The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful, also to is convenient for our visit to Hanging Temple, wooden Pagoda and Yungang Grottoes as well. Once a strategic military stronghold during the Ming Dynasty, the city is surrounded by impressive stone walls and gate towers that give it a grand, historic feel. "The most comfortable parent-child hotel we've ever stayed at with our child! I wholeheartedly recommend it to all moms and dads out there! 🛏️ Three-meter super-wide bed, tumble around worry-free! The room features a super-sized tatami area with a special mattress over three meters wide. Our child can roll around freely while sleeping, and we adults don't have to worry about them falling off the bed at all. We finally got a full night's sleep! 🎠 Kids' playground + thoughtful service, hands-free! The hotel's public area on the first floor is an absolute paradise for children! It not only has bookshelves, climbing frames, and a trampoline, but it's also very close to the front desk. When the staff aren't busy, they'll even proactively play with the kids, allowing parents to relax on the nearby lounge sofas, enjoy a coffee, or scroll through their phones. It truly delivers a ”hands-free” experience. 🌳 Superb ambiance, cozy and comfortable! We stayed in a first-floor room, and just outside the window was a small green park. The afternoon sun filtering through the tree shadows into the room created an amazing atmosphere. The room is very spacious, and the separate wet and dry areas in the bathroom are incredibly convenient. We stayed here for three days, and the whole family was super happy and comfortable! It's definitely our top choice when visiting Datong, and we can't wait to go back!"

It's also very close to Datong Ancient City and Huayan Temple, saving a lot of hassle for sightseeing. For those driving, there's free and ample parking. The facilities are brand new and smart. The rooms are spacious and bright, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering fantastic natural light. The cleanliness is impeccable, and the bedding is soft and skin-friendly. The service is warm and attentive. The front desk staff are efficient with check-ins, proactively recommending local attractions, and are quick to respond to any requests. They even offer free shuttle service to and from Datong South Station, showing great sincerity in their attention to detail. The breakfast spread is rich and varied, with authentic freshly made刀削面 (daoxiaomian - knife-cut noodles) and羊杂粉 (yangzafen - lamb offal noodles), as well as a full selection of hot dishes, fruits, and desserts. The ingredients are fresh and the taste is excellent. Overall, the hotel offers incredible value for money, and the experience far exceeded my expectations. "If I were to rate the room alone, this guesthouse exceeded my expectations. Even though I booked a special offer room in the basement, there were absolutely no issues with ventilation or natural light. On the contrary, on a warm winter day, bathed in the soft glow of the lights, it felt like my own cozy little haven. If I visit again, I'd still choose this place. (The lady at the front desk was beautiful and kind-hearted, always willing to help and answered every question with a smile, which truly warmed my heart.) Now for the downsides: breakfast was served about a 10-minute walk from the guesthouse, which isn't a huge deal. However, the breakfast service was a world apart from the guesthouse's excellent service. The staff didn't even lift their heads when we entered or left, completely engrossed in their TV show. And they didn't provide Wi-Fi, which I consider a very basic service, right? Also, could you please avoid serving rotten fruit to guests? The breakfast quality was more about presentation than substance; it looked good for photos, but the taste left much to be desired."

"Let me tell you about the hotel from a few aspects, hoping it will be helpful! Location: Located within the ancient city, it's very close to various attractions and convenient for eating and drinking. Room: The heating was excellent. Although Shanxi is very cold in winter, the room was warm, with plenty of hot water, clean bedding, and I really liked the room's style! Service: From the moment I booked the room, customer service called to ask what time I would arrive. Even though the room already had heating, they turned on the air conditioning in advance. They also thoughtfully applied for a parking space from the property management and quickly sent me the location and navigation video. After confirming we arrived at the parking space, they even came down to pick up our luggage. The service was truly impeccable! Because we were going out for a stroll, the front desk even kindly asked if I needed a mask, worried I'd get cold. Hehe… When we checked out the next day, they even gave us a thoughtful ”souvenir”! Wow! I can't tell if it's the hotel's service that's so good, or if the people of Shanxi are just so kind! Hahahaha"

