Historic City of Toledo
生生长在海边的果果I drove from Madrid to Cordoba and visited the ancient city. Due to time constraints, I only visited the cathedral, the San Martin Bridge, and the observation deck. This ancient city is still worth a day to visit.
Cathedral of Toledo
我我是GGBOY🌟 Visit the stunning cathedral of Toledo, Spain! 🕍 The Church of Toledo (Catedral de Toledo) is a treasure of this historic city, worth experiencing by every traveler. Estacion del Ferrocarril
旅旅の径Toledo Railway Station was built in 1858, and the current station building was built in 1919. It was listed as a Spanish national cultural relic in 1991 and became a high-speed railway station after restoration in 2005.
Located on the east side of the ancient city, the station has a construction area of nearly 13,000 square meters and a neo-Moorish architectural style; the dignified and towering bell tower imitates the style of the tower of the ancient city's cathedral; the multi-petal arches and staggered battlement decorations on the top are in line with the ancient city's reputation as a "place where three religious cultures converge."
A series of streamlined high-speed trains carry groups of tourists from Madrid 70 kilometers away... I am impressed by this true "century-long plan."
The Alcázar
旅旅の径The Alcázar Castle in Toledo is located at the highest point of the ancient city. It is a castle with a long history and a tragic fate.
In the third century, a Roman palace was built; in the tenth century, after Muslims conquered Toledo, they built this commanding height of the ancient city into a fortress; in the eleventh century, Christianity recaptured Toledo and built a castle here; during the reign of Carlos I in the sixteenth century, the castle was converted into a royal palace; after his successor Philip II moved the capital to Madrid, the castle lost its original important status and served as a prison, barracks, workshop and military academy.
During the Spanish Civil War, the castle was severely damaged in the war; after the war, in order to commend the soldiers guarding the castle, Franco ordered the castle to be rebuilt as it was, and it has been preserved to this day.
Today's castle is square, magnificent and majestic; the bottom floor of the castle has some ruins left as a memorial; the main body of the castle has become a military museum and library; the top floor of the castle has a 360° panoramic view of the beautiful scenery of the ancient city.
San Martin's Bridge
旅旅の径Located on the west side of the ancient city of Toledo, the San Martin Bridge is a medieval bridge across the Tagus River. Construction began in the 13th century and was completed in the late 14th century.
Two Gothic-style defense towers stand at the bridgehead. The five-arch stone bridge with one large arch and four small arches is similar to the Zhaozhou Bridge in my country.
Looking at the stone bridge, the mottled appearance tells the vicissitudes of history, the city emblem at the bridgehead shows the immortal glory, and the monastery in the distance blooms with a tall figure...
Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes
MMaryJoy Dela Cruz GonzalesThe cloisters and church are full of beautiful details, well worth a look. Wonderful old monastery. Although it is a bit far from the center of Toledo, it is worth visiting. The ticket was quite reasonable, only 3 euro per adult.
El Antiguo Convento De Santo Domingo
Ppxy0705The old monastery of Santo Domingo in Toledo is a long-standing monastery. He has a history of more than 500 years. The whole monastery is white and looks very sacred. The two tall bell towers are his most obvious symbols. The monastery is large in size. There are many pilgrims here to pray, and in the minds of the Toledo people, it is very sacred.
Mirador del Valle
旅旅の径To visit the ancient city of Toledo, before entering the city (or after leaving the city), you must check in the Valley Watchtower. The Valley Watchtower is located in the southern mountains outside the ancient city. Arrived on the observation deck to the north, the whole view of the ancient city is unobstructed: the towering cathedral and the square castle sit on the left and right, the clear Tahoe River flows around the city, and the different buildings are scaled...
Zocodover Square
旅旅の径Toledo Sukdebel Square, formed during the Moorish rule (711 AD), is named after the Moorish language, meaning the market for livestock. During the Catholic reign (after 1065 AD), the square continued to play the role of the city center, usually a market, a bullring during celebrations, and used as a fire site when the inquisition was held in the Middle Ages. In October 1589, the square was destroyed by fire and has been rebuilt to this day. The square is an irregular quadrilateral, and the back of the stone chair in the square is embedded with colored porcelain prints - the illustrations in the novel "Don Quixote", which has a unique charm. The buildings around the square with arcades are scattered, and the restaurants and gift shops inside and outside the building are in scale. Buy and eat freely. The most important part of the square is the classic Moorish "Holy Blood Arch", which stands outside the bronze statue of Cervantes; Don Quixote rode a thin horse through the arch to begin his adventure. Tip: Sukdebel Square, a hub of public transportation in the ancient city, is moderately distanced from the main attractions, and has become a major tourist distribution center.
Puerta del Sol
SsculptorThe gate of the sun (Puerta del Sol) is a city gate in Toledo, Spain, built in the late 14th century. The memorial above the arch depicts the sainthood of Il de Fonsos, the Visigoth Gothic patron saint of Toledo. The name of the gate comes from the sun and moon that were painted on both sides of the medallion. The gate is named because it faces east, where there is always a sun rising. The gate is no longer there, but the entrance is there.
