front yard. Thankfully we managed to close the windows. The hostel is set in a village just outside the old city - about 10 minutes walk, I think. Very conveniently located near the #8 bus route to the train station.

The room was very clean and well-equipped, and the bed linen and duvet covers all smelled lovely. The location is very convenient for getting around; the hotel offers electric scooter rentals, and there are car rental agencies and bus stops just a few hundred meters away. It's also very close to Yincang Road and Pingdeng Road, which have many interesting small shops. If you're looking for morning coffee, evening drinks, or independent bookstores, they're all within walking distance. The hotel has spacious common areas; the lobby on the first floor has a great atmosphere for socializing, while the second floor is perfect for studying (and there are cute cats to pet!).

This hostel is really fun! You can cook and share meals with other guests, and the volunteer staff are super interesting. There's a dedicated game room for playing Werewolf, mahjong, and they even have a projector. Sometimes at night, people play music, so you can sing along and chat.

The usual hostel is undergoing renovations at the moment, so the actual accommodation is around the corner. I was quite lost until I texted the 'late entrance' phone number by chance and the owners father found me. There is no bar, pool table or restaurant currently accessible but I'm sure it will be great when it reopens. The room was lovely but very cold with a big gap under the door and a hole the size of a postcard in the bathroom. I think a more updated profile to reflect current amenities would be beneficial.

What really caught my eye about this hotel was the desk; it felt so simple and understated. Since this was a spontaneous road trip, we just picked a hotel randomly, but I was pleasantly surprised! When we checked out, they even reminded us not to forget anything. Plus, during our stay, they shared some great hidden photo spots with us.

This was my first time staying in a youth hostel, and the room was quite nice. The window offered a view of Cangshan Mountain. Both the owner and the other guests were very warm and friendly, even inviting me to join them for a BBQ and beer. However, I wouldn't recommend it for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere over a lively one.