"I can't believe this is a four-star hotel. Breakfast consisted of nothing but pickled vegetables, not even meat. There was only one fried chicken strip, and the soup noodles were made from ready-made noodles bought from the market – the taste was indescribable. Even more ridiculous, the breakfast manager, afraid guests would eat too many eggs, kept a large basket of eggs next to her, watching them intently. Haha, this is a four-star hotel! Then they searched each guest's breakfast voucher, pulling them back even after they'd gone in, like interrogating thieves. Especially, the male lobby staff used a toilet-cleaning mop that reeked of urine to mop the lobby floor – the smell was nauseating! Your four-star hotel is worse than a budget hotel like Home Inn or 7 Days Inn. I booked two nights, stayed one, and immediately cancelled. Keep the eggs for yourselves; everyone knows an extra egg adds cholesterol. Nobody's going to fight you for them, lol. And there was a sign in the bathroom: ”Your shower gel and shampoo are custom-developed by you. Don't take them, don't worry.” Nobody brought your shampoo, so they didn't even use it. This is the first time I've seen such a stingy and miserly hotel."

"Beautiful new hotel. Very friendly staff who offered two gifts to every room during the national holiday. Room felt spacious and luxurious and was sunny and mostly quiet during a very busy holiday period. Hotel restaurant was also delicious with good service. We ate there twice. We also had breakfast everyday of our stay. Very nice quality including lots of local ingredients and choices was fantastic! The hotel is so conveniently located in the ancient city. Walking distance to a really nice cafe with great coffee, lots of restaurants and all the main attractions including pop up laneway markets selling ancient treasures. Honestly, it’s a fantastic hotel and felt worth the price. "I rarely write reviews, but I really want to recommend this guesthouse. First of all, the location is fantastic. It's right next to the North City Wall, and the Sculpture Museum is just next door. It's located within the ancient city, so it's close to everything. The room deserves special mention. The toiletries even came with Fumal FM (a Chinese music app), a delicate woody scent with a hint of sweetness. After showering, you're enveloped in the fragrance, and snuggling into bed feels incredibly blissful. Even the bottled water is packaged in paper – eco-friendly and chic. There's also a Marshall speaker and record player, and bath bombs and disposable bath bags are provided by the bathtub. Listening to music while taking a hot bath in the evening completely washes away the day's fatigue. The service in the public areas is also impressive. Afternoon tea and a bedtime dessert warm both the stomach and the heart. The room even has a small courtyard; in the summer, sitting in a rocking chair, enjoying the breeze and sipping tea sounds wonderful. In summary, this place is not only clean and comfortable, but also offers a thoughtful and meticulous ”just right” experience. The housekeeping team is responsive, friendly, and considerate, thinking of everything for you. I've saved this. I'll definitely meet again next time I see Datong!"

From the initial contact (via the WeChat app, which is essential for your entire trip to China) to our departure, everything was perfect. We were picked up from the train station by car and taken to the hotel free of charge. This is especially good for Western tourists who don't speak Chinese. The first problem would have been explaining to the taxi where we wanted to go. The lobby and rooms are very beautiful, stylish, and equipped with the highest technology. Most of the guest rooms face the inner courtyard, so you can sleep very quietly and comfortably. The beds are very large and comfortable. The hotel's location is excellent. It's located on the northern edge of the Ancient City of Datong, just a few minutes' walk from the tourist attractions and the colorful and lively old town. So you can enjoy it without being disturbed by noise. I would especially like to emphasize the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately, we don't speak Chinese, and the staff didn't speak English, but with the help of modern communication tools (language apps), we understood each other perfectly. Every request was fulfilled. There's even the option to use a washing machine in the basement of the hotel. This is especially fantastic for tourists on longer trips to China, as it allows for easy laundry. If you ever come back to China, we will definitely book this hotel again.

