Bring a pole and lures and enjoy our abundant small mouth bass or take the canoe and tour the river.River Haven is situated on the northwestern portion of a 200 acre farm named Rivercrest that dates back to an original land grant from the King of England. The original deed granted hundreds of acres to the Moyer/Taylor family who were also distant relatives of our 12th President of the United States , Zachary Taylor. While the Taylors amassed most of their holdings through many local business dealings of the 1800’s, the fertile soil and incredible waterfront beauty of Rivercrest always interested the last heir Everet to farm and cultivate the rich soil and produce abundant crops. In the 1960’s, Mr. Taylor sold roughly an acre of riverfront property to a local businessman and soon after River Haven was born. The previous owners of River Haven upgraded and maintained the waterfront retreat and decided to share its peace, quiet, and solitude with the rest of those looking for a retreat away from the stresses of modern day life. And, to this day, these qualities make River Haven such a unique and incredible property and it invites you to feel like a part of the infamous Shenandoah River like no other can offer. ABSOLUTELY CHARMING!Rustic River Cabin is a Super Charming historic cabin built between 1910 and 1930. It features 2 beautiful stone wood burning fireplaces (wood supplied seasonally)! The cabin is just outside the town of Luray, Virginia on the Shenandoah River. It is centrally located to all activities such as Skyline Drive hiking, Luray Caverns, canoeing, horseback riding, vineyards in every direction and much more. It has a 100 year old fishing spot beside dock. The living room is all glass with amazing views of George Washington National forest and the Beautiful Shenandoah River. This cabin is literally on the river with views, views, and views and is open and airy. It is beautifully decorated with antiques and gorgeous antique stained glass pieces throughout. It has the view and access to 4 or 5 different sets of small rapids on the river. The steps leading down to the river make the river very accessible. The deck hottub area features a privacy fence with an old world gate that is divine and totally unique with “old world” hinges and door latches.Rustic River is designed for “couples only” and is the perfect honeymoon getaway with fabulous views by day and star gazing from the hot tub at night.The hot tub in situated on a large 30X40 sq. ft. deck designed with a mature tree growing up through the middle which holds night lanterns. Cozy cabin on 7.5 acres with 3 other cabins with river frontage on the beautiful Shenandoah. Your hot tub is in a private pavilion just around the corner from the cabin. Great mountain views out in the country with lots of stars. Perfect!Plan to relax away from it all! The cabin is out where you can see all the stars at night. Don't forget your eggs and bacon as it is a 17 mile trip back to Luray, and 7 miles are gravel road. So just plan to stay and chill or not--in the hot tub! There is now limited WiFi at the Paddler cabin and very limited at the Drifter and none at the Angler--sorry-- that is shared by both cabins for checking emails, light browsing but no streaming videos. Hughesnet is just not doing a good job. You can walk down to the Paddler and connect but will not make it back up to the Angler.Sprint-T-mobile work but other cell phones might not.The cabin has a queen bed room with a propane stove, the living area has a double bed futon, Direct TV and the mini-kitchen area. The loft has a double bed. We provide pillows and bedspreads but not Linens and Towels which would be extra at $25/bed/visit but we are not renting them during COVID. You will need to bring your own. Pets are $15/pet/night.Below the cabin is a picnic table, fire ring and charcoal grill. Across the 7.5 acre field is the driveway to the river frontage and boat landing (#20). There is a fire pit there too. Great fishing.The cabin is on 7.5 acres along with three other cabins which share the river frontage/landing (#20). Shenandoah River Outfitters uses this private boat landing. Plan to reserve canoe, kayak, raft and tubes trip with us, Shenandoah River Outfitters, for lots of river fun between April and Nov 1st. We have a two-night min stay on weekends, one-night min during the week. (3-nights on holiday weekends) We offer special 4-day mid-week rates and week long rates. Plan a longer stay and explore Luray, Luray Caverns and the Shenandoah National Park--great hiking.