GGuest UserI've wanted to stay here for a long time, and this family trip finally made that dream come true. The check-in experience was excellent, and the facilities showed incredible attention to detail. The complimentary toiletries pack even included electric toothbrushes and Gillette razors, and all the snacks provided were from Sam's Club. Breakfast was exceptional – an à la carte style where they'd prepare whatever you ordered. Everything tasted fantastic, and there were plenty of choices. Enjoying delicious pastries in the courtyard under the sun was a truly wonderful experience! In the evening, friends came over, and we sat on the courtyard sofa, chatted, drank tea, and watched the clouds in the night sky. We even caught a drone show from Dai Wang Mansion, which was truly delightful! We also toured the owner's private museum and wine cellar. It certainly lives up to its reputation as a courtyard built with 200 million yuan; the main gate in the middle is 200 years old. Every detail exudes taste and grandeur! The service was excellent too. Although there weren't many staff members, they were very responsive. When my shoes got wet in the heavy rain, they even brought a hairdryer to dry them for me – I was truly grateful! In short, the value for money at this price is unbeatable! Five-star recommendation! 👍👍👍👍👍 Overall, a fantastic stay, but I do have a few suggestions to offer: 1. Only the door could be opened for ventilation in the room; the windows didn't open. It would be great if there was a way to allow for cross-ventilation. 2. The hotel doesn't provide parking vouchers. While overnight parking was only 20 yuan, offering vouchers would enhance the guest experience. 3. Perhaps due to concerns about some guests occupying a room with too many people, I was repeatedly asked during check-in how many individuals were staying in our room, which I found a bit off-putting.

GGuest UserI discovered a treasure of a B&B hotel that opened this month~~ Pingchengfu is very close to various attractions. In two days, I went to Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, Datong Museum, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, Jingtu Temple, and watched the sunset from the city wall, the intangible cultural heritage of iron flower, etc. Datong city construction is great! Overall, the accommodation experience was full, and I also ate at Kaige Restaurant and Longjuxiang recommended by locals. The overall travel experience was great! Thank you for the service of the B&B brothers and sisters, which is very good. The environment is quiet in the bustling city, and the decoration is antique. If I have the opportunity to come to Datong again next time, I will continue to book! Looking forward to seeing you next time

I made an appointment for the high-speed rail pick-up in advance, which was very punctual. The hotel environment was also very good. The front desk lobby was bar-style and very comfortable. All the service staff in the hotel were very good, very enthusiastic and thoughtful. The breakfast was also very rich and very good. I strongly recommend this Manxin Hotel to Datong. It's really great!

The facilities are absolutely top-notch, and the amenities are of very high quality. Turndown service and snacks/fruits were provided every night upon return; I was thoroughly taken care of. Service Team: I believe guests choosing this resort hotel have high expectations. The management team is mature and decisive in handling issues. Breakfast and rooms are good, and the rooms are very clean. I took the time to try the fitness center, which was fantastic. It would be perfect if the shower lighting could be adjusted. The front desk team is relatively young and responsive, handling issues in a standard way, but they need to improve their smart talk skills, as they directly address various guest questions. Other: - Some rooms still had a noticeable smell of paint or renovation (I thought that after years of preparation, this wouldn't be a problem). GGuest UserI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries. The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included. The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride. My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room. The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily. If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn. *I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out. **I arrived in Datong from Beijing Daxing International Airport

MM265777****Honestly, the Superior Twin Room is perfectly fine. The Deluxe rooms are just bigger than the Superior ones, but there's no other difference, and the extra space isn't really utilized. The hotel staff provided excellent service, the rooms were very clean, and the food was delicious (the braised pork, stir-fried pork slices, siu mai, and sweet and sour meatballs were all outstanding). I especially liked the buckwheat pillows in each room; they're perfect for someone like me who can't sleep on high pillows. The front desk gave everyone a beautiful souvenir map. Even when retrieving our bags, the bellhop quickly came over and hurried to assist, which shows that the Garden Hotel treats its employees well, as their professionalism and enthusiasm for service are exceptional. There are several popular internet-famous restaurants around the hotel. You can go down to get a number during meal times, then come back to the hotel and relax, and head back down when your number is called an hour or two later. No need to wait outside the hotel in the cold. I have to recommend a hidden gem: a fried skewer shop near the hotel. It's incredibly tasty, even the coating on the quail eggs is crispy. The spa area is a bit small, with only two scrubbing stations and five showers, but the scrubbing service, massage service, and other assisted bathing services are all excellent and reasonably priced. The staff scrub very diligently. My family member said that the guy ahead of him, after asking about the prices, immediately declared he wanted every service! 😂😂😂 I feel like if I come back in the future, I'll still choose the Garden Hotel.
